In ancient Sanskrit studies the word ‘Brahma astra’ means a weapon created by Lord Brahma. In Hinduism, Lord Brahma is the Creator of the Universe and the being that live on it. He is first among the Trinity(Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Mahesh) and the most elderly with many heads.

In Hindu Sanatan Dharma, Brahma astra was the deadliest weapon achieved by a person after a lot of meditation. The weapon is used to uphold Dharma(Religion) and Satya(Truth) and whoever uses it especially during wars, destroys the person who is also a part of Lord Brahma, i.e. complete annihilation. The weapon can be used only once in a day when extremely necessary. The weapon must be used for the right reasons by the user who has to call it by invocation via a medium. Lord Brahma also created a weapon to stop it, which was called Brahmadanda, a stick.

Lord Brahma also created a weapon stranger than the Brahmaastra. This was called ‘Brahmashira’. It was not supposed to be used during wars and could only be summoned by Arjun and Ashwatthama. It would make a land barren and humans infertile if it fell on them. There would be less rainfall, drought and cracks on the lands where it fell. Of all the weapons used by Hindu Gods, namely, Chakras, Trishul, Brahmastra is the most powerful.
