Being a regular visitor to this site, i cant but comment on the dealer satisfaction. I purchased Xeta from Shaman Automobiles, Mumbai. I got excellent experience of after sales service. I had some problems regarding poor mileage but as i got to know the more kms you drive the mileage improves accord...ingly. I went to the service station and the Incharge very patiently explained all the nitty gritties as well as he checked up with the laptop everything of the engine and the rest to satisfy my queries. I would say it was a service with a smile and i was given the mobile number of the Incharge of the service station if ever i had any problems with my Xeta. I m fully satisfied with the Shaman Auto and i would recommend it to all and sundry and i hope their tribes increase.Read More

I fully agree regarding the bad quality of alloy for the rims. One of the car rims has gone bent due to pot holes and i have hardly completed 1000kms. And i agree the quality of plastic used is pathetic esp the side view mirrors. Its a new car but looking at those mirrors it looks so old. I will hav...e a mind to change to some other if they are available both the side view mirrors. And after few more dented rims I think i will have to go for alloy wheels which i wanted to buy but postponed but it seems now i will be forced to buy it. And one more thing the V2 thats stuck on both sides easily comes off in few days. The driving is a bit uneasy as far as gear shifts are concerned even after few months of driving. But, as they say you get what you pay for. I think Tatas must look into thisRead More

First let me congratulate you on your new Xeta. I had on option too when i bought the car of converting into CNG but since my driving is not much so I didnt opt for it and moreover it leaves no space in the boot for anything. Regarding the dent thing I would strongly suggest you go to authorised de...aler to fix your dent if u want your car as good as new. Never trust those roadside denters you will regret it. I have had a bad experience on my last car. Regarding insurance claim its your call coz you never know when you might go for claims again. I dont have any idea regarding woofers so cant really comment on it. Well, my Blaunpunkt system and speakers are just wow and its got X bass feature too and i dont think i need to go for anything more then what i have already installed. Happy Diwali to you and to all Mouthshut members.Read More

Being already a satisfied owner of one i can vouch for the mileage, safety, space, and power of Xeta. Well, i am getting 12km/litre with ac on in mumbai and 14 km/litre with ac on in Expressway. Altos interiors are cramped and there is very legroom at the rear. The rear seats are wide enough for bar...ely 2 persons and the boot is so tiny that if it wasnt there you wont miss it. And now the prices which are comparable to Xeta but you get lots more as standard equipments in Xeta as standard equipment as compared to Alto. The Xetas cabin is airy with good beige interiors. The door opens at 90 degrees which makes easy ingress and egress. Alto is 3 cylinder ,796 cc and Xeta is 4 cylinders 1396 cc.Xeta has 32 bit ECU for smooth engine performance. If you tally up everything you will be for sure that Xeta is the clear winner.Read More

I bought a Blaunpunkt Maui MP3 music system with bill for 13045 with original Blaupunkt speakers. I would suggest if any one of you are planning to buy one please check this out too. I would like to further add that its adaptable to your Ipod and comes with 2 year free insurance. I have taken 6*9 o...val speakers and sideways 6' inches speaker. I got one Fm adaptor that that i connect to IPod and then you can play your ipod through your FM. I want to know is it useful to have cd changer and where to fit it Xeta. Tata guys told me that the grey market stuff is not to be trusted. Would like to know if any one is using Blaupunkt. I find its real groovy and the sound quality is true German perfection.Read More

Dear friend, Being a GLG Xeta owner myself i fully agree with your observations. Xeta is fast and while driving on Expressway you never know when you hit 100. And while idling i have been mistaken often if the ignition is on or not. Regarding AC its powerful because if the guys at the back after ...a while say that you switch off the AC or lower the blower speed coz its getting a bit chilly then you have a winner at your hands. I drove my Xeta on the Ghats while going to Pune and it drove so effortlessly that I think I had made a good decision owning it. Well, I have read few negative comments regarding the interiors and all from few friends but that because they want a Honda City kinda car for the cost of a Xeta. For them I would say Dream on my friends. At last i would say it gives all bang for your hard earned dough. Read More

Dear Amohan, I have bought a black colour Xeta GLG coz i wanted one with power windows which looks sleek and many in my society mistook it for Honda City (if you see Xeta from the front). I have got the beige leather covers for the car which gives a sleek look and they compliment with the interiors... as well as the black exterior. I have not used any alloy wheels/wheel caps which are ones personal choice. Just this Sunday I had met one automobile engineer from Mahindras and he was complimenting on my choice of Xeta as a fine refined car in price as well as performance. On road price of Xeta inclusive of Road Tax, Registration and Insurance minus Cash Discount of Rs 20.000 comes to Rs 3,27,624. I got free accessories from my dealer which are as follows: 1. Sp Floor Rubber Matts. 2. Dicky Mat 3.Mud Flaps 4.Air Freshner Bottle. 5.Anti-Rust Treatment ( very important in city like Mumbai) 6.Sun Film Garware. 7.Number Plates. I would suggest if the dealer gives you freebies like this ask him that he give you more cash discount and get these from the wholesale market. Accessories I have bought are 1. Blaupunkt MP3 with Speakers (original with bill) Model Maui with Oval speakers at the back and 6 inches speakers at the sides (all Blaupunkt). It comes with 2 years free insurance and Warranty. Cost Total including fitting Rs 14000. 2. PU leather seat covers Beige colour For Rs 3200 3. AutoCop Model XS- 5500/5550 for Rs 3350. I needed Half Kit as I have Xeta GLG which has a manual Central Locking. 4.Another Set of Imported Matts for Rs 450. 5. P.N (Most Important). I bought a heavy duty Vacuum Cleaner for the car for Rs 500. 6. Steering Lock for Rs 175. If you are buying a new car get quotations from diffferent dealers and then haggle for cash discount and whoever gives you Max go for them. I will post the pics of my car soon. Read More

Hi friend, I would suggest you go and get your Xeta. Regarding mileage as my friends says it improves with your usage. Since my friends are already getting 12 to 13 km/litre, i doubt why you and me will not get the same. Its true that initially the mileage is low. I got the RPM checked and its per...fect so is the ECU as some friends had suggested. The after sales service is excellent of Tatas so dont you worry about anything. Hope to hear from you soon with your comments on your new XetaRead More

Hi First let me congratulate you on being a proud owner of Xeta. I hope as the days go by you will get all the bang for the bucks you spent on your car. Regarding calculating mileage, you have to first fill the tank full and then note the time and make the trip meter zero. After you finish your j...ourney come back to the same petrol pump and again fill up the tank. You will get the petrol used in the trip plus the kms you have travelled from the tripmetre. Please note you have to note the time you have spent in driving condition in your journey. Suppose you travel from point A, note the time, then you reach point B, note the time, then you start from point B note the time again and then reach point C you note the time. Please note time only when your engine is running. After point C you suppose go back to point A. note that time too. A is the point where you filled your tank full. With this info you calculate the time you have spent in travelling from point A back to point A. You also have the kms you have covered. With this data you have 1) Your speed in km/hr and 2) Your mileage in km/litre. According to Tata ideally at a speed of 50 to 60 km/hr the average should be around 13 to 14km/litre. I hope it will help you to calculate your actual mileage Read More

If you see the price of Indica and you want the style of Honda City etc then Keep Dreaming folks. It is still best in its category. And, yes i also agree to mismatch of wheel-arch vs wheel-size.

I test drove a Santro before going for Indica Xeta. I am also from Mumbai and I really fail to understand where in Mumbai can you drive at 140km/hr. Please let me know, even Sachin Tendulkar drives only at midnights his Ferrari and i can vouch he would have never achieved that speed in Mumbai. W...ell to drive a car at 140km/hr you need special TYRES and which are not provided as OEMs by Indian auto companies and Indian roads even our Exrpress way Mumbai to Pune is not fit for that kinda speed. You can try Autobahn. Regarding space well try to fit 3 persons at the back of Santro and you would know. Its just an average car no doubt better than whats there in Maruti stable. But a box is a box is a box. Sorry to say this but it always gives me this box feeling. I cant comment on mileage because I havent owned one to comment on it. But at last I would like to add if the owner is happy who am i to take panga. Keep smiling Regards Vivek Read More

I think Maruti should seriously think of dumping Maruti 800 and Alto into the Arabian Sea and Start from drawing board a new car that is in tune with the time. The old times have gone when Indians were in mercy of Ambassadors, Fiats and Maruti 800s. New models with latest technology and agressive pr...icing are hitting the motown. I have recently purchased an Indica Xeta with the same price range as Alto. I went to the Maruti showroom and they showed me Wagon R ( new model ). And even with so called better looks it still looked like a box. So fellas Maruti is now passe. Go for new kids on the block. Regards VivekRead More

I have been getting similar views from friends and getting lots of anxious calls from would be indica owners regarding the fuel efficiency of Xeta. I have yet to go to the service guys. But I would like to add that Xeta has a high compression engine and so it runs betteron 91 octane fuel or higher. ...Tata enginners recommend 97 octane for the optimal performance of Xeta. I would like to know from existing owners is Octane really the preferred fuel for Xeta. Regards VivekRead More

After doing around 500 km the average shot up substantially to 12 km/litre. After doing 1000 km I had a chance to go twice to Pune from ...Read more
