this is a corrupt nation full of corrupt politicians and industrialists... and tata who we thought is not amongst the cheats, now seems like baap of bad unreliable services... I have recently bought this piece of junk and using it in Bangalore HSR layout area... well what can I say, it reminds me... of my college days, that noisy dial up modem, its irritating sound and watching the page load slowly... tata-ji thank you for giving me free trip in you time machine..!! tata fraudband is nothing but a dial up connection which doesnt make that screeching sound when connecting.... ratan tata should stop his search for a successor, there is no need for all this trouble... TCS known for its malpractices, Tata Motors.. known for burning nanos, and various failed models in past... So dear Tata ji, thanks for making India proud by buying foreign companies, I would suggest you to settle there and take your fraud services with you... so that we Indians can stop wasting our time and money on your junk third class fraudband... go die and please dont worry about successor... thank you..!Read More

I think you should not mix your recharge related issues in your service review. Electronic recharge involves various parties to complete successfully. It should work most of the times, but in case something goes wrong, it is very hard to pinpoint where things went wrong. In your case, it was IC...ICI Bank, Visa/MasterCard gateway or sometimes they use Oxigen also...Read More

finally... after 15 months of struggle with E63 has ended... moved to blackberry... relieved... seems like using a good simple user interface after a decade...:) well, bye to my friends here who were very disappointed by my E63 review... so before I post this comment... some more problems/bugs or... a ''functionality'' that I could not learn how to use: 1. E63 has three players, Media Player, Radio Player and Internet Radio Player...one uses left-right for volume control, other uses up-down for volume control... and for volume control on Internet Radio... well its not there... its there... but you have to search google or its e63's user manual..!! 2. I liked kid style of programming... if you set a password for E63, when entered a password to unlock...phone happily displays ''Code Accepted''... well it looks like Nokia has hired freshers..! reminds me of first C program... enter your name... and when you enter your name... screen displays welcome and name entered..!! nothing serious, but no serious UI would say anything if information you entered is valid... ever seen gmail, yahoo mail saying ''username and password accepted''...? 3. Recently started using GPRS and configured email accounts.. with all those emails... its so called search would often choke to death.. dead slow search...Read More

fully agree man...!! I too suffered for 15 months with this chapraasi chaap phone... it is too dumb to be called smart phone... apart from call logs, Nokia has no idea of designing UI... if u notice there r three media players.. Media Player, Radio Player, Internet Radio Player... and now the worst... part... volume control is different for all three players... in one volume is adjusted by pressing left-right, another one it is up-down and guess what on internet radio, volume control is hidden..!!! u have to search google... in case someone here is looking for it, press that corner key and press up-down to control.. u have to keep corner key pressed... :) In case you have set a password for the phone, the phone is so dumb that sometimes keypad light wont turn on in case you wish to press some numbers like when calling some customer care... well after 15 months of struggle, I moved to Blackberry... it has excellent call organization... it shows who is calling and whether they r calling from home, mobile etc. Also when I look a contact in address book, it shows me all recent activity from that contact... so a big NO to NOkia and even a BIGGER NO to Nokia's darling Symbian...Read More

Just few points from my side.. (before I start, I would like to share that I moved from Nokia E63 to Blackberry Bold 9780 sometime back. I used Nokia E63 for 15 months... Nokia UI is confusing and Symbian is an outdated OS) 1) Please don't judge a phone by how expensive are the services. Cost of... internet services are decided by the provider, and hence no fault of the phone. By this logic you can say that all vehicles running on petrol are bad because petrol is costly and all vehicles running on diesel are good as diesel costs less. Blackberry is the master of emails, others are jack of all trades master of none... Nokia will give you some of all things, but BB gives you all of one thing called email/messaging 2. QWERTY keypad... well every car has engine... so nothing special about engine..?? is this your logic..?? I agree BB's are overpriced and overhyped, but it doesnt mean you compare features plainly without taking into consideration the quality and useability 3. ''Blackberry again claims good speeds for internet, but 3G is way too faster than even Wi Fi, so 3G technology is much much faster than BB'' --- BB never claimed or any phone maker never claims good speed of internet... Speed of internet depends on the provider. Speed of website also depends on where servers are located and quality of web hosting. I dont know what you mean when you say ''3G tech is much faster than BB''-- how can you compare a technology with a phone..?? Can you say Airtel DTH is much better than Sony TV..?? Camera: No comments, but IPhone and BB do not fall in same price range... BB is 26k and Iphone is 35k+.. 10k is big difference... OS: Well I found Symbian UI very confusing and horrible... I agree with your point of updating existing contact and sending business card. What frustrated me most of Nokia was that in SMS I had no way to search for SMS when I am in inbox.. I have to go all the way to office>search and let me tell you the search is horriblRead More

ok Mr.lg.rsankar,kevin: thnks for ur contribution to help me make better use of my phone..! I agree that I still have that comfort zone with HTC which I used for 3+ years... I got HTC in US from TMobile for subsidized price under contract.. hence I feel very sad spending 11000 on E63 here in India...... probably paying less for phone there made me enjoy the phone more..!! lets see, how it goes.. else will sell it to somebody to get HTC-WinMobile or HTC-android... probably m not smart enough to use these'smart phones'..!! BTW, my E63 doesnt get charged via USB.. :( so pessimistic again..Read More

Response: Sorry, you did not read my complain properly. My ask was that, once I have composed my message, how can I select a number from my call history... what u have suggested is the opposite, i.e select a number then compose the message.. #11:(bonus) I am so sad that phone has only 3...0 days max of call history... it was very frustrating experience when I was looking for a job change.. I got a call from one of the good companies, cleared one round of interview as well, but for some reason I was told that they have stopped hiring due to recession.. well, after a month or so, I thought let me call that number again to see if HR has any updates on that position... well, to my surprise, phone holds max 30 days of history.. why delete user data..?? cant understand that.. phone has good inbuilt memory... my last phone had call history as old as 15-16 months.. #8: Dont say ’’What is the use of Real Player’’...rather say ’’i dont know to use the Real Player’’... Goto Menu -> Media -> RealPlayer then select it, in Options you have File Open provision. Response: Thanks for sharing that. The menu item 'saved clip' was confusing for me.. so neve...r tried..!! I feel nokia can get rid of this additional menu entry of saved clip and directly provide phone memory and storage card option.. this is how most of the players are organized.. #9: For number based Search make use of Advanced SEARCH feature available inside Office applications. You can set that in shortcut button, if you find it difficult to access. Your general keyboard typing is not designed to search numbers! Response: Thanks for sharing this. Although, I wud still expect a phone to be very straightforward when it comes to numbers, contacts and searching them... it should start searching as and when I start pressing keys on dial pad.. this is how windows mobile phone do.. users are not expected to go deep in menu and select things and then search... and still the search u mentioned does not search my call history.. ability to search call history is very critical to users who call lot of unknown numbers... for example if u r searching for house, or calling numbers on classifieds etc. In such scenarios it is highly desired that search results include call history also.. If you would like to feel what I expect, u can use google search or windows 7, as soon as u start typing search results from all areas/type get displayed.. I know cell phone cant have processing power of a PC, but for a phone, contacts, numbers and history are very critical things.. #10: You can send SMS to a number which need not be there in your contact list. Goto Call log -> select a number you want to send SMS -> Options -> Create message...SEND Not necessarily the number should be saved in your contacts. Read More

#7: Possibilities of Quick Battery Discharge a. You havent charged your phone properly. b. Bluetooth is Turned ON in your phone c. Some of the applications are still running in your phone d. Your area network is very poor, As your phone keeps on looking for signals. e. Some of the messag...es are still pending in your OUTBOX and the phone is unable to send it due to network issues. I talk not less than 30 mins / day...I charge this phone once in 5 days, I haven’t seen such an excellent battery performance in any phones before.... Response: a. I have clearly mentioned that phone shows half charge (50%) when I go to sleep at 11 PM, I dont know what exactly u mean by charging the phone properly... to charge I connect phone to charger and charger to electric outlet.. and turn on the switch.. and make sure that there is no power outage.. this is how I charge.. b. No, I dont use bluetooth. I used it twice till date only for testing whether it works or not. c. ok, how to see which applications are running..? or how to make sure that no applications are running..? d. No, my area has a good coverage and I even know which tower is responsible for that.. it is clearly visible from my place.. no trees, high voltage transmission lines etc. e. No, I dont use GPRS, Outlook or wi-fi. When I use wi-fi I make sure I turn it off once I am done. No chances. I agree that battery life is much better then my earlier phone, I mean the best battery life I have seen, but my problem is not battery life, my problem is that phone shows incorrect information about battery. To be short, when it is showing half battery, it may be only 30% remaining... something like that..Read More

#4: Phone shows useless information. When u recieve a call, once connected it shows something like ’Call 1’. Dear Nokia engineers, what made you think that showing 'Call 1' wud be any help to the user..?? Why cant u keep showing the contact name and and number just like u show when the pho...ne rings..? The purpose of showing ’CALL 1’... ’CALL 2’... is to help user better in Call Conferencing & Call Swapping. They are shown only if the numbers are new or not saved in your contacts else it will display appropriate name. Conferencing and Swapping are important features in a business phone...so Nokia Engineers must have thought in that stand point Response: I will look into this... and update..!! #5: Almost all phones works this way. So it cannot be ’’World’s most horrible call log’’ Response: No, all windows mobile phones let you view the call duration when u select any entry from call history. Users are not required to go deep inside some menus to view the very basic details like duration.. #6: You should define labels or Signs in contacts while saving the number itself...and most important thing you should store the number in your phone memory only...and not in SIM....then only it will show you the details properly when a call comes. Response: I have defined labels for all contacts and that label is missing during an incoming call, for example if my manager calls from office number this is what is shown: Manager +91123456789 calling... While I expect to show something like: Manager +91123456789 (office) calling... Same (label) information is missing from call log as well.. call log entry shows direction, duration, contact name and number but not the label information..Read More

#2: The purpose of keeping 'SWITCH OFF' option in the Call End Button menu is to access 'Switch off' option easily. It hasbeen given priority coz thats the prime function of that key. That’s the Universal standard in mobile phones too. The Lock key is provided only as a secondary option the...re. Why are you using 'Call End' button to lock keys (As it is primarly meant for Ending the call / turning-off the phone). The best way to lock/ unlock phone is by pressing Topmost Left selection key and Function Key (bottom most left key) sequentially within 2 s Response: I disagree 200%. Easy access to 'Switch off' easily..?? what do you mean..? who told call end key's prime function is to allow 'easy switch off'..? Easy access is given for only those fetaures which most of the users would be using most of the times.. how many times u switch off your phone man..? There is absolutely no sense in keeping power off on as first item in menu.. it shud be afer lock phone.. coz a normal user would be locking the phone more often then switching it off..!! lock/unlock using key combination is better alternative.. thanks for sharing.. I didnt knew that #3: Why are you struggling so hard to save a number from SMS? E63 underlines numbers in SMS by default, You should use your scroller keys to select the number fully (until it is highlighted dark) then make use of Options to Save it to New contacts / Update existing contacts / Copy that number / Call to that number / Anything you wish to do... Response: No it doesnt underline numbers in SMS by default... u have to select 'automatic find on' from SMS Menu.. I tried this setting after reading ur comment. Thanks for sharing.Read More

Dear Mr. lg.rsankar, Thanks for the detailed comment on my review. At some points I agree, and some points I feel you probably read my review in a hurry and missed the finer detail of issues. Here's what I would like to say; #0: Your title says ’’Professional looking dumb phone with dumb ...OS’’... You rated least number of points for Style and Design...Then how are you mentioning this phone as Professional looking?...dont you think it’s Contradictory??? Response: The phrase 'Professional looking' is sarcastic, when I say Professional Looking, it means that it looks professional but it is not. Hence u felt that there is some contradiction in review and ratings #1: Answer 1: Why Not? Dont you think Camera is one of the important gadgets these days...Even in business dont you take group photos with your clients? Assign your own fav application to Left Selection Key & Right Selection Keys. Remember the shortcut keys are always customizable according to your choice! You need not live with the settings defined by Nokia...Got it? Response: Well, I dont know which business would often take group photos..!!! This is what I feel: whenever u provide a dedicated key it means it belongs to a functionality that would be used by most of the users most of the times.. Thats why horn is on a steering wheel of the car, and not under your seat.. Thanks for telling this simple procedure of getting rid of camera option from my screen... well, when I followed this path, I still did not get an option to set right key to show contacts.. I know there is a key for opening contacts near scroll pad... but by old habit my hand automatically goes to right key to look for contacts..Read More
