Guys - mine is not an isolated problem and I have read similar experiences with many other vista owners. And believe me, if a manufacturer cannot produce all their products with same quality and precision, then their manufacturing process itself is wrong. Tatas have a long long way to go to reach th...at level of perfection and quality... I will never buy a tata vehicle in my life again...Read More

I too own a quadrajet and had a very similar experience. Tata jokers couldnt figure out that the problem with steering vibration was due to the defective good year tyre. Finally I had to find that out my own and got it replaced from good year directly! This was just one of the problems, I am still h...ave a number of other problems which are not yet rectified! None of these service guys can diagonise the problem properly and they often go for trial and error method, for which I dont have enough time and patience! I am planning to sell this junk car now after completing 17000 kms, and plannig to buy Hyundai i20 diesel. I want to have some peace of mind....Read More

What's the point in having lot of space and some goodies, if the basics of a car like breaking is not proper! Never buy Tata... you will regret!

I have taken a test drive of Logan diesel version some time ago and experieced the problem of hard power steering and engine noise. Also, the clutch is too hard. Ford Ikon TDCi or Dzire Diesel are good alternatives to this car.

I own Vista quadrajet Aura for last 7 months and now completed 14000 kms. From my experience, the build quality and reliability of this car is so poor and it is no where in comparison with Suzuki/Hyundai cars. Don't get carried away with the promises that sales guys make - the mileage is only 16 on ...highway and 13-14 in city. Apart from that, you would start hearing a lot of noises from various corners of the car once you complete 10,000 kms. I had very serious problems with respect to power steering, central locks and breaks, and got everything replaced in warranty. But the real pain point is that, you would end up spending your valuable time in garage than on roads. I would have visited Tata garages at least 10 times in addition to the regular services. So, my recommendation would be to go for any non-tata brand like Swift VDI, Ford Fusion TDCi or Logan Diesel. I regret a lot for having bought a tata car. :(Read More

Even though it uses the same 1.3 liter MJ engine, it produces an amazing 90 BHP compared to the 75 BHP that Swift, Palio and Vista run on. So, engine capacity does not matter, as long as it can produce decent power and torque. I suggest that you take a test drive of this car and write reviews...

vibs - what you said is your own perception. I too owned an older Indica previously, and then switched to Getz Petrol before moved into Vista. So, I can understand the difference that you are talking about, and I do agree that - it's a BIG leap improvement from V2. But, I still would like to stick t...o my opinion about this car, just because of the reason that it cannot compete with any other leading brands like Suzuki, Hyundai or Toyota in terms of overall quality. If you take a look around the latest generation cars like Swift, i10, A-star, Getz etc - you will realize one thing that, all these non-Tata brands have a great quality in common - predictable handling. You can precisely observe the response of your car based on your actions, be it on the steering, accelerator or break. Vista fails miserably in this area - it still rides like a small truck, with very little predictability! Of course, it's a got a lot of space, again like a Tempo - what's the point if it cannot get you the feel of a car. Next point about the suspension and ride - I agree that Tata's have fixed in some additional cushion to enhance this, but that’s something I consider as a secondary thing, because there is absolutely no rocket science behind such enhancements. Tata’s should be focusing more on their engineering part rather than providing goodies and comforts which anyone can do. I suggest that you take a long drive on i10 or Swift (both petrol and diesel) and try to experience the predictability factor that I am talking about. I am sure you will agree with me.Read More

Can you please tell me which model of Vista you have purchased? Also, can you please tell me how did you compute your mileage? I own Vista quadrajet aura, and I too drive only on highways. I never got a mileage more than 15.4 all the times. I used fulltank-use-full-tank method to compute it. I am re...ally suprized how you managed to get 18-21 mileage. Please share your experience.Read More

Tatas have really spoiled the Quadrajet engine in their Vista. It's a world class engine but it lost all it's qualities in Vista due to the poor engine mounting that Tatas have done. I am surprised, how can the same engine in Swift can produce 100 times better refinement, smoothness and fuel efficie...ncy when compared to Vista. Surely, Tatas have to learn many things in car making!Read More

Hey, that was a really useful review. I am currently researching for a good diesel car and I am kind of made up my mind for Logan DLX. I agree with your point on the solid build, but I was not fully satisfied with the engine refinement of Logan compared to Swift multijet. Logan diesel engine seems t...o be using the 1st or 2nd generation CRDi technology. It has the usual diesel vibrations and noise. Anyway, it's a value for money car for sure. Read More

There are some bare minimum qualities a car must have, which all Tata cars lack greatly. It may not be possible for someone to observe all such aspects while test driving, but you usually go by some optimistic assumptions. But if the car does not meet those expectations in the long run, then I would... say that it’s a clear case of cheating by the manufacturer.Read More

I don’t understand one thing - why should you be so cautious about using your car that you bought after paying a sum, when there are better cars available in the market for the same or less price which doesn’t really bother you so much, and you can use it peacefully as you like - be it switching on ...AC when you are climbing or overtaking in the busy traffic!Read More

What Satya said is absolutely correct - Getz 1.3 version gives not more than 8 kmpl! - it's true. I own a Getz Prime 1.1 version, which hardly makes up to 11-12 kmpl, even with such reduced engine power and torque. I am sure, this particular car is not designed to give a good milege. Of late, Hyunda...i has invented better performing petrol engines, and we can find that in their Verna models. It gives much better milege than the Getz engines. Hyundai must think of developing smaller engines with the same technology to be used in their small cars.Read More

Whatever said and done, the engine quality of DZire is a class apart from Logan and all other Tata makes. There is no other diesel cars in India currently can claim better performance than DZire/Sift diesel engines - that's for sure.
