The Film starts with a note by Ram Gopal Verma (RGV) that he is one among the directors who was inspired by GODFATHER and this movie is a tribute to it. (I donno whether RGV added this after many people commented that this is a remake of Godfather)

I initially thought, what excitement this movie (with an already known storyline) would trigger in me, but as the movie progressed I saw myself and other audiences sitting in the corner of their seats.

Screenplay scores the maximum and stays above all as far as this movie is concerned. For those who have seen many of RGVs underworld don movies don’t think that this is yet another violent movie .This movie stands different with lesser violence and lesser dialogues. RGV has maintained the momentum throughout the movie. I must mention here the last half an hour of the movie as the best part of the movie where Abhishek takes revenge on those who would attempt to murder ‘Sarkar’.

RGV has given a lot of importance for characterization and has done perfectly. Be it Vishnu (Kay Kay), Amitabh’s eldest son or Pooja (Katrina kaif), Abhishek’s lover or the villains (particularly SilverMani ) they have been dealt carefully and wonderfully. Neither the characters nor the scenes were artificial anytime of the movie.

Amitabh, as usual is at his best. No one else in bollywood would have matched this role with perfection except this man. Next is Abhishek, whose performance is a surprise package to me. I haven’t seen such a matured performance from this actor so far. Though he doesn’t have much scope in the first half he was over-the-top in the second.

The best thing about this movie is that there is no separate comedy line or song in between which would have lowered the pace for such a storyline.

Few other things that have to be appreciated are Background score by Amar Mohile, dialogues (Manish) and Cinematography (Amit).Everyone has plugged into their roles properly.

We can proudly tell Mr. Francis Ford Cuppola that this is the second best (next to NAYAGAN by Maniratnam starring Kamal) version of his ''Godfather'' (regionally) ever made.

Cheers,

Nithya
