pl try to come out of myth that 15000 km service period is due to quality of vehicle..actually it is quality of engine oil they put in which comes at a price. If you put the same oil in Maruti (say swift) , you can run it 15000kms. The fact somebody has already mentioned on mouthshut that VW avoi...d facing customers as they are just manufacturer and not the service people as Japanese are. Comparing to Maruti’s service cost..try matching up Maruti’s first 6 services with VWs 3 services (approx 45000 kms ) and then see the difference . It would atleast be 4 times than Marutis..(and that is only if you lucky not to have your clutch plates or brake leather etc changed). You can just beat Marutis in exterior paint qaulity and poor plastic but no where else.. NIce review Yogesh..I was knowing many unsatisfied customers because of so many reasons but I Iliked some of your points i.e. unconventional nut-bolt tyre fixing arrangment, really shocking (perhaps they are not used to puncrued/damaged tyres). Adding to this is different size of spare wheel which i...s a hard joke on the face of Indian Explorers. Suppose you get your FRONT wheel punctured and now you drive your car some 500 kms whole night with 2 different sizes of tyre... thrilling experience that would be..(actualy in Europe many countries are not longer than 400km so these cars can be reliable for short distances only). The other 2 points i.e. 15000 km service is due to Engine Oil life (they use expensive oil) and nothing related to car qaulity. You may put same engine oil in Maruti 800 and can enjoy troublefree 15000 kms.So you are right in a way saying that they avoid facing customer. There may be many other issues and not only the engine always. Japanese are best service masters. AND reverse gear light..you can improve visibility by turning on the fog light (I hope u have the one) so you can see better with one white and other bright red light --Indian Jugaad). Anyway what I feel about this car is that it just has good exteriors and some driving fun but lot of other expanses and compromises which spoil your driving fun at the end of the day or till you visit VW service station..Happy Motoring Read More

Guys, I am using SX4 Zxi for 20 months now..follow the following points and let me know the efficiency (improves further after 4000 kms or so approx.) 1. Most imporatantly, push the accelerator as softly as you can in each and every gear. 2. Add System-G or use extra-premium always. 3. S...hift gears from 1 to 5 at 0-10-20-30-40 kmph respectively. 4. Shift to nuetral predictably when you feel there is no need to accelerate. 5. Keep the tyre pressure 31 psi. Read More

Hello Subramaniam...I am using SX4 ZXi for 20 months now..This car is peppier but u need to rev it up in lower gears..u can not expect this car to pick up in 4th,5th gear while at 40kmph..For racing with small (specially diesel) cars use 2nd gear and then3rd and 4th only above 120kmph otherwise they... may beat you. For normal driving you have to shift to 5th as soon as u touch 40. Small cars need lesser space and are easily manouverable in cities, it does not mean they are peppier. I have an 800 (5 speed) 1,15,000kms on speedo and it beats almost any big car (depending on driver of big car) in city, it touches 117 in 3rd gear. But Sx4 I think you never tested..I dared sometimes..and I am satisfied with its performance and specially the control it has got. For mileage it would improve after 3000-4000 kms, do not worry and you would be getting 11-12 in city. My car gives 12 in city AC on (Chandigarh) and mixing it with highways it returned me 14plus always. Only on highways it gives 16-17 kmpl depening upon how you press its accelerator.Read More

NIce Review, infact I am driving Zxi version for last 18 months and what I am impressed about SX4 is its stability, control and suspension. It’s suspension can handle almost every pothole on road at good speed. Braking is awesome too. In my case efficiency has been between 14-15 km/ltr with some 250... km on highways & 350 km in Chandigarh city withour AC ,with AC it is 13-14 km/ltr (mixed conditions). it generally consumes 40-42 ltr for approx 600 km. I always use ExtraPremium. I never tried its top speed but as per OverDrive Sep 2009 , it is some 179.97 km/h. However I raced it in 2nd/3rd gear and it touched 140km/h in 3rd gear itself. I am not willing to test its top speed.Read More

hello..deepsea, It is all about what you feel, driving the car. If you love fun-driving go for SX4, if you need slightly better quality but feel worried on Indian Roads while driving , you may go for for City. Mileage and performance are almost same. Maintenance is easier with SX4.

Guys, I am having SX4 ZXi, 12000 kms. I would talk about its mileage in Chandigarh city. It is 13kmpl with Extra Premium fuel. Mixing local and suburban roads it is giving 15.4 kmpl. On highways it gives between 16 to 17 with AC and without AC it gives 17.5 kmpl. So drive better to get more milea...ge. SX4 is the great car for Indian Roads.Read More

Hello PKK123 , If u took it to Shimla , u must have seen many sx4 there. U need to be used to it while taking turn. On tunrs, look through screen, slit and windowpane at faster rate, to ensure safety.

Dear Ravi, It depends from city to city and driving conditions. from worst to best in city driving the range may vary from 10-13km/ltr with ac on. And on Highways 15-17 kms with ac on. without ac following 5 tips mentioned above it may touch 13.5 in city and 18 on highway. You can compare its eff...iciency with Swift Petrol minus 0.5 km at the worst.Read More

Hello Dawood, In your review, You mentioned you have a CRV also but you like the Diesel Laura. Yes, Laura is safer than CRV. But pl do not compare SX4 (Zxi) with Laura ; the way you can not compare Laura with Mercedes. People (Good Drivers) who drove SX4 Zxi , are impressed with its control.

1. No body is sure about the Indian Road Conditions, anyway this car saved you. 2. Be used to the pillars position and accordingly improve your visibility by watching out through the side pane, the slit pane and not only through the front screen, while taking a sharp turn. This way you can avoid su...ch accidents. 3. Brakes in my car (SX4-Zxi) are damn good. They work best when the tyre pressure is 31 psi. So pl ensure you have right pressure i.e. 31psi for ABS/EBD to work properly. I suggest to buy your own gauge to measure pressure. 4. Finally, this car kept you safe. Cars may come and go but life is most important.Read More

Do not get hurt as this Driver never tasted the other Indian cars falling in the segment of Maruti Suzuki SX4. Had he tested the other indian ca...rs he would have given 4 or 5 out of 20. Hello Sunny, I personally assure you nothing would happen of that sort unless you take this vehicle to Himalayan Car Rally 10 times or more. Anyway no other car of this segment can complete that rally. Engine and gearbox are so fantastic, Liana car (Australia) is having the same engine & gearbox, p...eople have done more than 3 lacs kms and engine is as young as ever. Never get bothered. Enjoy it to the full and let the people envy. Run this engine and gearbox atleast 3 Lac kms and then start thinking of its life which would be on and on. Read More

Thanks for the suggestion. I have updated the main review. How many kms, has your car done?? If it is below 3K then you can expect linear efficiency improvement till the time it does 6-7K. Yes if you are expecting sort of 11-12kmpl on electronic city road, I feel it is OK but on highway expect atl...east 16kmpl from SX4. And I know you are soon going to acheive it.Read More

Hello Sathya! Which city you are driving in and at what times, If you are in BLR (guessing), you are lucky that you are getting 10.5 in city. I forgot to mention fuel type, I have been using Extra premium always and done some 1.2 lacs kms with this fuel on my other car. Earlier I used to add Syste...m-G (additive) always. System-G is also a very good option. And I hope your car would have done 3-4K kms by now. It would open up after 5-6K kms and efficiency would improve. For first 2-3K kms I was getting sort of 12-14 kmpl. Do not expect power at 1500rpm , it is just 52km/h speed in 5th gear. Try following very important 5 steps and let me know: 1. Most imporatantly, push the accelerator as softly as you can in each and every gear. 2. Add System-G or use extra-premium always. 3. Shift gears from 1 to 5 at 0-10-20-30-40 kmph respectively. 4. Shift to nuetral when you feel now you need not to accelerate. 5. Keep the tyre pressure 33 psi. Please note these tips are not for power driving but for efficiency only. As far as my driving is concerned I got 15.74 kmpl in my last tank full but A/c was not on for more than 100 kms. It may drop to 15 kmpl in scorching summers but not below that.Read More
