Rule the Road . Review on Maruti Suzuki SX4

Friends! I am owning and driving SX4 Zxi for almost 1 year. It gives me 16 km/ltr to 17 km/ltr on normal highways and 13-14 in Chandigarh city. And when I see the overall average City plus Sub-urban, it always gives me 15 km/ltr plus.

And in scorching summers it gives 13 km/ltr in City and 16 km/ltr on sub-urban roads. This is fantastic mileage for 1.6 ltr and 1200 kgs.Know this car better for maximum efficiency:Try following very important 5 steps and let me know:

1. Most imporatantly, push the accelerator as softly as you can in each and every gear.

   
   




2. Add System-G or use extra-premium always.

   
   




3. Shift gears from 1 to 5 at 0-10-20-30-40 kmph respectively.

   
   




4. Shift to nuetral when you feel now you need not to accelerate.

   
   




5. Keep the tyre pressure 33 psi.

   
   

Please note these tips are not for power driving but for efficiency only.As far as my driving is concerned I got 15.74 kmpl in my last tank full but A/c was not on for more than 100 kms. It may drop to 15 kmpl in scorching summers but not below that..**While in MAN's mood :

*If you are in a man's mood just rev it up right from Gear 1 and see how this beast leaps.

1. When you rev it up in 2nd and 3rd gear it really takes off and moreover you feel quite safe, comfortable & well in control while testing this vehicle to its capabilities.

   
   




2. Never expect this vehicle to pick-up from 45 kms in 4th or 5th gear ; Use 3rd instead or rather 2nd when you are competing against high torque deisel engine and it will never let you down. This is what the gears meant for.

   
   

Brakes & Comfort : (Trye pressure 31 psi - use your own gauge to measure)

1. Keep the tyre pressure 31psi for better Braking (ABS/EBD work well at 31 psi).

   
   




2. 33psi only for efficiency. I suggest to use your own gauge for measuring pressure otherwise you are not sure about the actual pressure in tyres. Also check the prsssure when tyres are cold i.e. in the morning (or when the car has been standing still for 4-5 hours atleast.)

   
   

For the safety sake of SX4 Drivers :

1. Be used to the pillars position and accordingly improve your visibility by watching out through the side pane, the slit pane and not only through the front screen, while taking a sharp turn. This way you can avoid such accidents.

   
   




2. You need to install sensors for reversing this beast better.

   
   

Verdict:

This is a driver's car who enjoys acceleration and off-road adventures.Many cars can not go places where this beast strolls with ease.
