So Far So Good!

By: desigal | Posted Dec 01, 2010 | General | 1160 Views

As a child I remember asking my mom an innocent question, I asked her " Do we grow taller only on our birthday?" , this question sure became a reason for some laughs in my family but my mom rather calmly told me " No my dear, we grow everyday till a certain age!"

As each year passes by, I don't know if I have to be happy that I am getting wiser or I should be worried that life is becoming tougher, gone are those days when my only concern was that my neighbor friend broke my perfectly white chalk! or the days when I took my mother's handbag and pretended to be a teacher and forced kids in my neighborhood to be my students!

But sure growing up has its perks too, you get to experience the elusive college life, that scene you imagined as a kid, where you carry only one book, no uniforms, the luxury of bunking classes, everything is picture perfect! But life does give you rude shocks, my elusive college didn't have big fat text books, seminars, projects, internals, externals, labs, bad lecturers and bad canteen food!

My mom was right, we do grow everyday, may be not physically, everyday there is a lesson to be learnt, sometimes life teaches you the hard way, some mistakes cost you a lot but you still learn from them, like the syllabus of any subject I studied in college, first few chapters of life were pretty easy, some chapters I never understood, some chapters were manageable, some chapters I realized were easy but I never made an attempt to study them!

Maturity comes with age they say, I am not too sure about that, may be I will be sure after a few years! No matter what my age is, I am sure life has its own way of teaching me, sometimes I have been given tough examinations, I was not fully prepared for it, but then you can never be fully prepared I guess! Some exams were rather easy!

So far so good I would say, even though there have been rough patches in my life, there have been good times too, I have a lot of things in my life that I must be grateful about, I treasure all the relationships that matter to me, yes I am happy, but I am a human being too, I know (and wish) it could have been much better!

PS : I sure am a tall girl now! :-P
