It was one of those fresh sunday mornings and pleasent sun of 09:30 AM was making one and all energetic.
I had been heading towards what I was thinking for a while.Being to Dorabjee & Sons and enjoying their Biryanis ! And being a regular MS'ian, I had noticed rare thing about this place.100% members' recommendation.
Since, I stay quite nearby to Pune camp, I wasn't required to have buffer time for reaching this place.So, I zipped off on my ikon, enjoying the drive.It was playing "Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein" on radio city and before the next song could play.
I was in basement of SGS mall, parking my car. I must mention you rather warn you, if you are travelling by four wheeler, please park in secured parking area like SGS mall and then take a walk to Dorabjee.Because you do not have parking on this very narrow one way lane.Eventually you will have to park somewhere else.
This restaurant was established in 1878 ! Yes 1878 and not 1978.This heritage restaurant has great legacy of serving authentic parsi food.Its located off MG Road in sarbatwala chowk.
Menu: Menu is very short that fits onto single paper with few items of Biryani and stuff repeating each for chicken and Mutton with few items available on Sundays.
Ambience: Don't visit this place if you crave for ambience.
Service: Simple and Fast. No frills.
Food: Yummy ! Simply superb.
Price: Average. A meal for two will cost approx. Rs.300/-
I had a senior citizen sitting in front of me, enjoying his biryani. I asked him, how long have you been patronizing this place ? More than I remember, he said.
Have you noticed any changes in this restaurant then ? I asked.Nothing much, except for some faces change once in few years and everything else remains same.Exactly the same, since I first tasted to this time. Its same delicious.
I thanked the elderly gentleman.I could see a smile on his face.I said, I know why you smile, because you are the thinking that I will come here again and again.You are quite right he said.And to guess that you need no brains, most of them do keep visiting this place.
Right ! said I.As I was walking out of restaurant, I was wondering how do they maintain this year after year ? rather generation after generation ? By the time I was out, they had one more regular customer in their kitty !
