To begin, take all the famous independant reviews/ shootouts (meant magazine reviews) with a pinch of salt....at the end of the day, everybody wants to make money duhh :-( Folks, I own a i20 for more than 2.5 years, so know a little bit what Hyundai sold to me. Bottom of all the niceties an...d despicable experiences, Hyundai is a Korean manufacturer after all with little of their own original car building research/technology. They have off late struck a chord with masses with fancy aerodynamic designs (outsourced to European designers), premium interiors etc. Whatever they offer inside of it is at the mercy of the component vendor’s inhouse technology offering. So what you get is a mash up of everything that looks attractive at first glance. I have been grappling with Shreenath Hyundai on a repeated complaint of steering wheel vibrating noise whenever front wheel hits bad road. Hyundai has sent out a confidential memo to all their service centres acknowledging a serious design flaw in the electronic motorised rack and pinion steering wheel assembly. Whenever the steering wheel kit/bush gets worn out the rack and pinion rattle and the sound is transmitted into the cabin. Hence, over two years, Shreenath Hyundai would have changed the steering wheel kit free of cost numerous times on each complaint and even replaced once the entire steering wheel assembly. All this is done free of cost only if the car owner raises rucus regarding the noise problem, otherwise they let the customers accept it as a usual thing and let it pass away... I have sworn to myself that my next car would be German....period!Read More

A golden rule in the medical world as a patient is never rely on one opinion. Any major disgnosis and medical procedure must be verified by at least 3 independant specialists. In a classical case, my father was saved from two instances of medical procedures/operation from a gall stone operation a...nd angioplasty over different ocassions some 25years and 10 years go. I remember this MD Cardiology performed a routine/preventive angiogram on my dad at Harkisondas hospital (my mother had a severe artherosclerosis) and said that he had a blockage by showing me a video of vessel constriction. He immediately booked the angioplasty session in the same premises at a cost of about Rs 70,000/- or so. However, good sense prevailed over me and I refered the same video to an eminent cardiologist- Dr Gandhi (near Mithibhai College). He checked the video and my dad's condition and ruled out the angioplasty saying my dad's heart was in pristine condition not requiring any medicines/intervention. After about 10 years, my dad being 72 years is healthier/active than me and doing extremely well! Read More

All types of data cards 2G or 3G use shared bandwidth of a particular transmission tower near you. If there are more users, you simply get a smaller share of bandwidth and inversely if you live in a remote location with less population, your bandwidth jumps. No twireless elecom company offers a fi...xed minumum bandwidth like what you get in case of wired/cable ADSL/DSL. All wireless data cards advertise the peak bandwidth (when you log in). I think the telecom companies must clearly mention that what they offer is not a fixed broadband but a variable bandwidth with the peak bandwith number. My suggestion is to go with Airtel ADSL combo (with telephone connection) and choose a fixed bandwidth plan. You normally get a steady bandwidth,110%- 125% of what is advertised. Speedtest, net is a nice way of measuring quality of the broadband connection.Read More

Hi, The current version available is only Gingerbread 2.3.3. You will notice that Samsung released the latest Android 2.3.5 globally through Samsung Kies 2.0.3.11082_152. They are not releasing the new version of Gingerbread 2.3.5 to Indian customers....why? Is it because of our skin colour or... the Koreans think we are fools? Since one year my other Omnia Pro B7610 Windows 6.1 has not yet received Windows 6.5 despite having been released months ago to the global customers. Their customer service centers do not yet have a firmware update despite a Windows 7.5 Mango OS has been released by Microsoft. I am disgusted with Samsung and their tardy customer service/support attitudeRead More

By the way, my car was a 1.2 lit Asta O, an older version and hence better chances of a discount today compared to the newly launched 1.4 lit version

Hi, Yes, it is surprising that these guys do not negotiate since the launch a year ago. One reason may be that they do not suspect a close competitor for the price/VFM and second, that there may be a short supply as this model is exported to Europe. You may also check up with A1 Hyundai at An...dheri East for negotiation. Shreenath did not give me discount but in lieu of money, they gave me many freebies worth about about Rs 22,000/- which I felt was ok for initial launch period. One other way is you may tell you are considering more purchases in your family or so to strike a negotiation or also meet up with their Branch Manager/Owner. Other way is try to negotiate through your loan banker who have good clout with the dealers. Some saving tips- -There is a commission charge the dealer recovers from you is the Loan financing bank commission of about Rs 2,000/- payable by the dealer to the bank (from his sales margin) for giving them a customer (you). You must speak to the bank to advise the dealer not to recover this amount. -One way of saving money is do not Insure through the dealer, who generally keep a margin of about Rs 2500/- on insurance premium. You can take independent quote from Insurers and get the best rate for you. -There is also a premium the dealers charge to register your vehicle with RTO and it ranges fro Rs 2,000/- to Rs 4,500/-. In case you can recruit some agent to do the job, it can turn out cheaper. These are some ways you can consider saving money when you buy a vehicle and wish you best of luck in purchase. Cheers! Hi, Congrats on purchase of i20! I am on the verge of booking i20 Asta O version in a days time. Before zeroing in for this car, i evaluated (test driven) Fiesta, Fusion, Honda City, Linea & Fabia. My final choices were City (for the styling), Fiesta 1.6 (for suspension & power) & i 20 (price point..., styling & premium feel interiors). i 20 has prevailed on value offering though with a less powerful engine of the lot (1.4 liter, 98 bhp version being launched by Dec 09). I have taken 3 test drives with 3 dealers of Hyundai. My only lingering concern in i20 was the lack of air conditioning chilling effect. I am restoring now to fit in Llumar Diamond sun films to cut down the heat ingress during peak summer. Regards, DwightRead More

Thanks to all of you for comments on the review of sndaya... I personnally feel that we are yet to have a very thorough evaluation of Swift. Yes...it is a great car for the price it is being sold!!! It has a strong VFM platform than an niche... I actually own a Getz GL.....i have been happy ow...ner since day one. No issues at all.... I could manouver it at an average 140-160kmph on my Mumbai- Pune -Mumbai trip on 21st July. It had a great road grip, precise steering control during heavy rains and high wind condition. Not a single car overtook me during my entire journey....(though a White lancer trailed me through half the journey trying to overtake) Average falls between 10-12kmpl for varing road condition. That is what i can tell you about my Getz. Cheers!! DwightRead More
