The current state of Bangalore Bangalore
Electricity: For the silicon valley of Asia, one would expect B’lore to have 24/7 power. Well, that's far from the truth. B’lore suffers a good 2-4 hour powercut everyday in the summer season. Over to a few good things that still exist, B’lore has some very interesting restaurants dishing out... world cuisines and at the same time has some old local gems like Vidyarthi Bhavan, Andhra Restaurants, and those yummy hole-in-the-wall Military Hotels. Excellent weather by tropical standards, beautiful Jacaranda trees and a decent airport. Bottom line is even by Asian standards, B’lore has a long way to go. Read More
KRV: This group has forgotten the real concept of their existence. I understand the frustrations of the local populace. It's not a nice thing to happen when your hometown no longer speaks your language and you are made to feel an outsider just like everybody else. I am for every school in Karnata...ka having to teach Kannada and Hindi compulsorily along with English, no matter what medium school it is. It's really Ok to have sign boards in Kannada as well. But the KRV has turned into a violent lot. They have started taking the law into their own hands. They indulge in moral policing, and at the same time molest the women they try to cops. Many of them are also apprehended by the cops for other crimes like burglaries.Read More
Crime: In spite of all the ridiculous bans and deadlines imposed by the cops, B’lore is by no means a safe city. Murders, chain snatching, mugging, eve-teasing, kidnapping, burglaries and rape happen very very frequently. A new twist is B’lore's involvement with terrorism. Every 3rd terrorist see...ms to have some roots with B’lore. This is what happens when the cops chicken out and bust pubs and nightclubs where they can be assured that the crowd is harmless, cooperative and scared. This ensures that the gullible public thinks that the cops are actually doing workRead More
New Airport: Don't want to seem to pessimistic. I don’t think Blore needs a Changi, a Charles De Gaulle or a JFK. But the new airport is small even for B’lore. The facilities are much better than the old one and probably most airports in India, but the truth is that it's small even for today. Though... most new and big airports are located at a similar distance form the city, they at least have dedicated toll expressways to get there. Many even have an MRT that takes you straight to the airport. Another 10 years for something like that to materialize.Read More

Great Monsoon Package
(Updated Jul 29, 2005 06:08 PM)
This is an off-season review of the Majorda Beach Resort. As soon as our company sanctioned the trip budget for our team, we unanimously decided that it had to be Goa. Unfortunately, though it was the peak of the off-season, all the 5-star resorts were booked on that particular weekend. We th...Read more

Whatzz up (with) Bangalooore??--an ode Bangalore Development Authority
Why should the buses in Bangalore have signs in Tamil???? I've never seen buses in Tamil Nadu with Kannada on it? By the way, if you want cheap grapes, you can get them in Banaswadi for 10 bucks a kg!! Economy has improved because of IT. Heard of the trickle effect? MOre money means more spending... power. Demand for commodities goes up. That means everybody from farmers, to maid servants stand to benefite. What about the creation of so many other jobs like cab drivers, cooks who support the IT industry?Read More

(Updated Jul 21, 2005 03:56 AM)
Everybody who's been to Hampi has always said that it's a great place. I'm yet to find a single person who thinks otherwise. I've always tried to understand what exactly is this hype about Hampi? There are ruins all over India, as a matter-of-fact, there are ruins all over the world...but what i...Read more

Coorg in Monsoon excellent Coorg
Hi, I have to agree with you-Coorg is a great place to be especially in the monsoons. Visited Coorg 2 years back in the monsoons. Stayed at the Capitol Village. The whole place was perpetually covered with mist and was without the usual touristy population. Did a repeat last month & made it a ...point to go there in the rains. Stayed at Irpu falls this time. Was just as good as my last trip! Anyways....until next time! StanRead More

BANG BANG BANGALORE AIRPORT!!!! Bengaluru International Airport - Bangalore
B'lore's airport is quite small for the volume it handles. But it's still pretty decent & presentable. Our aim was to get out of Bangalore for the weekend. We decided on Yercaud because: · It’s supposed to be about a 4 hour drive from Bangalore · There’s the Killiyur falls to chill out in. · Yercaud is about 4500 Ft above sea level = cool weather. · It&...Read more

No Bangs about it!!! Bangalore
Your review was great! I wonder why so many people try comparing B'lore with NY etc? B'lore is great in its own way. There are things that piss me off in blore-but hell, which city does not have its own share of woes? & in my humble opinion, b'lore is the easiest place to settle in if u'r a ...new comer. I have nothing against other cities-it just gets irritating when an out-of-towner comes down and harps about everything as though they've been brought up in a penthouse in manhattan. As Preran and rjois said, Bangaloreans need a little more civic pride in them-thats all. Keep up the good work!Read More
