Roja is ARR’s first film.Listening to this song itself is an experience.It is very difficult to express it in words.You feel as if you are in a hill station…The pain that a lover feels when he is not with his lover is very well expressed by Vairamuthu….The lyrics just elevates this song to a different level. If we listen to it carefully, we can see the pain in the voice of SPB.
2. Uyirum Neeye

Singer :Unnikrishnan
Lyrics :Vairamuthu
Unnikrishnan got a National award for this song. This is one of Rahman’s lesser known songs…The lyrics are amazing…I think ARR should have really enjoyed composing a tune for this song.It is very evident when we listen to it…

The tune for this song is really good…A very simple tune decorated by amazing https://lyrics.It seems Vairamuthu was stunned after seeing the visuals from the film and this inspired him to write the songs for the dubbed version.The music conveys the temporary nature of life.that everything around you is changing…Whatever the lover sees, he is reminded of his lover…It is the same feeling you get after listening to Kaadhal Rojave.Vairamuthu seems to be an expert in writing songs that conveys pain and tragedy.
4 .Narumugaiye

Singer:Unni Krishnan, Bombay Jayashree
Lyrics : Vairamuthu
Amazing song in all aspects….Unnikrishnan and Bombay Jayashree had done a great job in this song.This song from Iruvar was taken in black and white…indicating that it is similar to song from the 50s and 60s. Manirathnam had given full freedom to Vairamuthu and the lyrics, though difficult to understand, add to the quality of the song.
The lyrics remind you of “Sangam Age” Tamil Poems….
5. Ennavalae

“Kedharathai Sedharam Panniyirukkar Rahman” ( “ARR has damaged Ketharam in this song”) .This was the comment made by Subbudu, a great Carnatic music critic after this song became a huge hit, the reason being this song doesn’t stick to one raga and has as many as seven ragas.But then, the result is amazing…Unnikrishnan has done a great job in this song .

SPB has done a great job in this song.It is very melodious.Excellent lyrics by Vairamuthu.I am just wondering how ARR got so much inspired to compose this tune.The situation is rather ordinary, that which u can see in any Tamil film: a love song.
