**Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll**

Rock & Drugs have a very old relationship. It was and is taken for granted that people who are majorly into this kind of genre are into drugs too.

"Dude...have you smoked a pot and then listened to floyd?"

One of the guy I met during jamming expressed this to me..."No dude...not into those stuffs!" was my reply...This incident again made me think about something that always made me curious.I clearly remember so many legendary guitars whom I prefer to worship rather than going to temples were deeply with chemical clouds. I wonder how necessary was it and why was it and how it got attached to it? Does getting into the world of music you need to get high? ...remember Pink Floyd all there mind blogging, self elevating music was creating under influence of hallucination drugs, Jimi Hendrix made most of his innovative techniques and composition after intaking LSD (which is said to invoke your creative juices!), Dave Mustaine use to inject herione and composed one of the most aggressive heavy metal riffs. Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, ozzy Osbourne..the list is endless.

However, when we look into our culture. Those legendary pandits and ustads...to my best knowledge they were never into these toxins. I remember oncePundit Ravi Shankartold after having a tour to US. He said thathe found lot of drug addicts attending his concerts, dancing, enjoying the music and in their own world, he felt that if he was here in his teens then he too would have been into these drugs, sex and rock kind of lifestyle. At first instance he thought these people were harmful but as days passed by he found one very distinctive feature of these people. He found that they were really innocent and he was immensely moved by their honesty.

If you see the biggest difference is not the about "taking drugs" or "not taking drugs" it is about the cult. Rock is more about aggressive, "kick arse", "I want it my way", hate , hallucinations, etc...it is very assertive kind of emotion and indian classical music is about love, sadness but not depressive, pain with no hostility. It is very submissive.

It is bit difficult to explain but the music which you compose is more of what you want to express. Even the tone of the instrument defines the culture behind it.

PS: This DP is just an expression and not an encouragement or justification of taking drugs.
