Some time ago I wrote a review on how I found Nescafe Sunrise (all variants) too bitter and strong. Well after 3 months of having it daily I adjusted to it and found ways of preparing it so that it didnt taste yuck.

Infact, adding coffee powder and sugar to half a cup of boiling milk and then adding cool water till the top was the best way, and I actually started loving the taste. THis is the exact opposite of the way Nescafe classic is 'supposed' to be prepared.... Boiling water first, then the coffee, and then the cool milk.

Anyhow, I tried Nescafe classic after a very long time and it tastes pure, without the effect of Chickory (people say it makes the coffee less bitter, I say it makes it more bitter, coz thats the major difference in Chickory coffee blends). It also is much paler in color and you're gonna want to add a lot more powder to compensate.

However, I have a feeling that caffeine levels are more weight for weight, so when you add more powder (eg, I added 1.5 teaspoon per large cup of Classic compared to just /.75 spoon of Sunrise)., you end up with significantly higher caffeine levels... You do get a kick, its just that the process involved in getting it is not very tasty...

So again, what do I do? Shall I read just to having a more expensive, tasteless, characterless coffee, or shall I make like the Southern Americans and go with the Chickory blends?

BTW, certain coffee powders (Nescafe Gold imported from Dubai) has this amazing punch (caffeine wise) and really distinctive taste. I had it once before and I'm planning on trying that next. It's the best overall...

Till next time.
