You are so right. I visited Jaipur for the first time, 1st time to RJ infact, last month and was overwhelmingly left with the same impression. They fawn over the foreigners but Indian tourists are just tolerated though of course they are happy to take our money. Very useful post KinKin and a caution to all those seeking Time Share memberships. Country Club also comes out with all sort of tempting ads offering 'free' land - there is no such thing as a 'free' lunch or land or anything for that matter. Going by all the reviews for Club Mahindra 'resorts', it seems to be one big rip off! I hope you complained in writing to the hotel because you would have surely paid quite a hefty sum. As for food in Kodai, in winter it is uniformly tasteless wherever you try. We were also in Kodai in winter a y...ear ago, and tried many eating places without ever getting a satisfied feeling. Looks like all the good Kodai chefs go on vacation during that time. The tastiest food item believe it or not were the chilli bajjis and masala shundal available by the lake side and at tourist spots! Even the much hyped Tibetan Chinese restaurant was nothing great, I forgot the name of the place. The German bakery was always over crowded with scruffy Israeli youth making it near impossible to venture in.Read More

Thanks for letting everyone know. One would expect indiatimes to have better service with the amount they spend on ads! Ive never ordered online on these shopping sites and now I think I never will. You can file a case at the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in your district for 'deceptive trade... practice' under the Consumer Protection Act, but if it is a big city, expect 2-3years before the case gets decided! May not be worth the effort.Read More

Excellent review with a lot of detail. You are lucky that Kovalam and KKumari were not crowded, they can be awful in peak season. Also lucky with cheap rates for houseboat. Let me assure you that probably no one has ever seen a tiger at Periyar from the boat ride! Very few have sighted tigers there... even on the overnight Tiger Tailing programme, pugmarks yes but tigers - hardly any sightings. I am surprised that you did not spot elephants and sambars, the 7am boat is usually the best for sightings. Munnar - the region, not town, is actually the best place in Kerala but yes, all the places to see are out of the town area. Next time spend three days in the Munnar region, you will not regret it at all. You have a good style, hope to read some more of your travel tales .Read More

More self promotion than true travel website

I agree with your observations Miai. I also do check out Holiday IQ quite often but find the content not up to the mark, although there is quite a lot of content no doubt. The phone numbers of some of the hotels given there are often out of date. But overall it is not a bad site - just could do with... improvements. I agree that the moderators at the forums there are mostly 'mindless' as you have put it very aptly. It is interested and positive to note the response of Rajesh from Holiday IQ. Rajesh, even if travel agents do post on your X Change forums, you should let them, after all it is indicative of the popularity of your site if a travel agent considers that your site gets sufficient 'footfalls'. For the customer, choice is paramount, just because some agent gives information but at the same time advertises their services, does not mean that users at HIQ will avail the same, and not those touted by HIQ .Read More

Im surprised to hear this. We used to subscribe to IT for a number of years and did not have any problems with delivery in Bombay city. We discontinued eventually because it is not a particularly good current affairs magazine - Frontline is far superior, but that is another story.
