Hi Upender, Would like to bring to your notice that engine problems can very well be the by-product of poor driving, adulterated fuel, careless maintenance etc.; My 1.4 ZXi Diesel is over 3 years old and has run approx. 47,500 kms. on Delhi roads, which are perpetually under repair.....but withou...t any engine problems. The only maintenance I conduct is the mandatory service after every 10000 Kms....read out my reviews on the Ford vehicles (Ikon-Petrol & Fiesta-Diesel). This vehicle is used for a lot of off-roading drives too. As far as cost of spare parts are concerned....as rightfully pointed out in another comment, except Hyundai and Maruti....all are expensive......ask any poor Chevy or Opel owner..... BTW, what is exactly wrong with the engine that is asking for these expensive repairs?? Cheers SMRead More

Still Fida over the Deisel Fiesta…. In 2006, when I had penned down my review on the Diesel Fiesta, I was in awe of the fact that a Diesel vehicle could be so refined and smooth, as against my initial expectations. I was sure something would happen…..some glitch…..that would indicate ...Read more

Good humor in there!! Well, in Delhi driving scratchless & dentless cars is strictly forbidden. SM

Hello Mr. Arunjit, Sorry to know about the problems being faced by you. However, seems to be a freak case of electonic controls malfunction. However, this could be life threatening indeed. I work in South Delhi and live in West Delhi. So, I have experienced both dealers (South City & Harpreet) in... terms of service for my Ford Vehicles (Fiesta and Ikon respectively). Each is worse than the other till you are a soft customer. Most service center staff will not be adept at resolving these EC problems though. This is where the Company needs to step in to repair your car. Ford India must step in to replace the faulty electronic controls....immediately...as rightly pointed by another member...before the warranty expires. However, the fuel efficiency still is questionable. My Diesel ZXi Fiesta from South City Motors gives me 19-22 kmpl. My colleague's Petrol SXi from the same dealership gives him an average of nearly 14-15 kmpl. Both cars were purchased in April, 2006 like yours. An average of 8-9 is really bad. All the best with your repairs. Keep posting your experience on MS for others to benefit. Good Luck SM Read More

Hi Shanti, Cool Review on the Saree. I simply love sarees. There is another aspect to this one...It compliments the Indian figure and adds inches to one's height if worn the right way with heels. Back in B Schools, we were taught the art of correctly draping the saree in a business environment.... I would love to wear them more often to work. However, trousers and business suits being the more practical option win the competition currently. Also, driving and climbing stairs become more cumbersome in sarees. Regards SM Read More

Hello Ritesh, I have tried all the Ford Dealers in Delhi after Harpreet Ford led me on a similar wild goose chase a couple of times. The best one so far is South City Ford on Mathura Road. I find it convenient since it is a stone's throw from my workplace and they do not mind servicing your... car under your supervision. The person telling you to maintain 25 l of petrol in your vehicle for the fuel gauge to function properly must be completely out of his mind. One little tip for Ford cars : Try the local mechanics at Khan Market and Palika Bhawan (opp. Hyatt Regency). SMRead More

I drive an Ikon 1.6 ZXi (Petrol) and a Fiesta 1.4 ZXi (Diesel) on alternate days (daily driving distance of approx. 70 KMs.). I must say that the steering is light in both the cases. Zens & Esteems feel like old age vehicles in comparison. Perhaps some adjustment to the steering is required. ...Santro and Ikon are in different brackets completely....just cannot compare. With due respects to the Santro. SMRead More

Hi Shyam, Good you managed to single out a good eating joint to review. For an officially declared 'foodie' like me, it takes just a little description of something delicious to set my imagination rolling. The smell of freshly baked bread reminded me of an Italian joint in Shelton (CT), I... visited a few weeks ago, where I actually witnessed the miracle of bread being baked in front of my own eyes. It tasted Yummmmm!! Cool review!! SM Read More

Hi! Friend, seems the dealer (Shakti Ford) is doing a pretty bad job of looking after Ford vehicles in your area. Maintenance on your Fusion looks bad enough. However, Ikon giving 4 kmpl is questionable. I s'pose only the body might be that of an Ikon. All other stuff might have been borrowed... from some local mechanic. Another Q I have is related to the handling : New Generation vehicles have to be looked after delicately. A lot of controls are microprocessor based. Any mishandling can result in a chain reaction of problems. Good luck with the repairs. SM Read More
