there are small shops across the place which sell imported food products. In Mumbai try Heerapanna and other shops in Town. Try Alfa. In Banglore try Majestic. Dont know anywhere else. Usually they dont have everything, but its trying them out that makes it fun. I also ask any friends to pick up... something when they return from outside India.Read More

Since then I have graduated to other coffees. Some of the international Nescafe's are good. From South Africa or something there is the Arabica blend which is cheap and potent. From Canada/UK there are the Hazelnut/Caramel/Vanilla flavored ones, but stay away from those because they dont taste like... what you expect. Try Riche Melange/Columbian from nescafe Canada. Or Tasters Choice (any one), Or Maxwell House. Each of these instant coffee's, if prepared just right can taste something like what they serve in Coffee Day... RyRead More

Bollywood movies always tend to mix everything together, as if they give better value for money -- song, dance, drama, comedy, action. They try to roll all possible genres into a single 2 hour movie. Ok, so people have come to expect this. Thats actually our mistake. When we read a book, it does...nt have to be a combination of scifi, romance etc... One genre will do. Why should Bollywood continue churning out these mixed type movies? Sure, Hollwood has its few mixed type movies too, but most of them are of a single genre. Im happy that Black is different. I hope someday newer Hindi movies become like this. It would be nice to see a movie shot and set in India where they had a real good story and was shot without all the singing and dancing, and didnt combine all genres into one. At the same time, I think some parts could have been more realistic. See, you take a concept and then write a story and screenplay. But the story and sequence of events is usually based on certain ground rules where the characters take logical decisions as if they were real people. This didnt seem to happen in Black. Some things made sence, others didnt...Read More

Because its not really worth paying 100-150 for the ticket. See... Most people pay to see Bollywood movies for the fun and dance. Most people pay to see english movies for the story and depth. This movie abandons the first type for the second type but ends up somewhere in between... So I was expecti...ng a really deep story but didnt get it. Actually I was just being fair to Bangalore... It is an undeniable fact that there is much more IT happening there. Bandra Kurla and even Seepz cannot compare at all to ECity. Have you seen Infy and Wipros campuses there! Mind blowing compared to anything in Seepz. What about ITPL and the surroundin...g IT parks? Where do u get that in Bombay? Talking about the rains... I agree that I'd much rather have Mumbai's heavy and continuous rains that fill the lakes in a matter of days than Bangalore's half hearted drizzles -- even if it means you can drive 20km in Bangalore 'rain' without getting to badly wet, while in Bombay a little 'rain' turns small streets into rivers and highways into dangerous potholes with the occasional spot of flat tar... This is because in Mumbai you get water all year round, and the power fails once a year. In Bangalore there are many new layouts with water problems and the power fails throughout the city at least once every 24 hours. Most people dont notice this unless they leave their PC on 24 hours a day -- like me. I can put my entire review in a single sentence: Bangalore is a better place than Bombay in some respects, but Bombay is a better city. What I realized is that neither city is perfect. Both are a mixed bag. It depends on what you're used to, what you want from a city and where you stay in it! All we can do is to make our reviews as objective as possible without emoting and state both the pros and cons of each place, so that people can reach their own decisions on which city they prefer. (I dont think I did this well enough...)Read More

Hey Amit, I've got used to being in Bangalore, but although I thought it was pretty nice first, I dont think theres anything that special about it these days... Heres why: I used to think that the weather in Bangalore made up for the other problems, but it doesnt... I got here last May and it... was reasonably cool. Now after a decent winter, its getting hotter and hotter, and its only January. I can honestly say that at this point, it is as hot as I remember my home in Bombay being in Summer. Traffic is pretty bad these days, as is the pollution Bikes and cars cost more here than Bombay or Delhi. Petrol is also pretty expensive compared to some other cities. One thing I dislike about Pune and bangalore is that they make you form a queue in a seperate place at petrol pumps even if there is place at other places at the pump. In Bombay they treat a bike just like a car and you can pull in behind a car and fill in. People in bombay are more open to NonVegetarians. I have the option of eating pretty much any kind of meat in Bombay restraunts. Not so in Bangalore. There are continuous power cuts (aka load shedding) in summer. How primitive for the so called IT capital. No promenades to jog on. Parks are filled with old folks only and not with good looking young females (sigh) jogging like in Joggers Park where I stay in Bombay. MG Road, Brigade Road, Commercial Street is all hype. You cant buy a specific item of clothing you desire (say a denim jacket with metal buttons) even if you try all the shops. Clothes are expensive. Where are the road side clothes stalls like we have in Linking Road and Hill Road in Bandra? Where are those shops where they sell hot new electronics and other gizmos at cutthroat prices? I searched. I cant find a real good original english DVD library. I found one place and they have just a handful of original DVDs. Arent there any English music FM stations in this City? Why cant they do something to relieve Read More
