As such over time I've realized that secularism is another word which we use in place of ''adjustment'' or ''compromise''.... the alternative was partition as was ...so violently witnessed in the case of Pakistan. contd... So that evening when I get home after checking in on the inlaws, on a hunch I go to facebook and search for Kukreti. There he is: http://on.fb.me/ckeeid. It's been a month since this incident happened and the car was delivered day before yesterday. I sent Kukreti a SMS on his cell phone wit...h the details of the bill. I even left him a message on Facebook. Dude has had the time to play ''Good or Evil'' on Facebook and find out that ''Rohit has controled own status by Good & Evil and learn the result is a100% EVIL''. But no he is not man enough to stand up and pay his bills. He has no time or good upbringing to stand up and respond to a retired old man, not to pay for the damages but to atleast call up and find out if they were doing ok and that they are not injured or unwell. Oh no sire he is busy winning Rohit Kukreti just won a trophy in Monster Truck trials In my books such an inconsiderate person is symptomatic of a bigger evil just waiting to manifest itself. A lot of us in this generation are like this but then we need to change we need to slow down and most of all we need to, unlike Mr. Kukreti, dislodge our deep seated heads from our purifying bum holes and then proceed to slice away that part of our ears that has of late started to resemble a bluetooth earpiece. Give up phones and listen to people around you. Trust me those friends you have on the phone will not be there to pull you out of a car crash, they might be there for the stories you weave regarding non-existent females that you were saving and to drink beer you buy for them and clap about how you had a miraculous escape, but not in real life/real time.... so disconnect the phone and connect to the guy standing next to you. contd... Finally the estimate is given and the adviser asks us if we would like to pay now and get the difference returned or extra charged later. Kukreti pulls his fattest lie at this point. I mean I have to hand it to him this guy is totally crafty, I wonder if that is why Deccan360 promoted him f...rom their potato ferrying job to that of Operations Controller. He goes ''I can't pay now I do not have the money at all''. Dude cannot pay a 11k bill for repairs. Can you believe that? Obviously he is on probation at Deccan360 and is having to pay for the luxury of using office stationery in the loo (which obviously he has no idea of how to use coz crap still is hitting the roof every time he leaves office). The adviser takes me aside and says ''sir we can accept credit cards please don't let this guy run away he will not pay''. I tell Rohit to use his credit card to pay then or I could take him to an ATM. ''No sir try to understand I just do not have the money at all right now but I promise on my mother that I will pay the moment the car is ready''. Mind you he used those words and I'm quoting verbatim. Me being the gullible fool that I am, given that I've been in that sort of state money wise earlier in my life, I take his phone number and tell him I did not really want the money but at least he should have felt responsible and apologetic about the whole incident which unfortunately never happened. I tell him I'll leave a message on his cell once the car was ready and look for him to do the correct thing, correct not by me but by the old man whose doctors appointment he just ruined and in addition caused him to take uncomfortable trains to the doctors for the ensuing one month (stairs are an ordeal at that age and that's just what the FiL and MiL are having to take every time they come to this side of town to visit their doctor..... they do not want to take one of our cars as again Mr. Gupta has his principles unlike Rohit Kukreti).Read More

contd... Kukreti by now was stammering and looking to find a way out. He said he never said he wont pay for the repair, yes sir a complete 360degree change in stance. He offers to come to the service station with us and get the estimate and pay for the damage. In return he requests us to not lodge t...he police complaint. The threat to throw him into the lockup probably worked. Anyways I was not too keen on having Kukreti thrown into any sort of lockup for the simple reason that I did not want any of us to walk away from this situation holding a lifelong grudge.So I agree and we drive out of the police station. On the way Kukreti starts calling up his friends again and asking for yes wait for it ''do you have any acquaintance at Automotive Motors Nerrul?''. I mean he is a chronic fixer this guy. He wants connections at a auto workshop before going and figuring things out for himself. I wonder on what basis they hired him at Deccan360. Did they ask him to lift a sack of potatoes and run up and down a flight of stairs before saying ok Kuki you are on you can be our point man for aloo moving operations!!! Anyways Rohit is perpetually busy on the phone trying to prove to me (someone who runs his own business and has obviously a lot more to take care of than a potato shifter) that he is losing productivity. We get the Maruti workshop to send a tow truck with two drivers to the accident spot. They inspect the car and then concur that the car can be driven to the workshop. Kukreti of course is special he insists on driving his car (with a broken radiator and what not) on his own (macho alpha male after all) and he does drive it all the time the phone glued between ear and shoulder. I am hell bent on making this guy waste this day at least. We wait patiently for the survey to be done and an estimate. All the while Mr. Kukreti is busy explaining to his friends how he saved a woman whom no one else saw on the road and ended up rear ending a retired old mans car.Read More

contd... I ask the cops to take us to the local police station and register a complaint. Since neither of the two cars can be moved I ferry Joy(my BiL and the guy driving the M800) and Kukreti to the Belapur police station. Kukreti says a very funny thing on being asked to sit in my car ''should I s...it in the back seat if my face irritates you?''.... I tell him that ''unlike you I focus on the road when driving not on the face of any and every other person on, off or under my car(ooops)''. At the police station the duty officer tells his subordinates to throw Mr. Kukreti into the lockup after listening to the story. This to me is a bad thing I mean whatever the reason there has to be a way to figure things out amicably. Kukreti is still busy dialing numbers and hands over the phone to the SHO who does the customary head nodding and then hands the phone back to Kukreti exasperated. I laugh at the situation and ask the SHO ''so do you want me to make some phone calls too? is that how you work?'' to which he replies ''no sir calls will keep coming we have to look at the report and act accordingly''. This is what is actually wrong with our country policemen want to work, if only poliiticians and political aspirants would let them. Anyways so the SHO tells Kukreti to apologize and figure out a compromise if he wants to avoid jail time and hassles. Also the SHO informs me that if we go the legal way the cars would be impounded and not repaired till the case is settled and even then the insurance company has it's processing to complete. Essentially a retired Dy. CEO of KVIC (the highest executive in a Central Government agency) who had lived his life by the book all his life and by the end of his tenure had not made enough money even to buy a decent four wheeler (the M800 was bought by Joy when he used to work at BPCL before taking a break to do his MBA from NMIMS) was being asked to run from pillar to post by the same system that he had tried to better.Read More

Lenovo 3000 G430

I got a two year onsite warranty extension from Aforeserve in Feb2008 for a laptop purchased in Nov2007. At the time I was explained that once the one year warranty warranty that comes with the laptop expires this new two years extended one would kick in. So effectively I should have been covered ti...ll November 2010. Today I called up Aforeserve (after having mailed lenovo support and being told that my laptops warranty had expired). was told to mail IBM support now and also that Aforeserve is no longer recognized by Lenovo! So dude who's servicing my warranty?!! Somehow it seems like when in Rome do the Roman is being taken a bit to literally by these foreign companies (Lenovo I mean).... something tells me eventually I'll need to carry in my laptop to the service center inspite of it having a valid onsite warranty..... and then being billed for some weird reason.... aforeserve sucks, Lenovo sucks big time..... the next purchase is a Dell definitely....Read More

UPDATE: Recieved a mail from a tmf.co.in Id. Mail says and I quote ' This is regarding your complaint addressed to TATA CAPITAL LTD. We have looked into the details of your complaint and have reversed the Bank Charges in your account wrongly levied even though the bouncing was due to ...technical reasons. We apologise for the notice sent to you and also for the inconvenience caused to you. Please note that regarding balance of overdue charges of Rs. 436.34/- we request you to ignore the same and this can be reversed only at the time of termination. We thank you for associating with Tata Capital Ltd. ' No written communication to this effect has been received so I am not going to take this as the end of this issue. Have asked for an account statement to be mailed or at least something that says this legal notice has been rescinded. I need something that would assure me that at the time of closing out the loan I would not be harassed again.Read More

Thanks for pointing it out Sajit. I did look for Tata Capital when filing this review but couldn’t find it. anyways I’ve added it under a separate category now. as such it looks like things might actually resolve amicably as I received a call from the regional fixer for Tata Capital (maybe a RM or s...omething) and he went through the case details as well as the account statements that I had earlier mailed and has assured me that this is a problem on the end of TC so will be fixed by them. Also got a call from a third agency someone named e-nxt which takes care of complaints against Tata Capital they too agreed to my point of view and are coordinating to get it resolved.....
