I did do a bit of RnD before buying a washing machine. I tried to buy a second hand one, but my colleagues either had very expensive front loading ones or very cheap semi automatic ones, on sale on our message boards, neither of which fit my requirements. I then considered new ones. Semi Automatic are inconvenient in the sense that you have to physically be present to make sure the clothes are washed, water is filled, dried etc. Its as boring as washing them myself. Point is to be able to dump the whole weeks clothes, switch the machine on and go out of the house or whatever and put them to dry when u come back. Advantage of having a washing machine is also that spin drying is so effective that the clothes dry in the afternoon in under 2 hours some clothes dry in 45 min. Im talking Bangalore when its hot and not raining... BTW. I read reviews of different top loading automatic machine brands on MouthShut, and I heard that the worst brand is Electrolux, and the worst service is Samsung. LG is one without any negative reviews and so I decided to go in for it. Videocon is so-so. LG has some pretty cheap machines, some automatic ones start from 10K. you can visit any good store and bargain. Mine costed 11000 after bargaining. Model 6627 6kg automatic. They recently discontinued this model. No big deal for me. So far the machine is pretty nice & exactly what I needed. You know. Dump weeks clothes, switch on, and do whatever other work u want. An hour later the clothes can be put out to dry.

That simple. Its also effective, even though its 'theoretically' the bottom of the line model based on fancy features like extra pulsator thingys. In my opinon all those gizmos are just ways to create new value segments for a product that is already close to perfection -- so that companies can make a bit of profit. They probably discontinued this model coz they wanted people to buy their slightly lower end 5.5kg model or go for their higher end 'pulsator twirly thingy models' which are 3-5 K more expensive, but in my opinion are no more effective, based on automation and cleaning capabilities. Service seems to be good. They sent some one for the demo on the same day itself. However I have not yet received the scratch cards they promised in their huge promo marketing campaign, which sucks. Why should everything else be good except this part of the deal? So bad luck for you if you didnt buy this one. If you do see it in a shop, I suggest going for it.
