Hi,

Power (Electricity) is the prime force for the development of a country. Sufficient Power supply leads uninterrupted industrial production, efficient working, no halt in works, reduction in night accidents, proper manpower utilization, improved education standard, better and fast transportation, effective communication etc.

Invention of electricity and electric bulb was the revolution in the human history. Analyst says, '' If a country has sufficient Power supply, its GDP improve 2-2.5% (Considering other things constant)''

Power sector development is a prime focus on Infrastructure development. Without Power, no any infrastructure projects can run properly. We require power to develop roads, buildings, IT parks and new industries

My motive of above-mentioned impacts is - Why our GDP is fluctuating in between 6-9%, although abundant natural resources available in our country?

Nowadays without electricity, we can't assume our life fulfilled. Neither our computer can run nor industrial automation is possible.

Now coming to the point- Power sector of India and Power ministry performance and policies. Everyone knows in India that infrastructure is the biggest bottleneck for the development and growth of GDP. In this hot season, thousands of us are enjoying uninterrupted electric supply and cool air in our offices. But it is possible only in Metros and State's capital (But not all capitals). What happen to the thousands of small cities, towns and Lakhs of villages?

Power shortage is not a new issue. During summers, normally 10-12 hrs power cut in small Towns, 2-4 hrs in big cities and villagers see light in 2-3 days in a week (70% Indians are in Villages). So why Government announced the rural electrification scheme if they don't have enough supply for existing load points. Increasing transmission lines and electric lines network is not a solution of availability of power to the Indians. Supply is also necessary otherwise what is the use of Poles and Lines.

According to the strategist, there are only two solutions to overcome from the Power shortage.

1- Increase the Generating capacity

2- Reduce the consumption of electricity without interrupting services

At present, India has 1,10,000 MW installed capacity. It is a good figure compared to installed capacity in 1947 (Freedom year). If we consider first point, Government needs 20,000 Cr. Rs. to installed per 5000 MW generating capacity. So it is a big investment.

I like the second solution. If we change Bulbs from CFLs in our home, we can save electricity. One CFL tube consumes one fourth of electricity compared to Bulb. If every home in our country changes one Bulb by one CFL, we can save 5000 MW electricity and it can be utilize in other places.

CFL cost more. Generally a Bulb cost 10-12 Rs. And a CFL 100-120 Rs. So it is not possible that every home in our country can afford it. But here, Government has to consider the things. If Govt. installed 5000 MW generating unit, it has to invest 20,000. And in other way if it provide one CFL to every home of 10 Rs. Cost, it can save 5000 MW electricity in lower cost (environmental cost, raw material cost not excluded to set a unit).

Government is not considering the basic things for villagers and other public. In this hot season, it is concentrated on reservation issue (A vote bank policy). Most of the OBC, ST, SC are in villages. So why Govt. not making policy to provide them basic facilities? Without electricity how can a backward and low income group student study? Kerosene oil prices are so high. Costs of the farming grow up by the use of Diesel because of insufficient electricity supply.

Also Govt. has to ensure private companies participation in Power sector and proper tarrif, billing etc.

So our well educated Politicians, Ministers, Prime ministers have to take care of innocent villagers and taxpayer Janta. They have to sit in roundtable and make the policies, which improve the living standard, per capita income and GDP of country. And please stop making discrimination and castism.

One most important thing, some of small-scale industries using unauthorized electricity without paying anything. Recently BSES captured some from Delhi. This is our fault to fail mechanism. Many of our countrymen using electricity without paying anything. Electricity Deptt. Employees using electricity more than required because they don't have to pay anything. Sudhar jao Bhai.

Because of these people, electricity deptt. had Sended increased bill to others who are regular electricity bill payers in Delhi?

This is another wrong step by Delhi electricity board or BSES. They are annoying people. This policy will lead some more non-payers due to frustration.

At last, Use CFL if you can afford and save electricity for our countrymen.
