Buddy, Congrats! Few thoughts. 1. Check tyre pressure - keep all 30 points from a reliablepump - should not be so stiff, and shud not be too loose either 2. Components and fluids check! - see if your break oil, coolant etc levels are to the mark! 3. Driving style matters a lot! you must have co...me across turbo pull and turbo lag, - you should wisely convert the turbo pull called torque as advantage in city drivings, this will help in city drive without muh gear shifts - it will take few months for u to get used to. 4. Look at RPM, gear change - safely change gears between 1500 to 2200 RPM. 5. Change DIS to Instant Consumption mode and look at instant mileage and drive, it wil hint you on your driving style and improve in getting great milage. Even a Petrol punto managed to get 21+ mileage in b're-mysore trip in this way - look at arunseshu's review. As a last point, it can be a defective machine, unluckily of the lot, after trying out all the above, if nothing works out for say 2 months, try to get another car! happy motoring!Read More

Time to make a call, FIAT! Seriously!

That’s just amazing! Arunseshu had written he had touched 180kmph in Hunsur highway. Congrats. @countme91 : If you are used to-with torquey driving and know how to guide your car’s torque in your advantage, you will yield decent mileage even on hair pins and hilly areas i believe. i cross checked ...it many times; went to vagamon, travelled over various ghat sections of Malnadu; once crossing the 27 hair pin bends of Satyamangalam forest area, mileage before and after the bends on a trip from Coimbatore (about 75 kms), and it remained reasonable after reaching Dimbam! Overall before climbing was close to 22 kmpl and after hair pins near to 19 + . that same trip to Bangalore yielded me 25.5 kmpl frugality9335 kms trip) for your records. Recent trip from Trivandrum to Bangalore via Tirunelveli - 730 kms in 11 hrs with a break of 1.45 hrs yielded me 20.9 kmpl. It’s a fantastic car.Read More

@Mike78, the mileage is not hypothetical or biased I could vouch from my experience. I have a Nov 2009 MJD Emo Pack that clocked 22000 kms. During my recent Coimbatore-Bangalore round trip (close to 800 kms) it had returned FE of 20.6 kmpl. I have achived 21.7 kmpl of diesel and many times 21 + dur...ing Coimbatore to my home in TVM, 450 kms one side distance.Read More

Nice to know you are going in true colours with Punto! Great mileage. Recently I face an issue, my Emo Pack diesel clocked 21500 kms, i’ve given for claim and service (there was a dent in left rear wheelarch due to my carelessness) and just before the service/claim i had noticed when crossing 110 ...kmph speed the car started giving vibrations and uncomfortable to speed up. this was not the case early, my Charu was very smooth in any speed ! The service man@Tafe, coimb’re says this is due to tyre wear, buds are gone so vibration may be there. is it true..? i think it is NOT. what could be the case? KINDLY share/advise me! thanks. should i change front 2 tyres with new ones to get back the feel and get devoid of vibes? balancing/alignment i had suggested him to do, suspension is also ok serv engr told. car to be received 2 days later. I want to get back the feel @ high speeds and want to do really LONG distances so certainly need the feel back. Any similar exp from great mile munchers, please share your exp and thoughts! ThQ. Buddies, any of you PETE'd Punto? any good exp to share? Is it worth trying?Read More

Hello Ravindran, I think you are right - petrol may not require filter-changes as often as in diesels; but not quiet sure. Please check in team-bhp or any other experts directly. Friends, please comment if you have any know-how! thnks.

Hello Ajay, Thanks for your input of real-time information. Yes - it gives a decent idea on the service cost to owners from various quarters. Swift is a highly practical and most peppy hatch around. Congrats on churning up miles and utilising the diesel hatch to its best. Wish you Happy and safe ...motoring! BR- Dileep NarayananRead More

Situation is understood and feel pity though, individual circumstance for a test drive request is not the evaluation base for a nicely engineered product that is a huge success in Europe. You are spreading the Wrong message to the mass! I have one year of wonderful experience with the product, and... highly satisfied, completed 2 services too. Also your rating on ’Looks’ (1/5) and comment on ’Pros’ (Pros: looks are good) are conflicting! (OXYMORON) Purely baseless and too early to judge. This is an example of how a review should NOT be!Read More

I see your point here, but FYI: I20 Magna and Magna Option (with Driver airbag and optional ABS) fits in the budget. Also I own and drive Punto for 9 mths, 15000 kms done (diesel emo pack). Handilng is the best in class, POLO comes closer and FIGO too to an extent in handling and ride. Also back sea...t we all all noticed including myself- are never shaky, but comfortable, many my friends/colleagues travelled long distances in my car also reported this; may be the car you test drove had suspension issues. Interior in Punto is dull, Polo is very good. you may check my over all experience in the review i have done on my Punto.Read More

I think you are comparing Polo to a different class of cars! Did you try Punto(Emotion or Emo pack) and I20? the petrol versions are competitive in pricing and spare parts price list i have checked for Punto, in most of the common components I found Punto’s is the lowest in market. Definitely Polo i...s a good car too, i have taken test drive. :-) . Slightly high parts price if you can afford, with better A.S S I20 is a better bet too. I have driven the petrol version and am impressed with.Read More

I completely back rmaharishi's opinion, i too own a punto diesel (review and exp. shared already) and i hav reached 14k kms, no complaints so far, esp happy on my decision after driving few other cars including new launches. Mixed reactions on service. Btw you may try with FIAT India, write your gri...evances to the concerned top-management, and escalate the issue. See what may happen and- that would be a good experience sharing for all we owners. Hope for the best. Did you use Instant Consumption mode of DIS..? that helps in getting best mileage even in Petrol. p.s: pls provide exact model, purch price etc. Read More

Congrat Hebin, White is an amazing colour for Punto! (I saw it only after buying my med grey!) From your descpn your car seems to be MJD Emo Pack. Fog lamps will help during misty night drives, i never had any problems and found head lamps decent. 3000 km is enough to judge the car, i would say! Wha...t is on road price? BS-IV or III ? Instant Consumption mode will help you gain max mileage. all the best. DileepRead More

hello Anooj, without any bias, i could say there are good and bad A S S & Service from FIAT, a mix of both, say 50-50. My personal experience goes with it (completed 12000 kms in 7 months with MJD EP), say for instance: TVM -Kulathunkal : Average to Poor quality service; TAFE Coimbatore provided... me very good and responsible service in all my visits(more than expected each time - details i have put in my review). I have read many reviews/experiences shared and found this. But you are right, this long term trust factor of good service FIAT should notice and improve of course, but i think this(50% not-so-good service) is not a good reason to say NO to this wonderful product! i would say, still this is not the time to jump into such conclusions! and as FIAT sees the models Linea & Punto as their best bet to survive back in our market, they will come up with better plans -see they introduced first the 24 x 7 on road assistance for 50 months, which is a great customer support. i have used it once on a break-down. Here all TATA service stations are linked to provide this support. BTW do you own one, or just remarks from your friends who own Puntos and/or from your test drives..? br DileepRead More

derebji, that’s interesting to know. :-) yes, let’s hope for the long life of the tie up. @zameer, true - this car is a joy to drive and live with, but as you said let’s see how VW survives the ’’price war’’ with others. Surprisingly, yes-they have lot of pending orders and more than 3 months wai...ting(my friend’s exp here, for his colour choice). Wouldn’t it be a nice option to buy an easily available low end model from Figo/Swift/Punto/Vista according to personal choices(space/practicality/brand/accessory availability/performance etc) and replace with best profile tyres(ex: 195(or 205) x R60 x 15’’) and after market fitments of necessary features and customize to need?Read More

Hi Route66, it is the same gear lever you need to push down vertically- it will move in a nice fashion - and then shift to the rev gear position=> this is some thing interesting and enjoyable! In some other (European) cars there is a 'Child' lever (a steel piece kind of push button) located in... gear lever itself. You have to keep it pressed, then only reverse gear you could put! I have driven such a car in Germany (new Opel Astra 1.7l diesel hatchback).Read More

Nice review. When do you plan to change oil..? Now @11k kms or just before 15k as advised in manual..? any major repairs/problems you faced till date...? Which model is yours? My car’s clutch’s slave cylinder all on a sudden got leaked last week (nearing 10k kms) and was unable to shift gear-and ...i got into trouble. The car got towed up by TAFE Access Coimbatore-ZERO cost service (including parts replacement, labour and towing! Excellent work! ). it’s seemingly an uncommon problem. any one faced any similar problems..?Read More
