The Heir returns. Review on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Movie

Eeeesh... Aiiiishhhh... ssssuhlukhshhhh... Welcome back to Hogwarts, Translated from Parsel-speak to Muggle-tongue

The Term begins...

In this second episode of Harry Potter (HP) series of movies, HP & his gang of friends mainly Hermione Granger, Ron Weasly and his sister Giny Weasly return back to Hogwarts to complete the second magical year of their Wizardry course at Hogwarts.

Some things never change... like the old principal Prof. Albus Dumbledore, Prof. Minvera McGonagall (head of Gryffindor house), Rubeus Hagrid, Argus Filch the owner of cat Mrs. Norris... of course Prof. Severus Snape,the dark arts teacher, master of potion making & the in-charge of Slytherin house. You have a new poster boy defense against the dark arts teacher in Gilderoy Lockhart after the last defense the Gryffindor got burnt the stone!!

While Prof. Pomona Sprout is busy ensuring a healthy harvest of Mandrakes & Madam Poppy Pomfrey with growing bones... things are not hunky-dory anymore at Hogwarts.

Heir of Slytherin

What with the number of 'Mud-bloods' (muggle-born wizards) increasing, the slytherin Quidditch team upgrading to Nimbus 2001s (wow... they are so sleek & to think we played on Nimbus 0.5 :(), the house elf Dobbi nearly killing HP with the pretext of saving him... and the Heir of Slytherin returning to Hogwarts to open the Chamber of Secrets...

Now a little bit of history for the benefit of Muggles. The Chamber of Secrets was built by Salazar Slytherin, the venerable founder of our Slytherin house & one of the four co-founder of Hogwarts. A great wizard of his times & opposed to Muggles & mud-bloods learning magic, of course his noble intentions being in the best interests of the noble art of Magic. When his philosophies found no takers amongst the other 3 founders, left Hogwarts after sealing Chamber of Secrets with a hideous secret lying beneath... now the legend has it that one day the true Heir of Slytherin will return to Hogwarts, open the chamber, unleash the unspeakable terror & bring about the 'Day of Reckoning' for all the mud-bloods.

The legend comes to life with the Mrs. Norris, a flash-happy Gyffindor, Justin, Nick the nearly-headless and... Hermoine Granger becoming petrified one after another!!

Who is this Heir? HPs sworn enemy & Slytherin seeker Draco Malfoy? His dad governor of Hogwarts Lucius Malfoy who has vested interests in showing Prof. Dumbledore the door? Or Harry Potter himself!!! With Dobbi the mysterious house elf trying every trick in the book including a tampered rogue Bludger, the Whomping Willow giving HP a whomping welcome, a flying car out of control etc. to stop HP from attending Hogwarts to stop an impending disaster... HPs uncanny ability to hear the Killer on the prowl... a voice no one else can hear. Or his ability to speak Parsel-tongue (language of snakes) a gift shared only by select few of Salazar Slytherins lineage... Is Harry Potter the One?? Is Harry Potter himself the other face of Voldemorte?

Or is it the undead VoldeMorte returning back to Hogwarts in the most unsuspected form? With the help of glamorous Mr. Gilderoy? May be it is the mad & hairy Rubeus Hagrid, who has a history of letting 3-headed dogs & hairy monsters loose ? The plot thickens ... to end in a place the least expected!!!

So get a handfull of Floo powder, ignore the Howlers,a cocktail of Poly-juice with cat hair, Mandrake-juice , bone-growing juice, eye drops of pheonix, sword of Godrick Gryffindor, the teeth of the basilisk, Errol the owl for directions, book of Tom volmoro Riddler to pass time , freshly caught cornish pixies for company and... watch the chamber Open!!

For the benefit of the Muggles

Fantastic Special Effects. The story line gets more darker & oriented to the older kids unlike HP1 which was targeted towards younger kids. Brilliance of J.K. Rowlings imagination & story telling shines. Chris Columbus is brilliant in bringing her imagination & characters to life. A Speilberg in the making?

Dobbi the house-elf comes close to Gollum seen in LOTR2 but short of it in the complexity of character & (un)realness.

Acting... would you watch LOTR & HP for Oscars stuff? Then why crib? Daniel Radcliffe as HP is cute. Rupert Grint who plays Ron Weasly could become a serious competitor to Adam Sandler in the days to come. He really has a flair for comedy. As usual Emma Watson as Hermoine Granger, the girl who cribs when exams stand cancelled; steals the cake even when she is petrified!!

By the by... any guesses as to which Seeker catches the Snitch this year?? Confused?... still in doubt??... just follow the spiders!!!
