GG, the original and intended version of free bird never had the extended guitar piece to it. It so happened that the manager of the record company didnt liked the original version and asked the group to change the same, perhaps cos Rock was at its peak then. The grp went back and what resulted is t...he now famous Free Bird version. In fact even the orig version is gud enough to b a classic. For those who think LS is all about 'Sweet Home Alabama' and 'Free Bird' should listen to Simple Man as well and see wht the grp was capable of. Having said that, i wld add that the grp like most american grps was very local. They had a Southern sound typical of grps like CCR and Grateful Dead and thats the reason they cld never attain the popularity outside USA. And yes the name Lynyrd Skynyrd was influenced by the ever classic Byrds who were one of the pioneers of Country Rock genre and sang some terrafic Psychadelic numbers. Lynyrd Skynyrd was name of one the school teacher (Leonerd Skinerd) of Ronnie who was very strict, a careful look at the spelling will show that all vowels are replaced by y, a trend as I wrote earlier started by the byrds. Enough gyan, time to njoy the music. Take care n keep writting ShashankRead More

A list of top indipop songs and no mention of indian ocean, euphoria. And Lucky Ali has sung better songs than the one u mentioned. Sifar in my opinion wld have been a better choice. And I think Alisha's Made in India, Suchitra's Dole dole and of course Nazia's Disco diwane are more path breaking so...ngs than many of those listed by you. But then its ur list ur opinion :) Take Care ShashankRead More

Coldplay is gr8, I myself liked them instantly. But somehow they remind me of Travis who are my current favs. People in fact often comapare the two as well. For me both r great and as long as both come up with nice music I'm not complaining. Take Care Shashank

Nice revu, better than the top 5 series that u c nowadays on MS ;). on serious notes, the revu was good but man u got me confused, wht 2 use, spybot, ad-aware or javacool stuff. BTW i currently use ad-aware which is fine but it seems that when i use any flash program or audio-video application my p...c gets very slow. I used to have some prob with spywares but then i installed ad-aware and though the prob was solved to an extent yet this slowing down of PC remained a prob. Mine is a P3 with 256 RAM and 20 gb HD. if u have any clue as to y this is happening, i will be glad. Well, its more like troubling u with my ques and seeking answers that too for free, but i hope u wont mind that ;) ShashankRead More

Chk out Cat stevens and original of ugly kid joe by him and though nothin compares with the original, UKJ's cover is perhaps the best cover of this 1. BTW nice 2 c a Travis fan, but in my opinion last train and indefinitely are more dark, deep and better. Surprisingly travis are often compared to r...adiohead who in my opinion r comparatively inferior (though creep is an awesome song). Offlate the only good band that I like is Coldplay and they sound very much like travis. Gr8 list since u tend to like travis, radiohead kinda stuff, try out the cowboy junkies sometime. I hope u'll like it. Take care ShashankRead More

Path brking pop songs; well here's my list 1. Disco diwane - the original 1 much b4 alisha happened to biddu 2. Thanda thanda pani - Baba Sehgal was bad no doubt but man he was a craze during that time n yes he brought rap to india. 3. Bolo Tara ra ra - Daler paaji has gone frm good to bad to wor...se but this was the big 1st song that made every abc xyz punjabi get up n cut thr own album. 4. Chura liya hai remix by balli saagoo - Well just wht daler paaji did to punjabi pop and baba sehgal did to rap, this was one song that introduced us to the remix, revolutionary, well yes but I hate it now for all the crap thats now shown in the name of remix nowadays over the idiot box. 5. Alisha's made in india of course - In a way the first true indi pop anthem. sad that alisha cld never come up with an equally impressive follow up. Take care ShashankRead More

Good to see someone listening and appreciating stuff like Carpenters and Cliff Richard. Cliff as u said is one of the greatest artist of all times, though he cld never make it big in america. He was actually considered to b british answer to elvis. A bit of Trivia - Cliff Richard is the only person ...to have a no. 1 hit in all the decades frm 1950's to 1990s. And though I like almost all of his songs, Young ones and Schoolboy Crush remain eternal favs. And yes, u know I just got a 4 CD collection of the Carpenters with almost every major recording frm 1967 till date in it. It has some rare recording like a medley where Karen sings some gr8 numbers alongside Ella Fitzgerald. I think every Carpenter's fan must have this one. Well nice review on some of the most beautiful songs ever sung. Take Care ShashankRead More

Gr8 revu 4 a gr8 band. Just like Junoon is the face of pakistani pop music, Indian Ocean in my opinion is the face of Indian pop. Sadly thanks to low profile that the grp maintain, they never reached the commercial heights and acclaim that they deserve. May b its for good only, cos perhaps the comme...rcialization might take away their brilliance. I hope u wld have heard Jhini too, though not as good as Kandisa (Kandisa is awesome) but still a few songs r a jewel (jhini, bhor). Good revu Take care n keep writting ShashankRead More

Nice revu. U have pointed some very good points (goalkeeping and Silvestre). Another thg that I feel is responsible for Man U's downfall is perhaps the fact that clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea have gained where as Man U never built upon the famous 99 victory. Even today they seem to stick to old and... waning players like Giggs and Keane, when they shld actually be luking for their proper replacements. Recent additions to ManU's team are also not gr8. Rooney is fine, but Nistoolroy and Saha were already thr and in my opinion attack was never a prob with ManU. The prob is defence which might have been strengthened by return of Rio but they still dont have a good 2nd central defender, not to talk of bench strength. I think when the transfer window opens in Jan Fergie sir shld luk fwd 2 bring 3 very solid players all catering to defence including a good GK as u suggested. Ok Buddy Take Care and hope that Manu beats Arsenal n comes back to track. Shashank Read More

Caught this beautiful revu a bit late. Tennis for me was never more exciting than the times when Goran played and will ever be dull now that he has said goodbye. As u said, times to come may find another Goran but for sure there wont be one like Goran Ivanisevic again. Take Care Shashank

Dont get me wrong, but of late ur reviews r getting kinda cliched. Same style and treatment which might have luked interesting earlier is nowadays starting to bcome boring. Secondly ur reviews have now taken tone a la Taran Adarsh. Sorry to b harsh but I think its high time u change ur style a bit. ...U r a good writer whom I appreciate and follow so I hope my comments will b seen in positive light. Take Care ShashankRead More

Nice choices, specially the first three. But thr r still many better ones that can surpass the last 2 for sure. Tanha Dil by Shaan Kandisa by Indian Ocean In fact I wld rate Daler Mehndi's Bolo Ta ra ra and Alisha's Made in India Higher cos they were revolutionary albums in the short history of I...ndi pop. Others that r worth mentioning r Colonial Cousins debut album Lucky Ali's Sunoh May be even Baba Sehgal's Thanda Thanda Pani; just bcos it brought the rap to the desis. No doubt Pete is and will remain one of the gr8est player of all time. However abt the bad bhavior u talked abt of other players, I wld say that players like Ivanisevic were more human like, they were susceptible to failure and they never showed that they cant fail. Perhaps this real human like pers...onality of thrs was wht the crowd liked. I cld never imagine Pete serving frm Left hand just cos crowd is demanding that or may b trying a second serve ace on break point just for the heck of it. Greatness preserved, I wld say that Pete was never an entertainer, Tennis must not come across a better player than Pete but I think Tennis was and will never be just abt the game, it means entertaining the ppl also. This is whr I think Pete lacked. However I have immense respect for his game, as I said thr will b gr8 players but none to match the Pistol Pete. Take care, Nice Revu ShashankRead More

All Strategies luk good till they finally r implemented on the field and it was not just the strategy but the superb implementation of that by the greeks that won them the cup. I hope u observed both in the finals n against the french that the only chances which the srikers got were frm outside the... box and that too with almost 5-6 greek players inside the box. Thr fitness level n discipline were also tyhe key to thr success. I was actually a Chezh supporter but no hard feelings for greeks cos in my opinion they were the only team worthy of beating the chezhs. Hopefully the greeks will strengthen frm here n will emerge as a major soccer force in the time to come. Nice overall revu keep writting. Sumeet well thats how it goes in here. Abhishek U r abs right, his approach was so different and so human that ppl cld perhaps relate to him n thats what made him ppls fav. Thanks for commenting. Sri I actually never said that Becker was a bad player, he was one of the best but just that I... didnt like him for not so logical reasons. Anyways thanx for commenting. Lyla and Damo Thanx for commenting and appreciating the revu. Mehul Its like that only, I start writting but more often than not I dont finish. So now i have whole bunch of unfinished revus which may never c the light of the day but thats the way it is. Good that u liked the revu, I hope u liked Goran as well. B in touch. Rama I remember that very well. On one other occasion, I think in 94 he was playing against Amos Mansdorf in 2nd or 3rd round when he continuously hit 9 aces (thats 2 games in a row) and Mansdorf was so overawed that he bowed to him. Even in his last press conf he kept his humorous side by stating that the only way he cld have been a no. 1 player was by shooting Sampras and that he cldnt do. I appreciate ur feelings, he was one player who deserved such lovely fans like u. Take care Shashank Read More
