Large size LCDs are costlier than comparable Plasmas. Data compared here are on Company’s prices and not on promotional prices by various shopping malls and shopping sites. That would be better commercial comparison.

Bajaj Instant Water Heater, Mark-II. In one of the bathroom, we always had a complain of defective Geyser. Mechanic-1 charged for coil. Later, 2nd for cable. This time I was watchful. Instead of checking its power supply - he opened the Water Heater completely. Since I was there he said coil is... OK (God bless him), let me check the cable. He charged me for the cable and 200/- plus for opening, fitting & installation of the same. How helpless we are, in the hands of mechanics ? Train most of DIY to the Generation-Next - this is equally important as any hobby or watching TV. If power supply is the problem then why to open the instrument ? Start in stages. I think BPL have sold the manufacturing plant and their service-support-chain is broken. Now the mechanics (unofficial) are playing with this trick of panel, motor & gear-box (next he will tell you this) etc. Will charge hefty in the name of not-available in the market etc. Will not be responsib...le also (i.e. no guarantee after repairing), if this does not work even after 2 days. The shop referred this guy will play good role of yes-man later. This is called nexus. Here you are a customer, literate, don’t know the terminology, functioning, repairing procedures and also do not try to understand that. Because you are a Big Saheb and don’t have the time to supervise this. You have left a drain without a cap. So earn & drain is the easier method. This is the cost of convenience. What about alternate to CFL ? It is Electronic Choke for Tubelight. Costs Local made 65/- and branded 120/- or so. Both types having one year replacement warranty. Electronic solution to save power might be available for Fridge, TV, Geyser, Iron etc. Can anybody share on this please. Also nee...d info on Solar solution installable on Windows/External walls. Windmill is for hills, farms and surrounding, ruled out for domestic purposes.
