I find many of the comments made here as incorrect. I am not a big fan of Air Canada and do find their services incompetent, at times but have never heard of : (1) wine not being served in economy class, I myself have been served no. of times. However you do not get food & drinks for free in econ...omy class if the flight is within the country. This applied to several airlines of US so can't blame AC. (2) The issue of over booking and denying legitimate passengers a boarding pass is prevalaint everywhere. I had the same experience with Jet Airways in India, way back in 1999 . (3) I have always found AC personnel in Frankfurt, Rome etc. at the arrival terminals. But yes, AC is not a very good airlines and in today's competitive business situation I think all are equally lousy!Read More

Thanks Professor.... The idea here was not to analyse German mindset but to speak about Lufthansa. If all airlines were reflection of people's mindset, then Air India would probably be the best airlines in the world with the 'athiti devo bhvav' mindest that we Indians claim of!!!

I made two return trips(8 flights) by LH in Sep & Nov this year between Calgary and Delhi/Calcutta. It's not something exceptionally praiseworthy to mention but didn't find anything to reject outright. Check-ins at Calgary and Indian airports...Read more

I would agree with Rohan...I flew LH between Calgary to Delhi (& Calcutta) in Oct and Nov this year and don't find them to be that very disgusting. They do not compare with BA though but it's not that bad! I notice some of the crews were racists, but many others were absolutely friendly. And y...es, have been told about the delightful service with new AI fleets operating non-stop from JFK. Full support to AI so that they can upgrade themselves and bring back their good old days of 'Maharaja'!Read More

Your review reminds me of a travel by AI way back in 2005 (I posted a review on this) and since then I promised that what may come I will never board AI again. I support my country of origin and given a chance will contribute whatever little bit I can, but not at the cost of my sufferings...:) ...My brother travels between JFK (New York) and IGI (New Delhi) on their new B777 and tells it's absolutely pleasant, just as they say 'you will be pleasantly surprised'. It even reaches destination ahead of time!!! For me, LH and BA are still better though some of their crew behave like racists at times.Read More

Just one comment on the transit visa....it is the passenger's responsibility to be informed and obtain one prior to tarvelling. I know other airlines (like BA, LH) won't allow the passengers to board unless they have obtained such visas prior to travelling.

Basinet is something that most of the airlines screw up! But not sure how you can ask to be upgraded to Business Class for that reason. Also, I am not surprised if they didn't provide food for the infant because food is provided to only passengers with tickets. And, would you have fed your infant wi...th the milk even if they had provided. Agree with everything rest though, especially their temperament.Read More

Not exactly understood what you are trying to say. Do you mean that (a) we are responsible for stuffy & unclean toilets and (b) we need to be courteous to the crew first in order to get a polite reply? If this is the message, then my question would be is this normal with all other airlines? Why d...o we need to be different with AI? I travelled AI in 2005 and vowed not to travel again unless for some real monetary benefit, but that is my personal choice. When you all blame the Indian traveler for dirtying the toilets, I wonder why the toilets are not dirty in Jet Airways (I am referring to it’s long haul flights from Delhi to Toronto etc)? The experience begins at the check-in counter where you feel a big difference between our national carrier and rest. The way the passengers are handled at that point creates their first impression and drives their behavior for rest of the flight. Looks of air hostess hardly matters (I have seen old ladies in BA and Air Canada too) if their attitude is right. AI staffs typically have the ‘public sector’ approach. Interesting to note, the domestic wing of Indian Airlines has changed a lot in recent years, but reading so much about AI it seems they still continue to sell poor service at higher price (yes, their prices are not competitive). Hi...Infact I was planning to write a review after I flew 9W in Oct to Toronto. It was such a pleasant experience that this space would fall short of if written completely. They fly Airbus in this sector & somehow I like Airbus to Boeing aircrafts. For Jet, brand new aircrafts is an added advantage.... Getting Indian food in such a long sector is something cherishing. The other airline which will provide you Indian food is AI but no guarantee if they food will be stale. Even if the food is not stale, the face of the airhostess serving you would be stale...haha! Jet being a matured carrier know to handle passengers at Delhi & Brussels airport and do not try the cheap gimmicks like mini-skirted crews etc. The flight from Delhi to Toronto stops at Brussels and I could see so many Europeans flying in 9W inspite of having other choices. Same for Brussles-Toronto. The way they are expanding internationally I can safely predict this is going to be a preferred international carrier in whichever sector it starts operating. Nowadays I don’t have a 2nd thought in choosing my carrier while traveling to/within India. Read More

thanks for agreeing.....generally people become reactive when conflicting views are posted...lol! I don't mind a short stop-over as it gives an opportunity to refresh. I hate long stop overs as they stress you out. The stop-over at Brussels is so nicely managed that you do not get tired sitting ...in the airport but at the same time get a break in between. Brussel airport people welcome passengers by complimentary Belgium chocolates.....haha! This month end I am traveling to India 7 will be flying BA for some reasons. Never tried them. Read More

yes....Civic is a good car indeed. I used to drive 170 kms daily to work & back at an avg speed of 140 kmph (obviously it cannot be in India). it cannot be compared to Corolla being much bigger & smarter. Now when I changed my car I upgraded to Camry because Honda is no good in this range. But still..., cherish my days with Civic.Read More

Hi...actually when I flew KF for the 1st few times, during one of my long stays in India in 2006, I was thrilled too. Infact i even decided to stop flying 9W. But you know what? This flavor doesn't last long. KF looks good but they can't handle uncertainties and generally get delayed to the tune of ...15-30 mins (no big deal though). Jet whereas, is a matured carrier. They know to handle passenger grievances and do not try the cheap gimmicks like mini-skirted crews etc. Jet's food is probably the best in Indian skies and this time when I flew 9W from Delhi to Toronto, it was a memorable experience. The flight from Delhi to Toronto stops at Brussels and I could see so many Europeans flying in 9W inspite of having other choices. next time when u write a review can you shed off yr personal infos.....like the hypes about how u feel about India and the show-offs that you are always in US!!! I have seen various parts of the world starting from far-east to north america (in middle-east for few years too). India is actually ...better than north america (US/Canada i mean). What we did not have till last few years is the professional attitude, which is getting corrected off-late.Read More

Everybody writes like this but still people fly Air India. I think Air India should be stopped to operate. If our national carrrier puts their own citizens in trouble, then what do we expect from other carriers?

I didnt understand why you said it is not compared to EU/US airlines. Have you ever flown Lufthansa/KLM? They will remind you by all means that you hail from a 3rd world country....whereas SQ will not do so. Even otherwise & by all respects SQ is better than AF, LH or KLM..... Cheers!
