Overhyped. Review on BlackBerry Bold

Well sorry to disappoint but I think Blackberrys are the most overrated phones.

Let me put it point wise of what do I think about it:

1) Blackberry = Mails,

One thing that its famous for is the mails and I must say this is really useful and innovative.

(but on other phones mails can be accessed thru GPRS or 3G, and while the mails in BB get directly "pushed" to your phone, the charges for that are way too high, so if u access mails thru GPRS practically the download costs are much less than the BB charges) And besides Nokia is coming up with Push Mail tech, and Andriod Phones are also equipped with the similar tech. So fairly Blackberry scores just marginally here.

2) QWERTY keypad,

Ok every other phone in the market has one these days so not really special.

3) BB Surfing,

Blackberry again claims good speeds for internet, but 3G is way too faster than even Wi Fi, so 3G technology is much much faster than BB, use your imagination and test a 3G phone with 3G carrier, the costs are not as high as BB and its 10 times faster.

4) Camera,

Possibly the worst camera for that price range, even the I Phone falls under this category and its camera is much better than blackberry, let alone the Sony Erricsons and Nokias megapixel wars for considerably less price. I mean come'on, for the price BB cameras aren't really justified.

5) Blackberry Os,

Easy to operate, but the simple functions are jeopardized. For ex, u cant directly add a number to the phone directory for an existing person, it has to be tidiously copied and pasted (hell thats a lot of irritated time). Also a basic function like sending Business cards is non existent. U cannot transfer business cards.... hello !! even a china mobile does that. For all the apps you have to hunt and download and install and then feel as if u won a battle..... whereas in Nokia phones its basically all there. So if its rated as a "BUSINESS PHONE" there are better alternatives like the Nokia E Series or the Samsungs or the Sony Erricsons.

Symbian phones are much user friendly and the upcoming Android Phones are gonna rock the smart phones, Windows phones are basically love it or hate it, but then again the system is user friendly, so again I feel I am using a fairly basic phone with a BB Bold. And someone please tell me whats the huge hype about operating system 4 or 5. what is the difference between the os's??

So in theory if u are buying a Blackberry Curve for about 12k's and if u are buying a Blackberry Bold for 26k's whats the price premium justification?? if there is marginal difference in the Os and functions.

All in all I feel the Blackberrys are really overhyped and that the competition as really a lot to offer for a much lower price range.

This is purely my Opinion and I am sorry to hurt anyone with this, but I think practically Blackberry's are just Status symbol phones and nothing beyond that.
