I wish Tata motors does something about the loss of confidence people have in the car . It's like experiencing a hefty sum of hard earned money going down the drains.
I bought the lump of metal in Oct 2000. People said the car was quite good, and had an attractive mileage. A new car always feels good to test drive.
In all it's ability, it inherited all features of the 1210 or 407. The immense noise had a few brows raising in the locality. More irritating was a host of flaws in the engine, the design and overall comfort. I was stunned to find that the oil pump had burnt out after 3 years of service. The next big shock was oil leaks and vibration levels far from being comfortable. The driver has to drive by chance. The front end is out of vision. I have also had to replace the battery in a short span of 2 years.
I feel, if one has to go in for that segment of cars, Maruti is a good buy. I went in for a WagonR in 2004 June. I have travelled 8000+ Kms, and could even gather the courage to drive from Bangalore to Pune, in 16 hours!!
IN all, Indica is a primitive car, with low grade engineering into it. I donot want to dishearten people who own Indica , but this writeup may be useful for people who are looking at buying that car.
