Hi, I also have a 2005 Esteem Vxi. Its a great car. Virtually maintenance free. Gives me 15 KMPL in city driving conditions and around 19 KMPL on highway. Its a pleasure to drive. One suggestion, unlike Premier Padmani or any non MPFI vehicle, you should always remember one thing. When you start the... ignition, you should never press the accelerator. And of course a good habit to have is never to keep your left foot on clutch pedal all the time. Because people who keep their foot on clutch pedal unknowingly keep the clutch partially pressed. This leads to two things, poor mileage and wearing out of clutch plate in just no time. If you don't have this habit, try to develop it. One more thing, when ever you touch 60 KMPH, shift to the 5th gear. It will help you get a good mileage. Well, that's about it. Happy driving !Read More

Well, I agree, coz I am driving an Esteem Vxi for last 4 years. Its a great car. However let me tell you that the car is out of production now. Maruti Suzuki has stopped manufacturing it. Swift DeZire has taken its place. Though you can always buy a second hand...

Well Mr. Sharma, I don’t agree with you on several counts. I have been driving Esteem Vxi since september 2005. And I have not yet gone for a battery change. Yours must have had a specific problem probably. As for the pickup in the 4th gear, well, you never get it anyways. The forth gear is not mean...t for getting a speedy pickup anyways. You have to shift to a lower gear when pickup is needed. That’s what gears are for. That’s the very theory of a stick-shift gear assembly. And lower cars are more sportier, and that’s the beauty of Esteem. It looks much more composed, yet sportier with that low seating position and ground clearance. Tall boy designs have a different aim altogether. But for people who love sporty designs, low car is always a choice. Cheers, -Tarun Read More

I bought this phone from Futurebazaar.com (it is the online reseller of the India’s supermarket giant ‘Big Bazaar’). I got a great deal. The actual street price of the phone as printed on the package in India is Rs. 1655.00 (~ $41 /GBP 20 /EUR 30). However there was a 3 day discount ...Read more

Hey, that was quite a nicely done review. But let me correct you. Mini has nothing to with Italy. Mini is very British as British as it gets. And is not just a car of yesteryears. It is still very much in production and very popular in England and Europe. Mini of yesteryears was more like a Premier ...Padmini if it were only hatchback. In fact, Mini Cooper of today seems to have inspired the design of Swift, not the old model Mini Read More

That's what I had been searching for. A review on the magnificant train by some one who has actually experienced it. Great review. However it would have been much more reading friendly if you had broken it into paras and kept space between paras. Keep up the great writing!

Yes right, here in UK, Chevrolet has come out with new look Matiz. Matiz is now a brand owned by Chevrolet. SO that surely is a good news as it might be soon relaunched in India. And once that happens, it will be the rebirth of a very good car. Matiz has always been a great car, technologically much... ahead of the crowd. I am happy on the prospects of its revival in India once again.Read More

Very informative review. The way Maruti dealers are treating customers is appalling. Not letting the top end model of the car to be test driven and charging 50K for merely booking is bizarre. BTW, I don't understand your complaining about the seat belt light flashing. Why didn't you put on the se...at belt. I mean the first thing I do is buckle up.Read More

Friends this is a typical reaction I always get from people usually. That Linux is not as easy. Come on. Give me a break. Linux is easy. Every one has got so used to and so accustomed using other OSes that they don't see the fact, the TRUTH! How many people who say Linux is difficult have actuall...y tried it. Try it and tell me. Nothing compares to Linux. Every thing is telling me to just use Linux and only Linux personally. I can't ever think of doing online money transactions on a non-Linux machine because I know there can be some hidden spyware and prying eyes scanning my activities on non-Linux machines. Not on Linux. No virus problem, and in my last 8 years on Linux, there had been no occassion when my computer crashed once. Moreover I don't need to defrag my hard drive now and then. And a computer on Linux does not keep slowing down with time as happens on some other proprietary OSes. There is not a single thing you can't do on Linux, playing songs, e-mails, internet browsing, database management, webpage designing to just name a few. And every thing with a beautiful, intutive, fresh and easy to use graphical front end. Because you have not used Linux before, it is natural to find it different (and hence difficult !), but then it is the mind set which makes it look intimidating. The fact is give Linux to someone who has not used computers before and he will be equally comfortable on it. I have tested this concept on many people. And believe me once you get the hang of it, you will never look back. Instead of trying to make themselves as comfortable as they can while suffering the burden of monopoly of a software giant, people should choose freedom. Cheers, TarunRead More

Hey, that is one stellar review that I have read in a long time and one of the best done so far for Swift. Very scientifically done review. Great Job. Its good to know the length parameters and how these compare with others. So definitely Swift is roomier of others at least in terms of cabin. Boo...t space is the only downside !Read More

Very concise review. Well done. I agree with you on air bag front. And I hope Swift sets the trend for others in this segment. There seems to be one mistake however. You have mentioned the model year of the car as 2004, which can't be! Please check and correct.
