Old age brings with it its own vagaries & you are a perfect example of that Dr. Shafique!! 5221 Test runs And 10300 ODI runs seem substandard to you, then can we know what is ur standard?? If he is the worst captain, how could he have the best of records...? If that is indeed the case, who in the world is a good captain & why???? And who r u to tell him when to retire?? If he is there because of 'great influences' then except Dravid, who is there purely because of merit alone! And what do you make out of his gallant show against Shoaib(& he is fast, mind you) in the recently concluded series? He is there because he is a great cricketer & he will continue to be there as long as he is capable of. And as regards greed, he can keep 20 persons like you for washing his panties!! He doesn't play cricket for money. P.S. Sorry! I gave your foolish words too much importance!! Read More

Your review sums it up in the most accurate fashion. Actually the entire second half is total rubbish!! It overshadows the effect of the fairly good first half. Cheers, Abhik

Agree with all ur choices. Good review. Some other honourable inclusions in my list are: 1.Main Hoon Naa 2. Paheli 3.chalte chalte 4. K3G 5. Mohabbatein 6. MPKDH 7. Any Bipasha Basu or Mallika Sherawat movie.

I liked earlier Yash Chopra movies . But since Darr, his movies are not exactly my cup of tea. However, you resemble Kavita Krishnamoorthy a lot!!! Any relation?

couldn't agree on Karishma. Rest are okay. Kajol, Urmila or Juhi could have taken Lolo's place

Didn't like DDLJ & HAHK, but the rest deserve a lot of kudos. JJWS would have been in my list. But, as always, ur review is a blast!!!

What's the use churning out 4 to 5 rubbishes every year ? That's what precisely SRK does. Agreed, 4 years is an abnormally long gap. But prior to this, Aamir had been churning out one good movie on a yearly basis ( except Mela of course). I think that's ... perfect. Though not in comparison, Hrithik Roshan is also trying to bank upon this strategy. Abhishek may be good, but almost all his movies suck . And as per acting , I think not only Aamir, but also the other two names that I have mentioned, are better than SRK. And, never term Aamir as stereotype. That's one of the biggest mistakes. If you are trying to categorise Sarfarosh & Lagaan into the same genre of patriotism, then give me a break!! They are two entirely different types of films, with equally proficient characterisations by Aamir. But SRK is damn stereotype. Abhik Read More

It is absolutely ridiculous to put the name of a legend like Satyajit Ray & that of Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the same list. Most of the people of this country don't have any idea about what a classic film actually is. They fall prey to the petty melod...rama & gimmicks offered by Bollywood directors. Please leave out Satyajit Ray. Compare between the others only. AND.....SATYAJIT RAY WAS NOT A BOLLYWOOD DIRECTOR!!!!!! AbhikRead More

Well, there is indeed no formulae. But, after his initial years( during which he gave superhits QSQT, JJWS, Dil, DHKMN), right from 1993 to 2001, Aamir Khan has maintained doing 1 to 2 films a year & except for an odd Mann or Mela, all others have been big... hits. So, may be he knows what the formulae is! Cheers AbhikRead More

Agree with three of your choices other than Swades & Lakshya . But I have some other points to make. Black doesn't deserve an oscar, & Lagaan too didn't deserve oscar nomination. They are excellent films according to Bollywood standard. But, Indian cinema is ...a much broader spectrum. It has been graced by directors like Satyajit Ray. These are honest sincere attempts though, but definitely not classics. More subtlety in treatment is required. Hope you agree. Cheers AbhikRead More

The image of Bollywood is in itself not much transparent to the general Indians-pornography, casting couch, award event manipulations, personal scams, & add with these the huge public exchequer drained behind these stars in such a poor country like ours. The only reason Bollywood still survives...Read more

haven't seen much of Ishaa, don't like Bobby, but agree with other choices. Pankaj is one of the finest actors in the country. I would have included urmila too. She is far more talented than the Kapoors, Rai , Tandons, but has not got her due recognition. ... AbhikRead More

Haven't seen Gardish & Virasat. As regards others I agree with you only on DCH & JJWS. Rest of the films I didn't like. HAHK was barely passable, so was KHNH. But regards KKHH , RHTDM & DDLJ, I have strong reservations. I didn't like them at all. I rec...ommend the following movies to you: Satya, Zakhm, Sarfarosh, Kabhie Haan Kabhie Naa( u appear to be a SRK fan, so watch out this one instead of those rubbishes), Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke. Moreover, What about Lagaan? AbhikRead More

Regarding your choices, I fully agree with you on Urmila & Rani, but not with the other three. My reasons are: 1. Rao or Takia haven't done anything to prove themselves. The roles that they have acted in can be done well by any established actress. Its to...oooo early to declare them the best. 2. Same argument goes for priyanka chopra. She was good in Aitraaz. But what else? She is still a newcomer. 3.Ash can't act well. Its my opinion , but its true. Of course she is better than kareena, may be even preity(I think not), but she can't come anywhere near to Kajol at least in this life. kajol is one of the best bollywood(as well as india) has ever produced. Can't say about SRK, but I won't blame anyone for putting SALMAN in the list . But even mentioning the name of Aamir Khan in this review is absurd. He is one of the best in the country.

On the contrary, naseer, om puri etc. are real actors, whereas, raj kapoor, good no doubt, is more of a star than an actor. For Dev Anand, he was never an accomplished actor, he developed a unique set of mannerisms( same applies for SRK) which a chunk... of cineviewers liked. Well these are my opinions, ur review is excellent. AbhikRead More
