Of course, there is no such thing as many-moan-ials. I was referring to the “MATRIMONIALS” which by now has left me moaning several times. It all started with the utterly dull and nondescript 1st page of TOI with how Sonia Gandhi still remembers her ma-in-law./blah blah and more blah, how Karnataka rebels take power fight to Delhi followed by more blahs blahs of the world..till I reached page 13 which housed the matrimonials – “for the better half of your life” it flashed with a picture of a happy couple honeymooning in Dal lake.. and it actually got me concerned. Why page 13?? The superstitious me asked the very bored myself. I would have otherwise just flipped over the 6 pages of this groom-bride hunting gala but then this huge, black, bold print caught my eyes.

I was mesmerized for a second, tempted for a minute and had myself writing this DP within an hr.
Extremely handsome, very beautiful and very fair : these are the words that immediately caught my eye. Abbay saale.. you are looking for a wife or a showpiece to flaunt?? And I wonder what has looks got to do with marriage anyway? Good looking couples is by no means a guarantee that the marriage is gonna last. The whole affair of “fair is lovely” is all hogwash too. So throw all those fairness cream, folks, dark, healthy skin is definitely in.
This comes from a personal experience of mine. I have seen that medico guys normally opt for girls with a medical background. If they get one (MBBS/ PG) then looks aren’t that important.. but if in case they choose to marry a girl from non-medical field then they have to be extremely beautiful. In this situation, looks, then, becomes a thing of compensation.
I was also amazed by the “quantity” of “quality” that one normally yearns for in a girl. I mean, not only has the girl got to be beautiful, very fair but also highly educated, well equalified, traditional at the same time being smart enough to handle the family affairs well. I mean, isn’t it asking for too much?
And the 7 figure income? Are you sure it hasn’t got a decimal in it?? I wouldn’t opt for this extremely handsome, very fair, tall, well qualified, obviously loaded guy who has strong family values.. Come on’ now its like marrying an illusion. Give me a normal, not so good looking, educated guy who kind of likes to have a bit of fun, is kind hearted, understanding , drinks a bit, drives me crazy, etc etc..
I wouldn’t mind the 7 figure salary though…
