Hi Sumedha, I don't know what would be more fun - watching wounded monkeys scream in horse-like fashion or kicking Vivek where he sorely deserves it. And I loved the bit about RGV's left toe... hilarious! Keep up the humour, farrukh

Great revu, Sumedha... minced no words - told it like it is! To me, Aamir's moustache and hair look completely out of place on his face. Being an NRI, your last para really touched me, and the line about The Rising having fallen but Desis rising is apt. Keep up the writing, proud desi girl.... Have you ever tried your hand on a film script? Jus wunderin! another desi in pardes, farrukhRead More

It's a wonderful start on mouthshut with such a poignant review, my friend. Keep it up. I particularly liked the following points you raised: 1. '...difference between possessing and protecting.' 2. '...education for a girl for her sake...' 3. '...marriage is still the reason for their b...irth...' 4. 'Freedom is more than just being allowed out for a pizza...' 5. 'How can we call ourselves free when we live in fear...' What I liked most about your review was that it revealed not just what the book says but what YOU feel and believe in. Reading about the issues reminded me of my grandfather who persuaded and pushed my grandmother to pursue her studies after marriage, personally tutoring her to get her a BA and and an MA degree... where are such people gone!! regards, farrukh Read More

Hi Pooja, Don't spend money on ad books just yet... make a friend in an ad agency near you - and ask him/her to show you his book collection sometime ;-) Oh, and if you want to discover more of me, watch 'Discovery Channel'... I'm the wild one you know.... lol. you encourage me, farrukh ... Read More

Hi Pooja, Very interesting review. Liked the way you write. The MassCom touch is coming through... As long as we hum songs as we go about our daily routines, and as long as people don't go out for a break when a song comes on in the cinema hall, Bollywood will continue to have song sequences ...in movies. A movie is not just a movie for us Indians, it's sometimes our only outlet to entertain ourselves (cry, laugh, and curse) and of course, to take a free trip to the Swiss Alps... ;-)Read More

Thank you Romes for the kind and encouraging words. Being a copywriter, one seldom comes across such appreciation. But that's business as usual. If you are a tubelight that lights up someone's life, we need lots more tubelights like you in this world for sure... LOL ! Since you have mentioned ...it, I will try to take time out to write more, God willing... You do too :-) regards, farrukhRead More

Very well composed review, Sujata. There's a very interesting fact in the face of the publishing industry's unnatural fetish with the tortured-women-in-Islam plot: Islam is growing fastest in the educated/liberated/civilised West. More than half its converts are WOMEN! One of the most inter...esting ones is Yvonne Ridley, a British journalist who was captured by the Taliban. They let her go with the promise that she would find out more about Islam. She eventually turned Muslim and a vocal one at that - she was fired by her newspaper. These are the Muslim women the media just doesn't want you to see! It's good to see people who can see through the stereotypes, sharp people like you! regards, farrukhRead More

Loved going through your review... the parts I liked were the questions that would arouse curiosity... the trivia stuff, and of course like you, I do not like the silly depiction of India even if it be only a story considering that for some people, India is only what they have seen in the movies ! ... Good work! regards, farrukhRead More

The way you have written this review really reflects the respect you have for Hazrat Moinuddin Chishti (may God's mercy be upon him). It is enlightening to read about the lives and teachings of saints and see how they attained such proximity with God that their prayers for other people were answ...ered by Him. Lives of all great men remind us We can make our lives sublime And departing leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time... regards, farrukhRead More

I treid but could not find the names of five books in this review. So, how do I know which books are being recommended? Specifics are good sometimes ;-) Good review anyway... at least for starters. Write more, sister. Where there is a will, there is a way. farrukh

Dear Angel 18... You have given my review its lowest rating so far just because you haven't heard about these movies?? Strange criteria of rating indeed. Thanks for going through the review, anyway. Your involvement is appreciated. By the way, I did go through your writing. Rated it highly ...;-) farrukhRead More

Hi Alpi... your review was very well written... here's what i really liked: 1. The title was very imaginative 2. The 'odlee-odlee' bit made me smile 3. The lyrics helped me appreciate the songs more than if you had just mentioned the title of the song 4. The English translations were though...tful 5. The songs of course were very good... after all it's Kishore da's portfolio. 6. The bit about your mom getting worried was very interesting - my mom didn't like me hearing some eerie songs too... Hope to read the one about Mukesh tooRead More

Hi Faisal, The review is very informative - well done. Is Pavitra Parabhakar that Indian version of Spiderman with 'dhoti' and all? I guess so - nice way to round up the article. keep writing... farrukh
