Good advice What a sad but familiar sounding story. Yes, youngsters do not think about how their impulsive behaviour would affect their parents. Once they become parents, they will understand, but by that time it could be too late.

Well Sukanya it is all a matter of taste at the end of the day, and it is always each to their own preferences. It was not just the crowds or lack of service I found deficient. The quality of the sweets, snacks and masala pastes I bought were just not up to the mark, and certainly not worth t...he premium price. I do not mind paying extra for excellent quality. Grand Sweets as per my experience, does not offer excellent quality anymore and I certainly will not be patronising them anymore.Read More

Nice review, however on my three visits there, I have seen from the boat: sambhar, wild boar, bisons and elephants on the same shore. Tigers have reportedly not been sighted at all in the tourist area. We saw the elusive Nilgiri Marten last year and many rare butterflies. The 7am boats usually depar...t at 7.30 only after all the boats fill up - in season. After dark when we walked in the sanctuary main road, as we were staying at Periyar House hotel, we saw sambar and wild boars but no elephants because they have dug trenches to prevent elephants from coming anywhere near the road. All in all, Periyar sanctuary is a good place to experience wildlife with the boat rides and various treks, bamboo rafting and other programmes they offer.Read More

To Vinod If you feel that Grand Sweets offers a good product at a good price, that is your opinion which you are entitled to, and good for you. Everyone from Chennai is not necessarily a fan of Grand Sweets, and one does not have to be from Chennai to have or to appreciate 'good taste'. 'Good ...taste' is not the sole prerogative of people from Chennai. It is most arrogant of anyone to make such a preposterous presumption. I am sure you will agree that a Consumer who pays a premium price for a so called branded product, not only expects but deserves top quality, certainly commensurate with the price paid for the goods or service. If the product is not up to the mark or standard it deserves to be made known to the public at large. Since I was most dissatisfied with the goods that I paid a premium price for, I made this post. I stand by it and will never patronise Grand Sweets again. Read More

Informative review. I suppose this will be convenient for anyone in BLR as it is close by, but it does not sound the same as a visit to say Bandipur or Nagarhole, Mudumalai. Nonetheless, it is good for those who do not want to travel too far, and as you point out you can come by public bus and enjoy... an outing in nature. Good review and writing style.Read More

Well written review with a lot of detail, except for accommodation choices. Pondicherry sounds nice from your description. Actually I thought it was highly over rated, but I did not stay there, just passed through on the way from Kumbakonam to Mahabalipuram. I suppose the European architecture did n...ot impress after just having seen ancient Chola magnificent marvels. After reading your review, I might consider visiting Pondy in the future. This report is very useful in that it would convince people not to go there! The black sticky stuff sounds like oil slick and as you say it is littered. Not a very exciting sounding beach at all. Plus the hotel is on the expensive side. The Konkan coast is nowadays highly over rated, I have been the...re twenty five years ago when Ganpatipule was not even a beach resort destination, and it was pristine as were many other Konkan beaches. But now, people have the money and inclination so every weekend you get hordes from the cities going to all the formerly good beaches and leaving behind their litter. All the hotels have also jacked their prices as though they are in Bombay. As you rightly point out the local authorities ought to clean up if they want to encourage tourism.Read More

Years back I had an HSBC card which I subsequently cancelled after about 3 years, physically cut up and returned to them with acknowledgment. Imagine my shock when exactly a year later I get a current bill from them advising that they would debit it from my bank account by so and so date. Actually, I dont trust any of these on line shopping sites. If you cant see the product physically, God knows what they will give you. Photos always look better than what they really give. Bad luck but take it as a lesson learnt and it was not such a large amount.

But you are right, off season rates are the best for the room size and it is absolutely safe with the best location and most convenient.
