All my sympathies with the tragedy, but what is this thing aiming at? Someone wanting to be sensational? Come on guys, this thing seems too silly! Someone opening an account under the poor actress' name and getting back at the accused! And who is this y.yahoo? He seems to be the person who is well a...ware of what and who and why this sensational review was written. For all we know, that Sid chap may be innocent, and this may be just one of his political enemies. If not...come out in the open. Why this fillumchaap ideas? As for y.yahoo, it is indeed suggestiive that he opened an account on MS on Nov 27, 2004 at 8.08 AM, and he has a comment here just six minutes later on the same day. Seems like all he wanted was to do was to scream here. And no other details on his account, nothing read, nothing rated. Well.... I mean, this y.yahoo may be genuinely trying to punish the guilty, but why this hide-n-seek game? With best regards, Scribbles. P.S- Whoever wrote this review, please refrain from creating a sensation at the cost of a tragic death!Read More

I feel 'copied' is a very harsh word. In most of Pancham's songs, he used to take the opening lines of the song and then explore it on his own. This can also be seen in the Sholay number- 'Aaj jab tak hain'. By the way, the Iranian singer was Googoosh. As you said, 'Inspired' is a more apt word. ...Inspiration by foriegn tunes is a very old phenomemnon. Do read my review on Remixes. Take care. -Scribbles.Read More

As for Gabbar...get this! He started the trend. Many villains followed him...the audience had an overdose of it...and then, after being tired of all those loudmouths, you are seeing Gabbar Singh. It is quite understandable that you feel it is boring. But when it was released in 1975...it was not bor...ing! It was a new trend. The shabbiness with which Gabbar Singh eats tobacco and spits is something that no other villain could have dreamt of doing in that period. And it was his first film!!! As for RDB, I guess you should read the reviews of madlalya on MS...especially his reviews on R.D.Burman. It was surprising to see that you know about the original Mehbooba song SAY YOU LOVE ME. Hats off to you for that! Now, let us go a bit deep in this trivia... Demi's song was a 1974 release. Sholay was released in 1975. That means, the film was in the making in 1973-74. Now...I wouldn't bet on it that RDB copied. It can also turn out the other way round. And even if we said that RDB did copy...when I listen to both the tunes, I feel that Demi's song needed R.D.Burman to attain salvation! :) All aside...I must congratulate you for a wonderful review. It was really a very interesting one at that! Keep writing such super stuff! -ScribblesRead More

But a few points that you missed...which may change your view about the said movie. Firstly, you need to understand that the movie you are judging by 2004 standards was made way back in 1974-75. In those days, most definitely the three shots after a bout of heavy laughing was a shock for the aud...ience. Now you can anticipate it because a hoard of films were made based on Sholay and its shots. About your observation on the Kishore-Manna duet, I was indeed pleasantly surprised that someone could notice it! :) I have given a long thought on why Manna sang for Amitabh and Kishore for Darmpaaji, and here is what I think(though it may not be true...after all, I am just guessing). Kishore was always the preferred choice for RDB, and also a more saleable singer in the early seventies. In the film, Amitabh features in only the said song. Though he is there in the holi song, he does not do any lip sync to the song. On the other hand, Dharmendra had more scope for song singing, considering his role of a happy-go-lucky romantic. That may be the reason why Kishore was selected for Dharamji and not Amitabh, thus ensuring that Kishore gets more songs in the film. About Jaya's stomach, if you go through the making of Sholay, you will know that during the shooting of Sholay, Jaya was pregnant and in her seventh month. I guess one should give them a pat on the back if you thought it was just a stomach....it was really a pregnant tummy! If you see Sholay keeping in mind that it was made 30 years ago, you can imagine what a giant leap it was for Indian Cinema. Observe the camera movements in the train shot. Listen to the first STEREO background score by RDB. If you listen to the holi song, you can hear the first ever VOICE panning in the initial dialogues. Read More

That was a hilarious review. I couldn't stop laughing at the kind of person you are! Heh heh! Ok...here's my take: You feel that people like Rekha have no right to comment if they have not written a single review. Going by the above 'Kaminian'(you can read that as 'idiotic') law, this review l...oses it's credibility, as Kamini has not played a single cricket match for India. And what do you want the MSians to believe?...that Aarti and MS management came begging to you to come back, and agreed to your condition of activating Imran's account? (By the way, this is like Sachin asking for a waiver on his ferrari duty). But you know what...I sincerely hope that your bf comes back. I like the way he clowns around. Lol! That reminds me...in Imran's review on the Indian cricket team, he was raving about Imran Khan's 6 for 14 against India at Sharjah. I remember that the below average Paki batting crumbled in 87 runs, to concede the match to the Indians. Now...does that mean that Imran is a moron? How is he accountable for what his other teammates did? Think...Oh, I know you can't! But still, give it a try! Thinking is good! -Scribbles.Read More

This review is definitely written very creatively. Unfortunately, creative reviews are not necessarily good reviews. Your pros and cons says it all. In pros, you say- Everything about it, and in cons you say- Nothing about it. This, in itself, shows that you have written this review out of sheer... blind affection. I am sure that if not you, then someone in your house, a relative you love, or a friend you cherish is working for orange. Correct me if I am wrong. You should have written about both, the plus and the minus points of orange. Like many above, even I am a victim of the ORANGE carelessness. But like me, there must be other satisfied customers of ORANGE. The world is full of pros and cons....especially when we are talking of customer services. Please rethink on this review(cos I know you can write better if you think from a bird eye view, leaving aside your personal feelings), and if you make the needed changes, do M2M me...I did love to change the rating here. Take care. -Scribbles.Read More

Hey, it was indeed nice of all you folks up there to have commented on my review, if you can call it that! Sandil, I also define the statement 'if you can't confuse them, go get a life.' And thanks Prem, it is an honour to have you commenting on my review. I am one of your millions of fans. I... am thrilled- believe me. Hey Gogo, we two seem to think on the same wavelength. By the way, just a thought- isn't it ironic that a fellow named RAM SAY should make horror movies? And do watch Paisa Vasool, I really enjoyed it, especially the ten minutes in between...er.. And it was interesting to read the thoughts of an American on this film. For your information, the red dot on the forehead is called 'tika' and is considered as God's blessing to his devotee. This tika was also used as a farewell to the Indian warriors of the past, and in some cases, even the presen...t, where the women of the house put it on the foreheads of their men to wish them victory. However, the three dots on Gauri's chin is not a religious thing and comes more under the 'make-up' category of rural women. As for the review, it was top class. Loved your take on the film. One more glaring mistake in LAGAAN was pointed out by som MS member- in 1890s, a cricket over consisted of 8 balls and not of 6 balls as is shown in the film. Still, with all the flaws, the film remains a milestone in Indian cinema, and I am sure you agree that it was a truly well made film in the limitations of Indian cinema. -Scribbles.Read More

Remixes - the word itself needs no elaboration for the general Indian music lover. The last 4 years have been full of remixes. Firstly, what is a remix? According to me, a remix is an adaptation of old tunes to a new arrangement. Is this justified? Well, this is a question that has created qu...Read more
