They have increased the price of CSF from 800 range to a cool 1500Rs now....this for a filter that will have to be replaced every 6 months....I have already spent 4000Rs on this crap with 3 breakdowns and various filter changes within a 14 month duration. Given this great track record of HUL to suck... the blood of their customers....I have already decided to buy competitor product for my next purchase...Just to give a comparison the Eureka forbes in my Dads house has been running for almost similar period and they have not even spent a single paisa on maintenance so far...By the way I have no allegiance to any of these companies...but believe that sharing the experiences will ensure that people like HUL do not take their customers for a ride in todays world where knowledge and quality information is available at the click of a mouseRead More

@ravihegde - Thanks for putting your viewpoint. You say the given the nature of ULIPs we should not expect super returns. Its a marathon and give them 10 years. However if you noticed the performance of the Stock market in a 4 year period from 2010 to 2013, the indexes are at lifetime highs, a SIP i...n an average mutual fund also shows positive balance(Research on Moneycontrol or ValueresearchOnline etc.). If you were more aggressive and invested in Good stocks the returns would have been even higher. Now after 4 years an ICICI ULIP that I was mis-sold shows me 4% return and the Aviva shows me a 10% LOSS on a 3 lakh portfolio. This is the scenario when the Stocks at are lifetime highs. During the lows of 16K my Aviva portfolio was down 30% ....Now Aviva gives me a 6 lakh Sum Insured. Now if I had invested the 3 lakhs in an FD at a nominal 7% interest excluding taxes, I will still get 21K in interest income every year. If I spend 9K, I can get a 25Lakh Pure term insurance. I will still have 12K interest money per year which will be 48K more money at end of 4th year along with a 5X times better Insurance cover. Now I have just invested in the most conservative investment. A good look at the Top Mutual funds or other Good stock shows that I could have got even better returns. There are mutual funds that give you payout at regular intervals which you can re-invest. So even if the Stock market tanks tomorrow, these mutual funds have given you the payout during the profit cycle (or you have sold the stocks at a high). I can positively say that forget 10 years, even if you give these ULIP thieves 100 years, you will not get your money back or you will get far far lower money that what your good old PPF, FD gave and a ridiculously low money compared to a Good Mutual fund/Direct investments in Good Stocks. I will opt for Term plans and a good MF/Stock or even an FD/Debt instrument anyday compared to these conniving ULIP scamsters.Read More

Very True. I have both ICICI and Aviva Policy. I though ICICI did a lousy job with my money, but Aviva seems to be the worst of the worst. In the last 4 years when the markets have recovered to lifetime highs and all earning instruments like Stocks, MF etc. have given good to average returns, I stil...l have a 10% LOSS at Aviva to show for my investment!!! Even ICICI seems to be better as atleast there it shows me a 2% gain. I have already written an article about the way these cheaters loot us in the name of ULIPs. Please stay away from them be it private looters or even Public sector ones like LIC/SBI. Best thing is to go for a pure term plan and then invest the money as per your risk appetite in good stocks, mutual funds or debt instruments.Read More

True. I have also lost 30K of my money through Aviva. They are the worst..even ICICI seems to be better as my principal money has not been eaten away there!!!

Just an Update, my Honda Activa which I purchased after dumping this useless Kinetic/Mahindra bike in Jan 2010 is about to complete 4 years of peaceful travel. The only thing that conked off in these 4 years on the Honda is the OEM battery for which I have to use the kick start. The Suzuki Access th...at was purchased by my brother is also about to complete 4 years with no hiccups (even the battery is working fine). Both the Suzuki and Honda bikes has been well used, involved in nasty accidents, been to the tinkering section owned by their Authorized service centers...basically gone through usual life in the metro...Apart from the initial waiting time on Activa which was nearly 2 months(the Suzuki did not even have the wait time), Not even a single day has gone wherein I had to regret either of these purchases. Do not go by glib salesperson talks, or magazine reviews, or some hotshot celebs selling the bikes on primetime TV...read genuine reviews from aam admi sites like Mouthshut and make an informed decision.Read More

Thanks for the detailed review. I was trying to book a holiday package through MakeMyTrip.com and was getting called on my mobile frequently to confirm my booking. Instead of throwing my money into RuinYourTrip.com I will look elsewhere.
