I would like to know why it is not fair to expect resturants and entertainment centers? Comparing their availability definitely indicate the livability in a city. A city is not only for the people who live in it but also for the people who come from all over the world to live in it. If that fact isn...t true then it proves that the people of Chennai are unwelcoming of other people, which would mean you need not even try and defend any critisisms. If what I said is true then clearly the city does not have most facilities which make people live in comfort. I agree with you that facts are what make a review. When a product is reviewed you are expressing your opinions based on Facts and not making things up. And all I have stated are FACTS in my review. Not one point is a figment of imagination. All of them have been my personal experiences in Chennai. Read More

Let me start by saying what I have stated in my review were from my real expirences. If you read carefully you will realize I have given credit where it is due. If you believe we should not be comparing cities, unfortunately you are living like the ostrich with its head in the sand thinking its o...ut of danger. I am surprised to note that in your outburst to my fairly critical review of the city, you have been unable to refute any of my points and instead chose to generalize it to make it look acceptable. It clearly goes on to prove the major con I have stated, that of the people just wanting to get by with what they have and accepting a low quality of life. Critisims like this were levelled at Bangalore once and it rose up with citizen and corporate initiatives to become the livable place it is now. The people did not choose to make the defects acceptable but instead, chose to get rid of it. Secondly, I appreciate that monuments and historic sites are things any Indian will be proud of, But as I stated very early in my review, The review is of a person living in Chennai and not those of a backpacker camping in temples and beaches. BTW I hear from trusted colleagues that the beaches in Chennai are an open air toilet. I am sure you will not want to compare it with something and give it an air of acceptbility. Right minded people will spread the perception around and do something about it. Heres the thing, I do not expect the people of Chennai to fix the weather, instead they should work on fixing what they can. Meanwhile I do not wish to comment on your opinions of the so called 'Cons' in Bangalore because I believe you have the right to your opinion. Suffice to say that the progressive Bangalore believes in a capitalistic society where the deficiencies are overcome in right haste and not hidden behind a viel of acceptability. Read More

I moved to Chennai for the first time from Bangalore to take up a new job. So this would not be a new traveller's review but more of a new resident's review. Major Con: I find the quality of life to be very bad. People in general are very unsophisticated and just want to get by with life. ...Read more
