I suppose I have gone there on and off when in Mumbai. Can't agree more with you. I gather they are still unhurried and laid back, like 100 years back. Affordable it was and meeting friends there helped. Will visit again when next in Mumbai.

This is the weakest attempt by Raju. I am sure he has seen OMG and still made this film. It is poorly written and there is no novelty. The theme is simplistic with a view that the public has no brains. Look what they have done with Anushka? I feel they made her look like a caricature and not ...Read more

Hi Vinod ji, Good review - you have beauty product for all parts of body. What about the soul? I am sure you will give a befitting reply. I liked the info but it is rather brief. Thanks Rajni. You are spot on and it is a story by Chetan. Yes someone worked on its script but the fact remains that the story will always remain of Chetan. When will we in India understand the meaning of copyright??? Here We just try to grab anything, even if it belongs to someone else. Look at il...legal constructions and even those people who have huge houses and big plots do not hesitate to grab that little patch on the road and put their own flowerbeds when no one is watching!!! Well Chatan is watching them all. Aamir may be a very smart and a perfectionist as an actor but will not be able to match the brain power of a writer as smart as Chetan. One of the Channels should have them one on one and see the Tamasha!! I am sure the four together will come second best against Chetan. He is not loosing his cool, because he is right.Read More

This controversy is at the moment very much on the air and the allegations and counter allegations are flying. The credit for the story is being given to someone else and Chetan has raised the issue by saying that he is hurt as he has not been suitably acknowledged. I can see this to be a com...Read more

Hi, They did some good work on the look of SRK, but thats it. Full marks to the music arranger who played the harmonium in the song Holle Holle se.... Your observations in the review tells me that you watch films very keenly and it is great. As regards Adi I would say this is the lowest point ...in his film making career. YRF have a story department and I would have fired them for such a poor story and would have shot in my foot for choosing such poor story. I think YRF also think that we the viewers are idiots. Good work keep it up. Regards SanjeevRead More

Hi, What a lovely writeup. You have good command on the medium and your expression comes across very well. You are honest and I must admit I share your observations. It amazes me that people will buy anything. This film is based on couple of films and I wonder why we do not have our original plot...s??? We are spending millions on a story that is well known. Aamir is OK but the whole plot is very week and the villain did disappoint me. Good write up that also has content. Regards SanjeevRead More

Hi, The review should have a structure to capture your thoughts. While writing a review there are a number of examples on MS that will help. Remember it is site where you hone your skills as a writer so a short review defeats the purpose. I am sure you can write longer reviews. Why a film is good... or as bad as it is - is something we like to know. Your effort is good but it is too short. Regards SanjeevRead More

Hi, Looks like Akshay has lost it. Once an actor reaches where he is - it seems they get surrounded by Yes men and they loose touch with reality. I can understand Akshay getting carried away but what is wrong with Nagesh Kuknoor? How could he take up a plot like this. The story becomes predic...table and the viewers feel cheated when the patch up job is being done to explain the film in the end. This double role of Akshay makes the point that two idiots do not make one wise person. In this case the viewers are not idiots because they refused to watch this film and waste money. Looks like that Akshy's apple cart is derailed for the time being. It is time he gets above the thought that people come to see him and it does not matter if the there is no story. He is repeating himself and the stunts that he does and get talked about so much are no fun to watch either. Is it such a big deal that he jumps in water - why he has to do this shot like the way is it done. A much better effect can be produced with special effects and body double. His insistence that he will do his stunts is another self promoting exercise at the cost of poor end result for director and the viewers. It is a wake up call for many. The films that people want to see today is meaningful, and lighter films and not the plots where a son is going to kill his family and the mother is having a fling. Your effort as a writer is good and keep it up. Regards SanjeevRead More

To say the least Raakeysh has even managed to get poor show from Om Puri and Waheeda Rehman. Abhishek still looks to be just skimming the surface of the character. I am surprised that how he is still getting roles. I think it is till Amitabh Bachchan is there people are tolerating him. Sonam has aga...in just spent time in looking good and that she does. It is time the directors should get away from the small time actors such as photographer or the brother of Om puri doing run of the mill and predictable chores in a film rather it is time to bring in new talent. The guy who did the final act was just hopeless to say the least. Story is poorly fabricated and that black monkey thing is just kid stuff. Same what Karan Johar used in his film recently and looked poor there too. Poor script and very mediocre acting will never get a film the run they expect. I was impressed with the song 'Genda phool .....but I am sure this is from a folk tune and not much work has been done by the music director to lift this song. Raakeysh missed chance to film this song properly hence it will go down unheard. It is shocking to see poor camera work from BInod Pradhan but the buck stops with director. There is only so much a camera can do if the story does not move forward. It appears that the director is surrounded by Yes Men and no one is telling him that this childish story line and predictable scenes will not get his film anywhere. I dare say that Rang de Basanti also had its poor moments but this is the real class of this director because there was no Aamir Khan to keep him honest so he has just gone off the rocker. Showing circus or a Raamleela in a film takes the fun out of a film if it is not woven in a good story line - ask Raj Kapoor who burnt his fingers with MERA naam Joker. You can not waste footage in showing poorly performed Raam Leela, that has no relevance to the story. Good review but sorry to movie is poor and I could not agree more with Dr Shafique. Read More

Hi Ateesh, this phenomenon is very well documented in other places too. The biggest fear of terror propagators is if the common person started resisting them what will they do? Your review comes on the heels of the public outcry when the home minister was seen as changing his clothes every time he w...ent out after the blasts. Media is not always wrong in doing what they do. They also keep the momentum without which a number of cases could have gone away soon as some money changed hands. There is a school of thought and if you see the footage at the same day or the next day of blasts the life had returned to normal in most places in capital. It is the exposure or overexposure of such footage that has made the common man immune to such acts. There was no communal violence and that is because media quickly circulated the info that no religious body was involved. Yes you are right about media circulating these across but then media also makes it hard for these criminals to escape because their pictures are flashed and they can but hide in a place. You wrote a good review and the film is one of the best I have seen lately. Regards SanjeevRead More

Your research is good and it is not important to compare the music of LP and RD. Who is better - well it is individual's choice but as far as it is concerned they both were there. LP have worked with RD and in turn RD worked with them. LP were chosen over RD for Bobby by Raj Kapoor and we will ackno...wledge that RK did know his music. Sahir refused to work with RD as he thought that he lacked any sense of poetry. In Daag - RD was first choice when Sahir put his foot down and asked Yashraj to choose between the two. LP were brought in. Let us not compare who is better - let us enjoy their music - they both have place in our hearts. Regards SanjeevRead More

Looks like Subhash Ghai has lost his marbles. Time and again he has disappointed with his product. He was the first film producer in yesteryears who had his films insured, you would wonder why? The basics of film making start with a good script. When you put your feet in more than one boat you are b...ound to sink. Film making is a passion and looks like Subhash has lost passion. I see you have said that the Taare Zamin par has set the bar too high for anyone to scale in foreseeable future. I must point it out to you that the film TZP is good but just imagine that the director has taken more than half the film to tell the audience that the child has some problem, that the viewers already know in the first 15 minutes of the film. He dragged the film in many places and the music is ordinary. The songs were unimpressive but if you hear it 100 times you start to associate with a song - it still does not make it good. If one has to see a good cinema I advise you to see Vantage Point - this is something Mumbai will not be able to produce in next 30 years. Good review but needs more about what makes the movie to your liking would make it more interesting. Regards SanjeevRead More

The best business (in my view) after Religion is opening a school. Even small places, and I do not mean to call Pune small, have schools in every street and they are all full. In some ways it is a nightmare for parents, and just imagine the condition of mothers in places like Delhi where the kids us...e the public transport and travel long distances. The time has come when the school hours are shortened and the kids are also taken off the stress not to say of the stress of parents. Some parents I am told have planned their off springs to target particular school admission dates!! In Australia kids have holidays for 2 weeks after every 10 weeks and also they get about 6 weeks of annual leave. Education should be made easier and after a level the kid should be tested for caliber before going up. Your story is everyone's story. It seems you do not have financial worry - just think about the people who have to look at their finances too. Good article where as it is your personal experience, it has become too long at places. Style is good but you need to make it crisp to keep the interest of the reader going. Some places are full of over information. Keep it up - you do write really well, but it is the editing that will make it short yet complete. Regards SanjeevRead More
