well.. i personally loved all the MD ads.. except this one.. but in the mysore and bangalore campuses atleast.. MD has the highest recall.. everyone there uses the MD punchlines one time or the other and I see that everone nowadays seems to be doing the DEW rather than the FRITE .. anyways good revi...ew.. though i tend to disagree on a few points.. The advertisements section have seen a plethora of reviews since it was launched and it is indeed heartening to see that the consumer is noticing every small detail of the ads and shredding it into pieces. The Reliance ads have however received a lot of unfair and undue criticism and as far as I...Read more

4) Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Wolf is back after a decade long hiatus. Return to Castle Wolfenstien (RTCW) is the sequel; no it is actually a remake of the original Wolf. You are agent Blaskowicz. The one man super army. The Allied spy for the secret operations bureau in England. Blah Blah blah ...and so on. . You must escape from Castle Wolfenstien. While doing so, a plot revolving around the occult and the paranormal starts to unwind. You soon get into the thick of the action. You’ get immediate orders from the joint Allied command i.e. the OSA to start unraveling the plot. In the ninth century, Prince Heinrich sought to forge an independent German state by creating an army of the evil undead. Heinrich’s attempt was foiled by a mysterious monk in 943 AD, and enshrined in a tomb on top of a mountain peak. Fast forward 1,000 years, and Himmler (the Nazi leader) is looking into the possibility of raising him from the dead and commanding his army of zombies against the Allies. And you have to save the world again! The graphics are breath-taking and with a Geforce3, you are in for a ride ! Read More

7) Medal Of Honor - Medal of Honor is a First Person Shooter like no other. Read further and you will know why this game is different from your other shooting games. The game was actually first created for the Playstation. The game is originally conceived by DreamWorks interactive which is the gam...e development of Steven Spielberg’s movie production company. It also won the Best of Show award at E3,2001. For those of you who don’t know, E3 stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo and it is here that all the major game developers showcase their forthcoming games. As I saw the initial video and played a few levels I could not help but notice the similarity with the movie Saving Private Ryan. You also have a recreation of the famous Omaha Beach Invasion in all its glory with many soldiers rushing out of boats on to the beach and you are one of them. You don the role of Lt. Mike Powell during one of the most talked about and storied times in the US - World War II. You are a ranger of the First Ranger Battalion of the Office of the Strategic Services (OSS). You are involved in a series of offensive taken by the Allied Power against the Axis. I might say that these “offensives” are in fact based on real and actual battles. So this game is as real as it gets when you look at the history side of it. You also have very realistic weaponry to go with it. Some men can change the tide of the battle can or an entire war his actions. Such men are able to see clearly in the face of chaos and give themselves completely to the cause and defy some huge odds to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Such men are called Heroes. So do you want to be a Hero?. Read More

6) Deus Ex - You are J.C Denton - a bio-mechanoid with feelings. The world is in turmoil as a conspirator threatens to destroy the whole world with a deadly kind of virus called “Gray Death”. So as you might have guessed, you have to save the world once again. The story is very engrossin...g and you actually get attached to the characters in the game. I actually had a lump in my throat when my chopper pilot dies in a crash. (I get very emotional with my games.)You have to pick locks, hack computers, swim etc. You get skill points for every mission you complete or any problem you handle tactfully. These skill points can be used to upgrade your skill level in skills like hacking, lock-picking, demolition, weapons skills from untrained to trained to advanced and to master. The skill points are not easy to get. So you better use those skill points, well, ‘skillfully’ Read More

5) Serious Sam -Serious Sam did one thing which people like me should be really thankful for. It bought the simple ‘Kill em all’ kind of action gaming back to the gaming world. I think we should all blame it on people at the Valve who by made the epic game half-life. They gave us more st...ory, more complexity and more realistic environments. But if you ask me, Serious Sam is a slap in the face for gamers like us. It is a reminder for people like us to remember that we really need to play a game, which is loads of fun. With is doom style gameplay - killing monsters, finding secrets and opening doors, Serious Sam is serious fun all the way. Like Doom, this too has a story which does not matter. You are Sam “Serious” Stone, muscle bound monster killer, sent back in time to ancient Egypt to destroy an Alien race from another dimension to take over another galaxy. And you know the rest…The monsters are very innovatively designed. Some of them will give you nightmares!! You will laugh when you see them the first time, and then spent the rest of the game despising them and cursing them. At times you have 70-80 monsters on the screen at once. This is a kind of game you will play when all other games bore you. It is a pure shot of adrenaline and is the most brainlessly pure fun game produced in the recent times. Read More
