The Hindi film, ‘Shudh Desi Romance’ starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra, Vaani Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor is a light-hearted romantic comedy which was released this year on September, 6th. The film is directed by Maneesh Sharma and has been produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Banners. The film’s writer is Jaideep Sahni and its music director is Sachin-Jigar. The film has been primarily shot in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The film’s choreography is by Ganesh Acharya.

The film plot revolves around today’s generation’s attitude towards love and commitment. The fear of arranged marriage and its related complications which make boys and girls avoid it and get into live-in relationships, is the main highlight of the film.

Raghu Ram(Sushant Singh Rajput) is a tourist guide who often joins Goyal(Rishi Kapoor), as a rental baraati. Goyal is a wedding planner. Raghu suffers from pre-marital jitters. Enroute to his wedding venue, Raghu meets Gayatri(Parineeti Chopra), who is an independent, open-minded, bold girl, living life on her own terms. Confused Raghu, impressed by Gayatri’s freedom runs away from his marriage. A few days later, Raghu and Gayatri meet up and enter into a live-in-relationship. A typical neighbour of Gayatri influences Raghu against Gayatri yet the two agree to get married. On the day of their wedding, Gayatri runs away shying from commitment leaving Raghu confused.

Away from Gayatri, Raghu bumps into Tara(Vaani Kapoor), the girl whom he was to tie a knot with, an Air Hostess now. She is rude to Raghu due to a revengeful attitude first but later the two fall for each other that they are ready to be married. On a wedding, Raghu again meets Gayatri and the two run away confessing their love for one another. Tara sees this and goes away. Goyal makes Raghu and Gayatri realize that they love one another and should get married. On the night of their wedding both run away and reach Gayatri’s home. They confess that they love each other but cannot get married. They kiss one another and enter the house.

The movie depicts the changing social beliefs of the younger generation. They do not believe in marriage and would prefer live-in-relationships as long as it works. The film’s title song is hummable and overall the film is practical and sweet. It is a fun film and must be watched by the youth.
