true, there is no religion whatsover involved in this! The movie has great spiritual overtones, which is above all religious dogmas...
This review brought out the hidden gems in this movie!
If you still want only a Badsha or a Padayappa from
our Thalaivar, then he is always there to cater to ...it in his next outing with super-director Hari!
Enjoy!

quoting ur words,
'Indian movie scene when the Kamal’s daughter is burnt.. Shankar always likes to do some very disturbing scenes in every movie... more so when not needed.
'
I believe that the scene in 'Indian' was a major highlight in the movie and a much needed disturbing scene to sho...w why the father kamal had such a deep purpose to cleanse india.
Same for the jail scenes to show the other side of life and how thin the line between success and failure is.
Also, u have asked how those 'cheap' guys could maintain a distance with the girls during the dating scene.
Well, just because they were shown sighting girls, etc needn't make them cheap enough to violate a girl!
And the music was really stupendous, same for the picturization...
And if the entire POTA sequence was not required, then every movie could be dissected like this, saying that this sequence was not required and that sequence had no place in the script, etc...
It's the director's movie and for us, it is 'take it or leave it' -
...which is why we all have our different opinions!
keep writing!

great insights... i wish the makers bring out a 'inside the matrix' dvd explaining these subtler aspects of the movie...
but again, i wouldnt blame the movie for being so subtle, since the purpose is served- the makers probably didnt want to make things too clear: ...just wanted to make us ask th...e questions- For , every earnest question ultimately gets its answer...

the analysis about the society's malignations and the explanation for the Bharatiyar poem were apt.
Infact, these kind of movies have a deep message for humanity, at the individual level...
You could use html tags like and to italize/bold text for more effect!

punarvasu,
i respect ur sentiments against the scenes showing the boys rubbing themselves on aunties and girls...
BUT, There was no justification for those obscene acts, by the director. They were just shown as-is. thats all. The fact that its not good to do those things is well kn...own and doesnt need to be told. Thats why eve teasing is listed as a crime.
The positive message to society is that education is not the only way to succeed in life...
Also love can go together with career success (they are independent events), as opposed to popular notions held by the previous generation.
Also, there's a hit- out at the TV and the mags that use such 'obscene' images to promote their interests! No one's dared to protest them because it's they, the media, that control the society;s perception!
Also there was an indication that eve teasing is the by product of not being able to interact freely with girls at that age...
Ever heard of Eve teasing concept in buses and public places in the Western countries?
Every positive change in society is accompanied by mixed reactions.
A rule of inertia, i must say...

good review! The movie rocked, inspite of some glitches at the end...
btw,
The 'Bourne Identity' released last year, while Vetri Vizha was made 10 yrs back. So it was the former that looked similar to Vetri Vizha!

Time and again, some movie comes along, that confirms the theory that movie making is all about getting the attention of the viewer and taking them to a place that they cherish to be in. The sweet feeling when walking out of a theatre after a
good movie is just the tribute we pay to the film ...Read more

hey!
i guess you were quite biased when looking at this movie... or your age and gender prevented you from enjoying the jokes in this movie. The whole theatre was in splits of laughter for many many scenes, during the screening of this movie here in the US!
I realise the meaning of the proverb '...Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder' after reading this.
i can only add, 'Maybe u should look deeper into this movie to see its relative merits!'. that is if u r really interested in being non-subjective in your reviews!
