Boys.. huh . Review on Boys Movie

Boys was very pathetic in terms of presentation. The beginning was very good.. then It kinda went haywire and the director lost the vision.

Everything in the first half looked real with young irresponsible teenage boys.

But things got haywire when one of the boys does a Protima Bedi act to win the love of a girl. Very strange and stupid.

Now coming to the story in brief. Its about 5 boys who waste time in girls, sex and and end up running away from home and make a living which is obviously tough... and finally endup becoming pop stars.

The movie unfortunately did not have any MESSAGE to convey.

Its message could be interpreted as :

Flirt, while away your time, never study, dont listen to parents...if they have bad experiences with early love then dont listen to them, just do the opposite and finally... you become rock stars and sweep away MTV awards

pah !!! whats that supposed to mean ?

I personally felt the movie was cheap, obscene and lacked punch.

Now my usual dissection about the movie :

# A first year college girl gets married to another boy who is supposedly the same age as her. She may be 18 or 19 hence the marriage is legal for her, but what about the boy.. He is less than 21 in the movie and hence it is illegal for him to get married.. but the court has no objections to that....????

# All boys in this film are in Chennai - lusty, horny and cheap. How come in one song where they go dating with girls..they are maintaining a decent distance with a bunch of skimpily clad girls in swimsuits and shorts ??? Do girls really wear such clothes and frolic in the beach in Chennai ? not convincing.

# POTA case was having no sync with the script.. no need to show this kind of crap and the bad sight of toilets and vomitting.. Shankar shows some unbearable and unwanted scenes such as these ... I remember the Kadalan jail scene and the Indian movie scene when the Kamal's daughter is burnt.. Shankar always likes to do some very disturbing scenes in every movie... more so when not needed.

I dont think that toilet conditions and the boys throwing up food in the jail scenes was needed at all.. in the film. left me disgusted.

# Why are parents shown to be bad guys in this movie ? Which middle class parents will support and encourage such boys..What is the mistake of munna's folks if they dont want him to fall in love so young and want him to concentrate on his studies.. what is wrong if Harini's parents want her to go abroad and do an MS... I felt all parents were right in their strict behaviour and in imposing their hopes on their children.

# all boys and girls in this film are rebels and rude, see the scene where the short haired girl yells rudely 'podi gulti' to an elderly woman and runs off... and then people talk of parents not being able to understand children, generation gap and crap like that... the children in the movie are shown to be utterly useless and rebels who just misbehave with parents.

# pray what was the climax scene all about ? boy and girl doing some nonsense in the muddy pool in front of the judges and parents... ???? Very impractical and silly.

# Also which pop-singer or pop group in India is really mobbed by a crowd big time after one song ?

Do you all think today Sukbir or Shaan will be mobbed for autographs if they walk on roads despite having given some good pop songs.. ??? It was an exaggeration just like how they show Aishwariya being hyped in Taal after her one or two performances..

# Shankar's boys has no good music, no story... and no message .

waste of some good talent thats all.

I liked the acting of the guys and that girl.. Harini is particularly cute and can really act well. but the movie is cheap, bereft of any good message to the young crowd and lacking any depth. Is the music really by A.R Rahman ? If the music is considered good , then maybe I dont have the taste for Western music with heavy electronic guitars and people wailing... ''please sir''.

I think the music was very average, the other day I heard Tehzeeb album and felt the music was average again. I think AR is not concentrating on his music as before..

Boys music doesnt have that Kandukondein or Alaipaauthey or kadalan touch at all !!!!
