Black and White begins in a most eye catching way with the movie in black and white. The film is about a muslim extremist who has been sent to India to blow himself up at the Red Fort on Independence Day. The extremist is played by Anurag Sinha and he pulls it off beautifully. After some time into the movie, you actually feels he is an extremist who has been brainwashed by terrorists in Afghanistan. He speaks littleĀ  and glares a lot. But that is where his acting begins and ends.

He wins over the amazingly secular and liberal Prof Mathur (Anil Kapoor ) who unsurprisingly is a Hindu in love with all religions and who unsurprisingly teaches Urdu at unsurprisingly Zakir Husain College. His wife Roma played by Shefali Shah is also a cliched character who tries to maintain harmony in Chandni Chowk by giving speeches and bringing in the media at the fall of a hat.

Habib Tanvir plays a lovable Muslim poet whose work finally gets recognised at the age of 80. It is in his house that Anurag Sinha's character stays before his suicide mission.

Few minutes into the movie, you will feel as if you would get a feeling of deja vu. The movie is loosely written with a lot of unwanted songs and unwanted characters.

The final part of the movie where you find out the reason why Prof Mathur decides not to tell the locality about his wife's death is as dumb as it gets. The movie is filled with banal dialogues and cliched scenes.. The direction is ok sorts, not worth remembering.

Taare Zameen Par has set a standard which would be hard to match in the near future. The only character you would remember after the movie ends is Habib Tanvir as a shaayar.
