My Problems (?) with Facebook.

Facebook makes me lie.

Facebook is supposed to be this ultimate platform for expressing your views. Wrong. Actually it promotes lying. For example, when I see something like “Spending time with ma guy, mah guy is too cute”, I want to write, ma, mah – is your guy a goat? Instead I end up liking the post and commenting “So sweet :)”. Notice the smiley face. Smiley face actually means, “I don’t give a damn!”.

When I see 700+ photos of uncomfortable positions, err I mean, poses of newlyweds, I want to write “Didn’t have a room in the hall?”, but I write Congratulations. I mean what’s the point of uploading every damn photo that the photographer clicked? There are the engagement pictures, followed by the wedding and then the honeymoon. My mind is saying, “Come on, I am sick of seeing the same two faces.” But I don’t say a thing. I pretend that my life is cool. It actually is. I am single. :)

I hate the camera. Thank you, Facebook.

Whenever someone points a Camera at me, I am actually thinking of it being on someone’s wall. And 300 odd people judging me for what I am wearing, how I look, and why I don’t smile. Do you think that’s being paranoid? Well, I blame Facebook for that.

I feel like a distraught mother when I see girls adjusting their hair and dresses and clicking pictures in malls, restaurants, bus stops, busses, and every damn place I go. Guys have joined the party too. Do you go somewhere just to put photos on Facebook? That’s just so plain boring. What would be interesting if you would not click photos and do what normal people do in these places. Oh no, there are no normal people left. Thank you, Facebook.

Jo tera hai, woh mera hai. Eww!

Kids should be taught sharing. Sharing is cool. It doesn’t mean you should share everything that you lay your eyes on. I liked a Sachin Tendulkar fan club page, after a few months, I got so tired of Sachin. I actually did. I have loved that man for 15 odd years. But knowing every little detail and seeing every photo that ever was taken of him, and the admin sharing every article that even remotely mentions him made me sick. Too much is too bad. It’s true.:)

Stalking is cute. No it isn’t.

This unexplainable need to know what is happening. That overpowering feeling to check every single activity that Mr.X is doing. Oh dear! I want to know. I want to know who is in a relationship, who is not, who is going where, are they happier than I am? Ah, this explains the point no.1 and 2.

Abuse of Emoticons.

Self explanatory. :)

This might seem a very shallow, one dimensional, pointing to only the negatives kind of a piece. Well, maybe that’s what I want you to think. Facebook has made me a manipulative bi tch? Well, you never know what’s really on my mind.

Completed three long years on MS. :)
