Agree with you on almost all points esp the placement of songs..Yes, if ppl find the length of the movie too much then Saawariya and Dekho Na shud definitely be trimmed but hey if you understood the lyrics in Pal Pal and Yunhi chala, U'd realise that in a way they set context for the sequences that ...follow or are relevant to the overall theme..In case you didnt get the meaning ask a North Indianpal of urs..

Excellent review on a very wel made movie.. Its a pity thatsome so called critics / reviewers have panned the movie for its lack of entertainment value..Why can't they undertsand movies can also be a media for strong social messages ?

Btw, Mac was a bad boy.. Jimbo was...Nastase was... but i wudnt put Goran and Boris in that league.. yeah, they played to the gallery but i wudnt call them bad boys..N much as Borg won so much.. i am sure pp...l still wud pay a fortune to see Mac play than Borg... and that is wot this whole game is all about.. Its showbiz buddy ;-)

Whether ur problem is with Trichy or its airport...This is like saying COOVUM smells and so i dont like Chennai..and then Mumbai had the riots so its a communal place....Is it a little bit of perspective too much to ask mate ? Every picture of Night is to be judged stand alone and what struck me abt the Village was its simplicity..If the audience was expecting a smart trick climax then tis their fault..Night's woven a beautiful love story around a thought provoking simple belief of good vs not-s...o-good... another classic...Two thumbs up from me..

Lemme dispose of the easier ones first.. I have utmost respect for ur judgement and always look fwd to ur music reviews coz i know for one, u wont be biased and second, my knowledgeis kelvi gnanum whereas u seem to know music.. So i really getto understand some nuances when u write...
Now to the ...tuff part.. I dont kinda agree with u on Swades.. I would rank it with ARRs top 10 efforts.. For starters, its got a very earthy feel to it which fits the mood of the movie perfectly.. Its got awesome orchestration...thirdly, the music in this album does not seem to force the lyrics to compromise on any occasion (not sure if i am making my point here coz stimes ARR knows he has a winner in a tine and then the lyricist forces words.. not in this album)
Coming to the indiv songs, i think Yunhi chala is a real joie-de-vivre song.. The interplay between the 3 singers rocks and Kailash is mindblowing..yes.. reminds one of savage garden (i thot i was the only one to notice that :-P)
Yes Yeh Tara is so reminiscent of Mitwa but i can imagine that this song is more situational.. the imaginative choreography and the brilliant mrudangam support is wot stands in my mind whenever i see it...
Dekho Na.. yeah.. a pathetic piece.. Baba...horrible..
Pal pal.. purely situational.. will become popular since it will gel with the movie.. still nice rendition by Madhusree..
Ahista Ahista is a song which shook me up.. not like a violent storm but more a gentle breeze which leaves one shattered...awesome lyrics.. a beautiful song which brings the best outof both Udit and SS...a masterpiece.. a song which will stand the test of time..
Saawariya..okie dokie...
Yeh jo des... worth a hear for the excellent percussion - the tabla is great and thoug ARRs voice kinda fits in the theme, i woudl have preferred Shankar Mahadevan singing here..Btw, did u get the feeling that this song has a distinct 'Thai manne Vankkum' feel to it..

Nice review on an album that is sure to grow on all of us.. at first hear i loved Yuin chala and Yeh tera.. no wonder they keep promting it..btw, Dekho na was composed for that super flop BABA in tamil.. u r bang on when u felt it ddint kinda fit the mood of the film or the album..

Nothing sums this up better than our views on Lata - true she is a great singer but greatness also lies in recognising when to call it quits.. The last 2 years her singing has been ...plain awful (ok, kill me ) and i think the song in no: 5 in ur list is plaily pathetic.. Purely my view.. and ya, my neignours too.. a man of few words he jes asked me to FF this one song :-)
Nice detailed review.. Enjoyed it thoroughly though i dont kinda see eye to eye on all the contents...

I have listened to it only twice since there was lots on telly - golf, cricket and footer.. and though the album is rich on melodies, ther eis not much variety and i wudnt go as far as giving it 5 stars..But then i totally agree on the Sonu thing :-))
