My list has only 5 indipop albums and not 20, simply because good indipop albums are very few and far between to have any kind of review on them. The albums were judged based on the originality, melody, rendition and repeat value.

You can shuffle the rankings of the albums in any order, it doesn't matter coz all the albums listed below are worthy of being called #1.

Deewana:

It's one of those near perfect albums which has no mediocre numbers just to fill up the album space. It's hard to single out the best song from the album. The songs have a retro nostalgic feel to them which can be attributed to the nice lilting melody and Sonu Nigam's voice reminiscent of Mohd. Rafi. The instrumentation and lyrics are just about perfect gelling well with Sonu's voice. It's a treat overall. Need I say more.

Boondein:

A refreshing album which has lyrics, tune and instrumentation as smooth as'Silk'. The trio has done a commendable job in presenting live acoustic, unadulterated music with a lot of ingenuity and style. They have used the piano, guitar and flute to good effect.'Dooba Dooba' is one classy song creatively done with a great theme going for it under water.

Pal: Leslie Lewis is the king of Indian Rock and Roll. KK does full justice to his compositions. In fact its KK's first non-filmi album as a solo artist. A nice guitar lining to each song gives them a great dimension. I can't help feeling that the songs have a'Cliff Richard' stamp all over them.  Personal Favorite: Yaroon Dosti

Sochta hoon: A rare feel-good album by Babul Supriyo who has composed as well as rendered the songs beautifully. Barring a couple of forgettable numbers, I think all the songs are hummable. It's evident from his songs that his idol is Kishore Kumar. The title song, 'Sochta hoon' shows that he can yoodle just like Kishore. It's a nice mushy love song which has a Beetle-like harmony and some nice guitar interludes. The guitar riffs has an uncanny similarity to that used in one of Enrique Eglasias's song, 'Escape'. But the similarity ends there.

Dhoom: This was one of the first Indipop albums which played a key role in fostering a resurgence in the genre. It's more of a Hindi Rock album with great ballads, some foot-tapping upbeat numbers and also has a song on the blues scale. Comes across as an album made with a lot of passion and energy.'Dhoom Pichuk' and'Sha na na' are fun-filled tracks.'Tum' and'Tumse pyaar' are wonderfully composed ballads.

Other albums worth mentioning are Shobha Mudgal's'Ab ke Sawan', Colonial cousin's first album, 'Breathless' by Shankar Mahadevan and Lucky Ali's Sifar.
