What can anyone expect when he comes to know about a film made under the Yash Raj Films banner?Of course,a romantic love story with songs picturised in Switzerland,etc.etc.In short,one always expects this banner to churn out fairytales,but this time if you think the same,then you`re wrong.Their latest film ?Dhoom?,is a complete action-packed,thriller film.This film has everything different from those typical Yash raj films.
In this film,there is a completely different cast from other Yash Raj Films,except for Uday Chopra (he has worked in many Yash Chopra`s films) and Abhishek Bachchan(he was there in Yash Chopra`s ?Hum Tum?,in a special appearance,but ?Dhoom? can still be called his first film with this banner).The music is completely different from all the songs from this banner.There are no romantic,Jatin-Lalit songs.With Yash Raj Films turning on a new leaf,will it be beneficial for them to change the theme of their film?
THE FILM:
Yash Raj Films. ?Dhoom?,produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Sanjay Gadhvi,stars Abhishek Bachchan,John Abraham,Uday Chopra,Esha Deol and Rimi Sen.This film has been creating ?dhoom?,since its trailers are on air.Watching all the smart motor bikes being used by the heroes of the film,would excite anyone.The trailors which show an ESPN sports,kind of a look have attracted lots of attention,mainly from the youth.One expects this film to comepletely drive you crazy and the question which remains is that does this thriller,turns out to be entertaining?Of course it does?.
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Jai Dixit(Abhishek Bachchan):Jai Dixit is a very smart and intelligent cop,who is always off to solve robbery cases and to arrest all the robbers.This time he is after one such thief whom it is not very easy to arrest.Will Jai get his hands on this thief?Abhishek Bachchan does an excellent job as Jai.He is getting better and better with each and every film.The actor is very talented and this film will definitely give him a hit.With two other heroes in the film,he makes his own position and has his own charm.His scenes with Ali (Uday Chopra) are very entertaining,and it is mostly because of Abhishek Bachchan.After watching AB jr.,in this film as Jai,you cannot imagine any other actor doing this role.An unavoidable performance!
2.Kabir(John Abraham):Kabir is an evil perfectionist with an attitude.For him,robbery is a child`s play and he is so smart that he doesn`t even get caught by the police.John Abraham,also does a good job.After ?Saaya?,this is John`s best performance.He has improved a lot from what he was in ?Lakeer?,etc.Also,the character of Kabir really suits him well.He is good in scenes such as while he is being chased by Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan).Now,we expect him to give a good performance again,in his forthcoming films such as ?Madhoshi?.
3.Ali(Uday Chopra):Ali is a very good rider of motor bike and he is a car mechanic by profession.He dreams of having his own family,wife,children,etc.When Ali meets jai,he helps jai to get the robbers caught,whom Jai is after.Uday Chopra,does an amazing job.He is a very confident performer,and it shows in this film.His comedy timing,face expressions and dialogue delivery are all brilliant.He makes you fall in love with the character,Ali.This performance will surely give him lots of success and lots of appreciation from the audiences.
4.Sheena(Esha Deol):Sheena,is a very modern and ?bindaas?,type of girl,who has no worries at all and who is a very mysterious character.This is not your regular girl-next-door kind of a gal.She is also the one whom Ali wants to get married with.Esha Deol has changed a lot with this film.Here,we get to see her in a new avatar.While every ?behenji?,is trying to become a babe,Esha Deol,has also done the same thing,through this film.Here,she provides all the oomph,dancing and sizzling and she does it well.She is already improving and that she has proved us in ?LOC Kargil? and ?Yuva?.She does a fine job in this film too,where she has a small role.Let`s hope to see more of her.
5.Sweety(Rimi Sen):Sweety,is the sweet wife of the brave cop,Jai.She is very simple and innocent,at heart.She loves animals and of course,her hubby,jai,to whom she is happily married.Rimi Sen,looks really smart and sexy.Her face expressions are very natural and she acts well too,but as this is a male-dominated movie,she doesn`t get much scope to perform.Let`s see whther she will get a lengthier role in her next releases or not.
Others,in the remaining cast,do a good job,in their respective roles.Perizaad ''Joggers Park'' Zorabian,also makes an appearance and looks good.
THE STORY:
A C.I.D Jai Dixit has been a very successful cop but this time he and his whole police department cannot solve one mysterious case.A gang of robbers,which is led by Kabir has given the whole Police Department of Bombay,some sleepless nights.Kabir and his gang are geniuses when they have to make robberies.They use their ?talent? of robbery during nights,where as during days they are just normal pizza delivery boys.Jai,is after this gang,but as all the members of this gang are so smart,Jai has not been able to arrest them.One day through his wife,Jai meets Ali.
Jai suspects him to be a thief,first but he turns out to be a stupid car mechanic,who is day and night dreaming of getting married to a girl and have kids.When Jai realizes how well Ali can ride bikes,Jai decides to take help from Ali for chasing Kabir.When Kabir gets to know about the Jai-Ali unity,he challenges Jai to catch him or just resign from the job.As Jai,is a very proud and an arrogant cop,he doesn`t move away and accepts the challenge.So,now,what will happen?Will Jai be able to win this challenge?Will Ali be able to use his talent of riding bikes for this mysterious case?Or will Kabir be the winner?For knowing the answers,see ?Dhoom?.
THE WORK OF THE CREW:
Sanjay Gadhvi`s direction is amazing.After directing a fairly entertaining film,?Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai?,he is back again with a wonderful film.He has handled many scenes very well.The introduction of all the characters in the film is very well done.With introduction of each and every character the film gains more interest of audiences.The scene,where jai meets Ali for the first time,at his house is a nice one.The 'fun' scene is the one where Jai goes to a market with Ali on his bike and he ends up fighting with a don,there.Another gripping scene is the one where,Kabir challenges Jai to either catch him or leave the job.
