Actually it was a typo. I meant to say Oneness with God is not just a Hindu concept. I missed out on the word. Thanks dude for correcting it. As for the translations, it is virtually impossible to translate things from Tamil to English. Tamil has so many deep and rich words that translating it ...would mean spoiling the significance. For example, I am still searching for an apropriate translation for Thiruvilayadal's song verse 'Edhilum iyangum iyakkam nanae'Read More

I am an ardent fan of Kamal ... and what u've written bears a great testimony to a great person .... Mahanadhi for me is the best Tamil movie produced ..for its boldness, for the impact and for the performances ... but as always good films like those dont recieve patronage ... Can u imagine 'Jism' o...r 'New' had 5 times more collection than a 'Anbae Sivam' or 'Mahanadhi'?? Thats the fate of Indian cinema. I feel we r nearing the end of Kamal's magic era and I feel he is getting a little stale ... no blamming but mere observation ... age catches u faster than u think .....Read More

Havent got a chance to watch the movie ..but ur review is so crisp and neat that it speaks volumes of the movie u've watched ... but honestly put .. imitation is the best form of flattery ... having watched and enjoyed all 3 parts of God father .. i can tell u that every indian movie made has its in...spiration somewhere or the other in God father ... nayakan and others may have this influenece more but the very concept of a calm person having a violent past and respected by others, not just feared, is a concept introduced by God Father and no immitation can match that ingenuity.Read More

Ohh my God .. i cant imagine the amount of research that must have gone into compiling this article .... truly inspiring ... One prob I have is I have not listned to old hindi songs that much .. still I guess I can search songs in the raags u've mentioned ... BTW did u know that composer Vidhyasagar... is an expponent of raag Durbari kaanra? .. he has composed about 80 movies and almost every movie has a great number in that raga .. try listening to 'Malarae' song from Tamil movie 'Karna', 'Orae manam orae gunam' from Tamil movie villan ... these are some vintage numbers in the raag.Read More

Rohit: I would certainly vouch that language is no barrier in music and expecially this album. Though a knowledge of the poetry will certainly enhance the effect, IR's music will give you the feel of poetry. Thanks a lot for the comments. jayanth: Thanks a ton for the comments dude. Do listen to ...it. Worth every penny. Lyla: Thanks for the comments. Karthik: So glad to see ur comments here. Sivapuranam is a great piece of litrature and u r blessed to have known it.Read More

I wanted to say so much about every note in the album but I neither have the knowledge nor the words to express it. This review of mine may be faulty in English or content or presentation but I never thought of this as a review in the first place. This is my feelings and yes; they are scrambled... and incorrigible. But as I said earlier Things which go straight into your soul don't find expression through the body.Read More

.. I danced and rejoiced Muthu Natramam A distinct deviation from the earlier numbers has a brisk folk flavor to it. Almost does not seem like a symphony piece. This song is a ballad sung by various singers. I personally did not consider this song in the same class as the earlier numbers but th...at again does not outweigh the class or the richness of the music. IR unfortunately sets such lofting standards early in the album that this song seems ordinary. Somehow you get a feel of backwaters of Kerla more than Lord Shiva. However IR shows some brilliant notes of Raga Ghambeer Naatai. .. And I rested in God Puttrilla vaazh Aravum This song which has IR wondering if this is what symphony is all about and later fitting a Thiruvaasagam piece into it is a good example of that way IR works. IR starts off in the scale of raag maandu and then plays a violin piece. The great thing to note here is how much importance he gives to the words exactly into the tune. Now in a time when even very good MDs like ARR stretch words 'Mudhalvanae vanae vanae vanae' completely killing the meaning of the words, here is a man who looks at perfection in not just notes but also in words. The way he has shown that is a lesson to anyone aspiring to be MD and also a lesson on appreciation of music as an art form. This song is so pleasing that it seamlessly blends classical Indian music into a western orchestra.Read More

... and God spoke to me .... Pooerukonum purantharanum A brisk way to start a conversation and a pleasant one at that to. Ohh my God that violin and not to mention Bhavathaarini's sweet voice. Splendid. Make you smile in bliss. The divine voice of IR catches up. What a father what a daughter. No...te carefully how the violins catch up in the first IR line 'naanaar en ullamaar' and then how the violins give a flowing swinging bow in the lines 'Oonar udaithaliayil' absolutely stunning vintage IR and to end that line with a cling of a triangle is sheer twinkling class. The flute/strings combining to change the chord before the lines 'Vaitha nidhi' is a class act of changing chord without affecting the flow of a songs. Although this song bears good resemblance with 'Sempoovae' from Siraichaalai/kalapani, it is still a refreshing piece of orchestra and a tilting tune. ....I spoke to him, I pleaded UmbarKatkarasay What catches you in this slow conversation or rather plead with God is the rendering by IR. The portion where he sings ' Ammayae appa', meaning Ohh mother and father is so soulful. Filled with a lot of choir and symphony pieces, this song enhances the effect of the verses.Read More

Thats how I would like to term your review ... a good understanding of how IR has developed is quite evident ... I agree that the marketing giick by naming it as a symphony is not suitable .. however IR has always corrected it in every interview to be an oratario .. very good effort...
