I am a big Guru Dutt fan, though the last guru dutt movie I saw was aeons ago. I have seen his pyasa, kagaz ke phool and one of my favourite movie of all time - Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam and been enamoured by all three. Though I was too young to understand the movies I was still drawn towards it and...Read more

=> Tarun, Also I feel with Saawariya, SLB reached his pinnacle over his obsession with beauty. It is as if after Khamoshi he has fallen in love with beauty and with each movie he has increasingly sacrificed the soul to achieve superficial beauty. => Toorad, Yes it was supposed to be a f...airy tale but even a fairy tale has a structure. Similarly love at first sight is a staple of bollywood movies - yes. If SLB also wanted to convey love at first sight then why get inspired from white nights which was clearly not about that. And I thought Sonam's character was no different from the character of any of our Bollwood cookie cutter heroines. Most of our heroines in an average bollwood movie keeps obsessing over the hero, is coqettish and flirtatious. And the bimbo reference was to do with the superficialness of the entire movie right from the director to the actors and sets. Everyone went about capturing beauty at the expense of everything else. But then again if you have liked the movie, you definitely would have seen some merits in it and I am not going to dispute that. Beauty as they say lies in the eye of the beholder.Read More

=>Smita, Yes OSO is full of Cinematic liberties but OSO was supposed to be about that- a brain dead fultu masala movie. Saawariya was supposed to be this intense love story and here the cinematic liberties would have been o.k. if the protagonists were better fleshed out since that was not the... case the faults stood out glaringly. =>Nidhi, Thanks =>Rohit, Again thanks and I guess to each his own. =>Ips, I agree. Jaaneman was a good example of a musical. It was fun wacky and yet touching. Even SLB's own Khamoshi was a wonderful musical in the true sense. The scene where Helen dances to bid goodbye to the Piano was really good and still stands out as one of the best choregraphed and poignant musical numbers. Read More

==> Vikrant Thanks! ==> Moviezombie SRK played Don as a very flamboyant character and I think that what was so interesting about it. Even I sincerely hope there is a sequel. ==> Kavita, To each his own. I do not remember much about the original Don and I think the current Don makes... no pretensions about being a classic. I think the current movie is just Frahan's and Shahruks effort to give us some James Bond type or MI type Bollywood movie rather than a classic. ==>Satish, I again reiterate to each his own. I agree there is no emotion or anything as such in the movie. But I genuinely enjoyed the movie as a complete Time pass.Read More

Apparently the name 'Black' was also 'inspired'. Kieslowski the renowned European director had made a trilogy called red, white & blue which was critically acclaimed. And in these movies depending on the name, the same colour was used throughout in the movie. So in the movie Red he used red wherever... possible, same with Blue & white. SLB has tried the same thing with his Black and copying it further he has also used the same chimes (which rani keeps touching whenever she is thinking) which was used in Blue. And after all this people call Black a masterpiece.Read More

I don't think I will be seeing the movie. I have heard that this movie is 'inspired' by the english movie Cactus flower. In cactus flower the doctor ends up with the nurse, who does salman end up with in this.

Please watch the movie Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. In that movie there is one scene where salman spells out the money that he would offer preity for carrying his baby. This scene was supposed to resemble the scene in Pretty woman where gere offers money to julia . That one scene put to rest whatever ...doubts I had of Preity as an actress. She cannot act. She just plays herself in all her movies. So whether it's lakshya, Kal Ho na ho, Veer zaara or any other movie only the costumes and maybe the level of loudness keep changing. So please saying that she is the best actress in India is truly insulting to all other actresses.Read More

U mean u realized Filmfare awards were a big fraud only after ash got the award. come'on I guess by now everybody knows that Filmfare awards is more of a popularity awards contest. Regarding your views on Ash, your well within your rights to feel the same, however I do feel you are not objective i...n your review. I think as a performer she has grown by leaps and bounds. Her performance in Raincoat was so far removed from her performance in her first film. Yes she is not a natural performer like Kajol, but I think she is one of the few actresses who sincerely tries to improve herself.Read More

Appreciate ur comments. Just one reaction to the comment made by Asnu - if good PR and knowing the important people is enough to have your wax statue at Tussauds then half of our Film industry should be represented there. PR may have helped but I do not think Tussauds selected Aishwarya only beca...use of PR. And anyways with the kind of media coverge she gets in India from her fashion faux pax to her acting skills, I guess she needs to sack her Indian PR agency fast.Read More
