Lets take it this way. Yes, Blabla is a waste. Think of you being in the shoes of a blabla driver... you have cancelled your journey for some reason. So use blabla ONLY for travelling to work.

I always knew it was bullshit. If you have part timers as cabbies, you ought to run it as a cab business. You need to have bla bla car stands demarcated on GPS apps, where you wait for bla bla. There should be security in India for the women. And a bla bla volunteer should report performance data as... to how many were available during past X hours. None of it is in place. It is a poorly designed IT based business. Open ended and shitty :PRead More

Why i love the 80's?

Oct 08, 2012 08:03 PM

Great writing Indeed very lucid and captures those yester years extremely well. In course of work as a programmer during 90's, I could tell you which manual to find the concepts on DEC-C device level programming on Openvms. Unlike google, that we have fallen slave to , today :) I would also lik...e to compare songs from those years, to those that are prevalant today. I cant forget the passion with which Yesudas sung ''madhuban khushbu deta hai'' or for that matter even Mann sahab's ''dil da mamla hai''... at the end, can only say KOI LAUTAA DE MERE BITEY HUEY DIN.....Read More

Really useful. I rate HSBC at an overall 8/10. It has an excellent infra and growth opportunities. You work under the guidance of European managers, who are knowledgeable and straight forward. Excellent company culture.

Great work, but didnot find 2, 5 and 6 much practical. Using threads where you envisage , it can provide you with a performance edge , calls for a thread oriented review of the design, first. Threads or LWP's are tools provided by the OS to make your app work like a horse. But too much of it careles...sly, would end up in the app being an elephant. Especially , the concept of thread pooling and persistence can improve upon performance considerably, if designed with care. Look for avenues where vertical scalability can be provided. Throwing oo design patterns out of the window means to me, like, throwing oo design outa the window. Again, we ought to have a positive approach. In my experience, as you have said, I have an association with some very bright developers. When I proposed GRASP (info-expert) in one of the communication handler plugins for a product we were developing, they were of the openion that this was a wastage of time. However, in due course, when I demonstrated the usability, and how effective the simple concept was , for maintenance and design, they adopted it with all the reason. My belief is in a philosophy of looking for more underneath the (what we percieve as) ash. You may find an invaluable gemstone beneath. If not, you would still gain. But a good review I must say. Mr Soni, I agree with u completely. BUT, my intent here is not to support reservation. If u read my article carefully, u wud find that I have mentioned the END OF THE RESERVATION TREE , with one member of an sc / st / obc ... family. You provide a one time end to reservation. Today, these meanial po...liticians like Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh are harping on reservation , because the SC ST OBC population has grown considerably. Seats are fixed or increased marginally, so how does the politician seccure a vote bank, if there is competition amongst SC ST OBC ? To make their political careers strong, they have made India the sacrificial goat, putting the future in the hands of SC STs. I hope u wud now agree!!! All the bestRead More

Remedy for the reservation problem: A) IIT / IIM / Premier Institutes Provide reservation to ONLY ONE MEMBER of an OBC / SC / ST family. Arnab, Great job done by you. I appreciate your effort completely. Does transmission play a role too in making a choice between petrol and diesel? Diesel is indeed powerful. But in most cases where diesel is most optimally deployed in terms of cost-benefit, are locomotives. If you observe, diesel... is a born leader when power is the concern. Diesel engines can run for weeks without a shutdown. In fact diesel locos have a startup and shutdown schedule!!Smaller the d.engine, the messier it is. Larger diesels have electric transmitters or hydraulic ones. Certainly, I believe the CV joint is not a good choice for interfacing with a diesel. At the min, it should be a differential transmission. Compare the knocking and resulting vibration in case of an Indica and a 1210 SE. So large SUV's like the Hummer and the Scorp can make efficient use of a diesel prime mover. In my humble openion, we should restrict diesels to the trucks and locos, and not eat up from their quota of the fuel. Please do critisize and point out flaws. I have written most part of this writeup from my locomotives experience. Thnx. SurojitRead More

I see your point, but at the same time, felt you wanted to convey the fact that if I bought the 2006 model, it would be a lot better, hopefully. Amounts of the order of 4-5lakhs are not for experimentations, right? Neither do u want to be a guineapig (as my boss at Siemens used to say). Tata is a go...od name, in fact I like tata so much because TISCO helped shape my career. And yes, even I took a test drive of the IndicaV23 June 2004, but honestly , disliked it coz it still had it's stearing column vibrating, which would grow in years. So your rating reflects entirely your views, but I want to bring forward my agonies and distrust over that brand before people who want to spend their hard earned money.
