Read my comment carefully. I said the Bold costs $580 in the US UNLOCKED. That means you buy it already unlocked from AT&T. Once unlocked, always unlocked so what's the problem? And the unit is quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 meaning it works round the world (India is on GSM 900) and RIM always ...gives you a dual-voltage charger. Before thinking of making such a purchase, you should always read up on the unit ahead of time. The RIM site is a good place to start.Read More

The supplier doesn't know what he's talking about. The RIM manual clearly says the Bold supports up to a 32GB MicroSD card. I myself bought a 16GB MicroSD card about 6 months back (the max available to date) and have been using it in the Bold with NO problems. I have over 1,000 songs on it, plus abo...ut 3,000 pictures and 7 full-length movies - and there is still about 3GB of memory space left! One point to note - the Bold accepts only MicroSD cards. Please don't confuse that with a MiniSD card - those will NOT work on the Bold. The price of the MicroSD cards has really come down now. Enjoy! You will love the multimedia capabilities of the Bold.Read More

NarayanRS: Sorry, I don't agree with your comment. I agree with you that Civic has more cutting-edge and flashy styling. However, if you look at all other categories, I think Altis is a winner. For me, it's not just about looks, but it's also about performance, ride quality and the interiors. What's... under the hood and inside the car is to me more important than just design - and I'm a long way from being middle aged. Both my dad and I test drove the Civic and then the Altis and we both felt that the Altis offered a much better ride quality and more luxurious interiors. Don't take my word for it; do an apples-to-apples comparison for yourself, comparing the features offered by Altis on the base model compared to the features offered by Civic on the base model and I think you'll be convinced.Read More

Price-wise, the Bold goes for $300 in the US with a 2-year contract. It's $580 if you want to buy it unlocked. Not sure about prices in India.

Nice review. I had looked closely at the E71 before finally purchasing the Blackberry Bold 9000. One thing I disagree with you on is that the Blackberry appears plasticky and has a sub-par screen. The Bold is really well made and has a gorgeous half-VGA hi-res screen. It's even better than the iPhon...e 3G screen and that's saying a lot! I think the E71 screen is quarter-VGA, i.e., the Bold's screen has twice the resolution plus a gorgeous keyboard.Read More

Pricing wise, the Bold costs $300 with AT&T (you have to sign up for a 2-year contract) and $580 unlocked (no contract required). In terms of unique features, I would say the screen - I have never seen such a beautiful hi-res screen on any other portable device. I thought the iPhone screen was good,... but this just blows it out of the water. It makes reading emails, browsing the web and watching videos so much fun! The best part of the Bold is how it pulls so many functions together. Previously, I carried around a cell phone, Palm, and iPod, and now I just carry this one - so much simpler!Read More

Dude, you need to read my review carefully. I clearly mentioned that the set-up experience was ghastly. However, once it was up and running, support and service has been exceptional - they set up multiple email accounts for my dad with no hassles, and have been most helpful with any questions he h...ad. And they are pretty knowledgeable about Blackberries, which is reassuring. Very unfortunate experience. However, I'd like to point out something. When your parents were flying into the UK, they were flying Hong Kong-London-Manchester. The London-Manchester leg is therefore considered domestic (within the UK). I don't know the specific UK regulations but most countries arou...nd the world including the US, Canada, India, etc. require that when landing from an international destination, if you are connecting to a domestic flight (which in this case they were), you are required to clear immigration, collect your baggage and clear customs at the international airport where you landed (in this case Heathrow). Of course, if you are in international transit (your connecting flight is also international), that rule does not apply. I assume the UK has the same regulations as all other countries. Therefore, the CX officials at Heathrow were correct when they told your parents they had to collect their bags first and then re-check their bags since they were connecting to a domestic flight. And by the way, it's not the airlines' job to ferry the luggage over in this case, it's the passengers' responsibility. The fault lies with the CX staff in Hong Kong who should have known this and advised your parents accordingly so they would know what to expect.Read More

Your review is not useful to anyone. There's no info on how the seats were, how the food was, how the punctuality was, etc. Just a lot of irrelevant stuff about how you got good booze and female company!

ClarenceB, your comment is way out of line. Brokergal was just recounting her own experience, same as you and anyone else on this forum. And you're also off-base in thinking that all people who have flown Air India hated them. I flew Air India six months back on the new JFK-Mumbai non-stop flight.... The plane was new, I had a full flat seat (i was in business class), and everything about the flight - the food, service, IFE, baggage handling and punctuality - were all good. I have several friends who like me are constantly doing the NY-Mumbai long-haul every few months and they like the flight too. It's entirely possible that other Air India flights may not be good if they are on the older planes, but speaking for myself and several of my friends, I know we've all had good experiences on the non-stop flight. And no, I'm neither employed by Air India or need prescription meds to get through the day - my days are usually crazy enough.Read More

Just curious about one thing - when the lady at the check-in counter motioned to you to go to the lounge, why didn't you ask her where it was? On a recent KF flight within India, we were flying KF First and made it a point to ask them where the lounge was in Mumbai airport as we didn't know. After a...ll, there are many people who fly KF First regularly and presumably know their way to the lounge. It never hurts to ask the way, surely?Read More

For what you paid, I think you got a pretty good deal. On a recent trip to India, I flew Mumbai-Delhi roundtrip (a shorter distance than Chennai-Delhi) on Kingfisher and the cost was Rs.13k per head. Since you paid that but for two passengers on JetLite, it seems like a good deal. Being an LCC, the ...only way JetLite can make money is to have more rows of seats and cut back on food offerings. I believe they will begin charging for food and drinks on board soon, which seems quite fair. Or you could always bring your own. Ultimately, you can have good food and lots of legroom on a full-service carrier as we did on KF but the trade-off is you will have to pay a lot more per head. Can't have it both ways, particularly with oil prices being as high as they are now.Read More
