I, with many friends, went to see Kaal with a lot of expectations. Well, we were all VERY disappointed! This film started out slick and took a turn for the worst as it progressed further. The only actor in the movie who deserves some credit is John Abraham. He was the only one who suited his role and whom you didn't want to slap.

The story revolves around a group of people (Vivek, John, Eesha, Lara, and two TV actors) who venture into the jungle, where there have been numerous gruesome killings. These killings have been blamed on man-eating tigers, but John, as a researcher knows better. The method of killing is not the kind done by a tiger, but possibly a human. This is what John and wife Eesha are there to investigate. Vivek and his group just venture in there for some adventure and bump into John and Eesha when the car breaks down. They all face many obstacles and strange occurances in the jungle, (almost getting eaten by tigers, drownings etc.) when they bump into Kaali, (Ajay Devgan who wears eye liner in this movie). Kaali apparently lives in the jungle and tries to help them out. He tells them the myth of the spirit who is killing people who break the rules of the jungle. I will leave the rest of the story for people to watch as I don't want to reveal the entire story. OK, lets talk about characterization. Vivek is SOOOO irritating, I swear if he was in front of me I would kick him where it hurts OVER AND OVER again. Lara is perfect for the role of his girlfriend, because she was actually projected as someone dumb enough to like Vivek. Let's just say she had a more substantive role in Khaakhi where all she did was an item number. All she does is scream (in a very irritating horse-like way), wear boob revealing half tops, and mini skirts (IN THE JUNGLE, MIND YOU!) She plays the very dumb helpless girl, who just clings to the egotistical Vivek like an infant to its mom. John is the only actor worth anything in this movie. He actually acts well and suits the role (and looks really hot as usual.) Eesha is really not suited to him as his wife. She again plays a ditz who wears miniature shorts and boob revealing half tops in the middle of the jungle. Eesha is shown to have a knack for doing exactly what people tell her not to do. She also needs to carry water bottles cause her being a little too thirsty is what leads to her death!Ajay Devgan, as Kaali, is just plain irritating and really not frightening, but laughable.

The story could have been slick. The scenes could have been frightening. Karan Johar in his interview, said that this film was in the Ram Gopal Verma school of filmaking. I STRONGLY disagree. Ram Gopal Verma's left toe could have made a FAR better movie than this!!! This was like a bad spoof on ''Jungle.'' Initially, the scenes were frightening, for example heads getting chopped off, and the pretty cool tigers. But then the scenes become SOO repetitive that people actually laugh when they watch the numerous heads being chopped off and Eesha and Lara screaming like wounded monkeys.

According to a friend who watch the movie last night with me, ''It is the most pathetic, annoying, and brain damaging movie going experience. A word of advice, NEVER EVER TRUST TARAN ADARSH'S MOVIE REVIEWS! They are absolutely misleading and I have come to learn over the last movie reviews, that he is a MORON. He actually gave this demented movie 4 stars!''

I would have to say, the best actor award for this movie should go to the tigers. The director, Soham, needs to get the worst director of the year award. Watch this movie at your own risk. But remember, ''you may not have any Baal Left after watching Kaal.''
